Shamrock’s Irish Pub

This place is divey some nights, weird some other nights, and a mix of «eclectic» and «special» people on other nights. When coming here I definitely don’t expect the finer things in life, nor do I expect to be taken care of. But regardless a drink is a drink as long as it’s in a clean glass (hopefully). Their selection is fair. The night we came there was no one (Saturday night in the middle of the month) and it was pretty laid back. The bartender was extremely attentive and even let us choose the next set of music videos that were gonna play. It was a pretty fun time to say the least and I got a nice buzz for under $ 40 bucks. Can’t complain. I ordered some random drinks he was making for me and I kept em coming. Not the finest place for a drink in Rosedale, but it’s passable.

This place is ridiculous. I’ve been there on fight nights and regular bar nights. The only reason we ever go is because it is so close to my boyfriends house. The one nice thing about this place is they have an indoor smoking patio, which I’ve never seen before. I don’t smoke, so it doesn’t really benefit me. I just think it is a neat idea. Everything else sucks. The decorations and furniture are tacky and sad. The actual bar is really small and overcrowded. The bartenders obviously never cut patrons off when they are too drunk. The girl bartenders wear these stupid mini skirts and long socks as an obvious ploy to get more tips, but all it does is make them look super unprofessional and desperate. I’m sure the girl bartenders are drunk or really have no common sense. There is one guy bartender that is decent. It still doesn’t make up for poor options and a lack of professionalism.

This is not my favorite bar. The place gets super packed on the weekends I am talking about give a fire code inspector a heart attack packed what is worse they think that having their bar tenders dress up in slutty catholic schoolgirl outfits justifies raising the price of a coors to 4.50 USD. They have a pool table put there is not that much space for it so you will constantly have people bumping into you as they move around or leave the bar. The ordering area is full constantly and I feel like I am forced to wait longer because I am not a 20 something girl with loads of cleavage, the place gets so packed it is physically difficult to move around yet they try for this dance club aesthetic without the size needed to accommodate it. Their one redeeming grace to be is that their funny Thursdays shows on the first of the month are pretty good but aside from that one night I would definitely look elsewhere for a bar in Bakersfield

So this is our second time here and apparently seating rules have changed. Last time any non reserved seat was fair game. Tonight all the seats had a reserved sign. We were directed to a table by male employee who removed the reserved sign and seated us. We were saving a seat for a friend so I sat my purse in the chair. A female employee came up and seemed upset by all of this. She told us the table was reserved and she was taking a chair. She asked if there were 2 or 3 of us and when I said 3 immediately asked where the third was. When I said she was on her way (as we were over 30 min early for the comedy show) she said she was taking a seat. She made me move my purse. She had major attitude for no reason. I told her a male worker seated us and she said she had seem him do it. I didn’t need nor deserve any attitude. I paid to be here and should mot have had a problem getting a seat. I don’t see coming back here in the future.

Great spot to check out the UFC fights. The bar service was great and they even had a lot of Mexican food for the fight which was included in the entry fee to get in to watch the fights. There were no problems with the patrons at the place. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. They have a nice looking pool table as you first walk in. The bathrooms looked clean. I will definitely come here to watch the next fight.

Not the kind of place I like to visit– overly loud and crowded with super young, barely legal to drink type people. I walked into a sea of Drakkar drenched, 22 year old testosterone laden drunks-​NOT my scene. If I were 22 years old, and set out in the evening to get laid, or get into a bitch fight (or both?) I would probably like this place, hence the 2 star rating. I did not get the impression there was anything «Irish» or «pub-​like» about this place– more like a typical bar/​club. We had one drink, and promptly left. This place qualifies as a «Douchebag Containment Zone”-a term I’ve coined specifically for places like this…

I’ve have been here a few times during the week days and it was ok. I’ve also changed my review from 1 to 3 because the bouncer with the attitude problem has been fired.

I have enjoyed this spot on a few occasions. They have good smithwicks beer on tap and cold jameson on tap. It is a good place to catch up with some friends that don’t mind it dark and smoky.

Jeff W. could not be more right. When you learn to properly pour and serve your Guinness, then I’ll be back. It’s a simple (yet, crucial) 6 step process. And you call yourselves an Irish pub…

The first sign that I should have stayed away was the decal on the door stating «No Face Tattoos Allowed». A bit odd that an Irish Pub would have to post something like that on the door. But this is Bakersfield, after all, so I guess it does make some sense.
The second sign that I should have stayed away was all the tent cards pushing Patron Tequila. Granted, they were pushing a drink made with Patron and Irish Cream Liqueur, but still, an Irish Pub advertising tequila? But, yet again, this is Bakersfield, so I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised.
The third and final sign that this was not the place for me, nor could it or should be be called an «Irish Pub» was the extremely fast pour and serving of the Guinness I ordered. Any real Irish Pub knows that it takes a minimum of 90 seconds to properly pour a Guinness, and it’s a two-​step process. I ordered my Guinness and within five seconds, it was served to be. I would let this slip if I were in a regular bar, but when you call yourself an «Irish Pub» there is really no excuse to not properly pour a Guinness.
I also question the massive advertising for UFC Fights. I didn’t think Irish Pubs were known for their showing of UFC Fights. Clearly, they are not trying to attract an Irish crowd, but another type of crowd entirely. No wonder they have to state «No Face Tattoos Allowed» at the front door.
They also have a «Smoking Room» which is located inside the business. There were people in there smoking, and the smoke was noticable throughout the bar, and very noticable in the restroom.
«Shamrock’s Irish Pub» is not a fitting name for this place at all. I was hoping to find a nice Irish Pub, instead, it was nothing of the sort. i won’t be back.

This is great addition to Rosedale area and well needed. I have to give the management big thumbs up on staff selection. All their bartenders are friendly and attentive. This is the only bar in town that has a dedicated indoor smoking patio.
The pub draws a wide variety of customers this being early 20 years old to the older generation, from business owners to the hard working laborers. If you’re a sports fan you can’t miss the large projection TV’s that are crystal clear. Shamrocks Pub supports the UFC fights and draws a large crowd.
The bar stocks your basics to a good selection of draught and bottle beers. Only drawback is the draught glass are warm and don’t keep the beer cold if you drink slow. Would be nice if they chilled their draught glass. They have a few high end liquors and a few upper end wines if that is your taste.
This is a place that you have to stop by and relax without any worries.
