Self Serve Pet Spa

Amazing self-​serving Pet Spa. Prices are very reasonable. My dog, German Shepherd fit great in the tub and she loved it even though she was a little nervous at first, Amy who works there was helpful, friendly and very professional. I absolutely recommend this awesome pet spa and we will be returning here.

We adore Self Serve Pet Spa!
For those new to this set-​up, Self Serve is just that: self serve! Bring your dog on a leash and they’ll provide the rest! Best part: you take home a clean dog and they clean the tub!
Depending on your wash package, you are provided a basket of items to get Fido fluffy and clean. The standard «Buster» wash ($ 14) includes shampoo, eye drops to protect your dog’s eyes, cotton balls with ear cleaning solution on them, a washcloth, and brush to scrub. Aprons and towels are provided as well, and dryers are hooked up at each station. Dogs are separated with high walls to prevent any interaction between dogs during washes. NO lifting is required — a ramp is given to get the dogs safely in and out of tubs, and restraints are in all tubs to prevent escapees or injuries. (Your dog prefer to keep to him or herself? No problem — they offer special hours for dogs that don’t always mind their manners around other dogs.) They do offer a rewards program for frequent customers.
Grooming tables are also available, and clippers can be rented at a reasonable rate. We also bring in our dog for nail trims, offered on the third weekend of the month. The woman who clips the dog’s nails is gentle and has never hit a quick on our dog. Once we used her for nail trims, we decided to never again visit anywhere else. She is the only person who can clip our dog’s nails without our dog becoming agitated or nervous.
Self Serve also has a great selection of high quality pet foods and treats, as well as fun toys, grooming accessories, and other pet gear. Our dog’s favorites are the little biscuits served in the case at the front counter and the duck feet!
We have found both locations to be kept clean, organized, and run by friendly and helpful staff that loves our pets just as much as we do.

I wash my two labs here periodically and I’ve always been happy with the way this place is run. Their employees are super helpful and friendly! I couldn’t ask for better customer service!
They only have one small flaw, which is their music selection. They play Christian music on the radio, which is an interesting choice for a business open to the public. But hey, it’s Bakersfield so I guess they can get away with it.

Whenever my dog needs a good cleaning, this is where I head to! I’m a repeat customer and this place is superb. The way it works is that you walk in, pick the type of shampoo package or service you want, and bring your dog to the pet friendly sinks. There are multiple sinks and I’ve always found space when I walk in. There are rope loops for your dog to wear while you wash so you don’t have to get your puppy’s collar wet. After the wash and dry, a dog treat comes free.
Aside from being a self serve pet wash, you can also purchase natural dog food and other pet items.
The expense can pile up if you bring your dog often so I treat my little girl roughly a couple times a month when I’m in town.
Excellent service and the staff are always willing to help or answer questions should you have them. Recommend!

There is a wide menu of self serve menu selections (perfume for your dog!, conditioner, anti-​itch, etc) but I found for our first time, the basic was all that was needed. Wash, dry, brushing, wash cloth, towels, all included. The space is roomy enough and clean. I found coming on a week day, mid-​day to be perfect as it was not very busy and there was no feeling whatsoever of being rushed.
The store up front has a vast array of collars, leashes, healthy food, treats, doggie breath spray and the list goes on.
My fave part of the business were the owners themselves and I vow to come back at least a couple of times a month. Thank you!

The staff here is super friendly and my pup loves seeing them every week we are in there.
Awesome healthy food and healthy snacks and chews. My pup loves to devour a big old bully in a few days. And the cookies are organic and awesomely healthy. Can’t say enough about this place.

I absolutely love this location! I take my English mastiff here for her bath and they are always so friendly and helpful. They have excellent food choices and great treats too. Always a pleasant experience!

This place is A-​mazing! I love everything in the shop from the great selection of collars & leashes to the high quality food and grooming supplies. Every time I’ve been in the staff is super friendly and you just know they love fur babies. You would never know there were stinky dogs in the building because it is very clean and has a fresh atmosphere. The pricing is a deal, especially because you have access to professional tubs, quality dryers and yummy top of the line shampoos and conditioners. LOVE the RAINFOREST products and the BLUEBERRY FACIAL. And I love that you aren’t rushed, you can take your time and pamper your pet. This business takes the time to build a relationship with you and your pets, and I’m happy to spend money here.

Love this place. this place is the only place in this town that carries my dog’s food of choice (orejins). The prices are good (compared online) and they are always friendly. Highly recommend

I love the convenience of this wonderful business that helps keep me sane while keeping my dogs clean! They provide everything you need to give your dog a better bath than you could at home anyway. I go in with my 2 dogs and can secure one while I’m bathing the other. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I also love the Lupine line of collars and leashes they sell as well as the adorable collar scarves!

The only place we buy our dog’s food. The staff is well informed about the products and very helpful. The store is always clean and well stocked. Just a wonderful, friendly place to go. I highly recommend it!

A great place to bring your dog of any size. There is a wide range of other pet items at a very reasonable price. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. It’s quick, easy and no mess to have to clean up after. Prudence loved it when she was with us. After bringing Abbey for the first time I can tell she enjoyed her visit just as much.

Great place if you want to wash your dogs and not mess up your house or have to bend over a bathtub to scrub your furry kids. What an amazing service!
They supply an area to wash your baby, supply the shampoo, conditioners, stuff for their ears and lots of different spa treatments you can treat them to also.
But the best is no leaning over, a great area, towels and it is all left behind take your freshly washed dog home and everyone is happy.
They also have a great selection of dog food, treats and accessories.
Not to mention the owners are truly the nicest people I’ve ever met and this is really a great place to take your dog to wash them yourself and it’s very reasonable and you know they are not locked up in a cage all day!

This is honestly the best place ever to get all your dog needs! David and Amy are awesome and totally helpful and answer any question you could think of. All the affection/​attention they give towards my dog made her so happy. They are just down right awesome!!!

It’s very neat, tidy, they offer a basket with cleaning supplies that smell like blueberries, the bathing area is spacious & left my GSD with lots of room to move around & get splashed. I also like how the water temp is lukewarm so you don’t have freezing furry friends! They offer blow driers & much needed Furminators for the shedding breeds & best part of all they clean up the mess once your done!
They also have lots of treats, dog food & accessories for pets that are pretty neat.
Very good prices, very polite staff, & very great place to give your furry friend a bath =)

I love, love, love this place! The dog washing stations is as good as it gets! My pooch is not a fan of baths, so I have brought her here many times for a much needed washing. The tubs are waist height so you don’t have to bend over and all the products you need are supplied quickly in a convenient basket. They provide everything you need to get your animal clean and at an affordable price.
They also have a ton of pet supplies and organic/​natural food choices for your pets. If you have a pet, you need to go check them out.

I love this place! I have been coming here for awhile but I used to just use their grooming services and buy my dogs treats, toys and goodies but not their all natural dog food. I recently switched to one of the all organic and naturally healthy dog foods (Now Fresh) and I really can see a difference in my pups. They both have more energy and one who was a little chubby lost some weight and looks healthier than ever. I really appreciate the service here and how knowledgeable the staff and owners are. These people truly care about their customers including the animals! I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Thanks for taking care of my babies SSPS!

This place is great! I saw another review of this place on Unilocal,and have always wanted to take my cats to a place like this because my old cat is really fuzzy and makes a huge mess in my tub when I do wash her.
I emailed the owner because I wanted to know more about the process– what I needed to bring, if cats were served, when is a good time to come in with a cat who has never been to a self groom spa, etc. Amy, one of the owners emailed me back right away and let me know that weekdays in the mornings are the slowest, and that she would save me a tub on the end if I called ahead to make sure my cat would not be really stressed.
So I decide to go this morning– I called the White Ln. location and I introduced myself and the woman on the phone was Amy! She recognized me right away and said that now was a perfect time and she would reserve the tub right away. I was there within 10 minutes and she was super helpful– recommended an oatmeal based shampoo because I let her know that my cat has really dry skin and set me up with all the tools and towels I needed. She emphasized if I need anything at all to just ask.
My cat did really well– no more stressed out than her normal bath, and the pro tools for drying her made all the difference in the end to make it fast and easy. I think my cat has already forgotten that she was scrubbed ½ hour ago when usually it takes a couple of days for her to forgive me because she is still wet and has to lick herself dry.
I will definitely be coming back– and bringing my other cat in a couple of days.
They provide lots of towels, a professional apron for you so you don’t get wet, a multitude of shampoos and conditioners, cotton balls with ear drop wipes, a wire brush, and a silicone brush.
The tubs are deep the water and dryer are the right temps, and it went really smooth. I did bring my own cat toothpaste and brush though to do that at the same time.
This place is obviously a great spot for dogs, but they are so cat friendly too!

Super nice people offering great service and products! I don’t live in Bakersfield, but would highly recommend this place to folks traveling with their pets through Bakersfield as a great place to stop in for a bath.
