Romantic atmosphere, great food, great service! Really love this little restaurant in downtown Bakersfield. For appetizers, the crab cakes are amazing! Drinks are so good as well. If you have questions about wines, the staff will gladly help!

So after a perusal of our trusty Unilocal and finding this the best reviewed place in Bakersfield we decided to give it a shot. Made res for seven showed up at 6:45. Busy and full which was reassuring as we were told to hang out at the bar. Initial negative coming in the door was the classic slightly fishy smell throughout the space which if you don‘t know means mostly frozen or just off fish. This is a glass storefront on the streetside ground floor of a small office building downtown. About twenty minutes later we‘re seated with an apology from the hostess(whom turned out to be pivotal in the story) for being a few minutes late. This is where the sordid tale begins. We are seated at a 30″ square two top on the glass wall facing the street. Looking for an all out experience after being on the road all day and having your knees bump into each other with the table base between your legs because you have 15″ each to work with and the sun in your eyes through the eight foot high glass wall your sitting next to with three 48″ two tops set up right next to you just past the shade line prompted me to ask when the waiter arrived«Do you mind if we sit at one of those?» to which he replied«No we are very busy and when someone gets up someone else sits down and that‘s just the way it is.» and turns around and walks away. Okay? So I‘m ready to walk all ready and we don‘t see him for a couple minutes and my better half says«No we‘re hungry and we are staying so go ask the hostess if they have another table.» Who amazingly enough says«Sure! Why don‘t you take the one right here.» The 48″ I had been eyeballing for ten minutes now right next to us. Great! All is good with the world until I see waiter reappear a couple minutes later across the room and take poor hostess aside and start gesticulating wildly with both arms as he is pointing across the room at me obviously expressing his displeasure with me usurping his completely unnecessary sense of authority. After ignoring us for a few passes and taking care of the table that was seated after us he finally walks up and says«Now you got what you want what are you going to have?» All right I could go a couple more paragraphs about how awkward this has become so let’s just get down to the food and get this over with. Bottle Santa Margherita Gris $ 38.00 very reasonable less than double retail, bottle left on table to warm and never a glass refilled. Half wedge $ 8.50, Crab cakes $ 10.50, Ital sausage app $ 11.50, Beefsteak tomato salad $ 9.95 Chicken Picatta $ 18.95 and the stuffed chicken breast special $ 19.95. Half wedge for $ 8.50 was a round small knuckle of iceberg. The dressing was the same gallon jug Italian with gorgonzola you see at Cash and Carrys everywhere and was poured over the top to fill the entire well of the plate out to the rim. Same with the three slices of mealy tomato on a plate for $ 9.95!!Italian sausage was a bizarre presentation of fifteen or so pieces on edge, dry and old with frilly tooth picks in each one like an hors devours plate with a gravy boat of obviously canned marinara again not very hot for$ 11.50 Crab cakes with nantua sauce, an embarrassing prefab frozen bread crumb product which was the culprit responsible for the fishy smell throughout the joint. Which made sense cuz you can‘t put two real crab cakes on a plate for $ 10.50. The pièce de résistance and culmination of this misadventure was the stuffed chicken breast special which was the frozen chopped and formed kiev you would find a version of at the grocery store. In edible, hollow and badly held before service. We are an hour in with three total passes by Mr. attitude, poor hostess is never to be seen again after hammer job by waiter and when he shows up another fifteen minutes later and asks if everything is alright I‘m sensing that this is Déjà vu all over again for him as he says«Ok well now you have to wait to speak to the owner cuz that‘s the way it works around here.» Really? Like«Your really going to get it now.» Clare the owner comes over after another ten minutes of working the room and without letting a word in edgewise because this speech is polished from repetition says«the chicken was tough wasn‘t it, I‘ve heard that twice already so I‘m taking it off the bill and giving you two desserts to go.» End of discussion no if ands or buts allowed. Bill is $ 125.00 for two after all of that. The wine was pretty good and desserts were a thaw and serve product that doesn‘t travel. The hoax that is being perpetrated on the public by this place is embarrassing in its crude ineptitude and sense of entitlement because of years of getting away with it. The End.

It has been years since we have eaten at Uricchio’s because of a bad experience. I thought it time to try again so last night which is our date night we did. Wonderful time. The food was delicious and the wait staff friendly and helpful not rude and obnoxious like in our past experience. My wife had the gnocchi and I had the linguini pescadora. Both were fabulous. I am so glad we gave them another chance.

My pesto was very good. The sauce was creamy and fresh while the shrimp was nice and flavorful. Will be back next time I am in Bakersfield.

Best service, hands down! Definitely one of the best spots in town for great food & good atmosphere. We sat outside, it was a nice relaxing, chill atmosphere. Quieter than inside when it’s busy(which it usually is on the weekends). Wonderful place. Perfect for a date night!

Little Italy was closed(bummer!) so we reviewed our Italian options and since we hadn’t been to Urrichio’s since it first opened we decided to go there. Unfortunately parking can be a real issue downtown so be prepared. It is also a little more expensive although the portions are larger. The restaurant was clean but the bathroom area was not as convenient, being out in the parking garage area. My husband decided to go with the Fettucine Alfredo with Shrimp and Bay Scallops. I chose the Lasagna Bolognaise. We also split a side salad and a couple of glasses of chianti. Our waiter was pleasant and prompt and brought us out some French bread nd butter with our wine. The salad was typical Italian and very fresh tasting and large enough to share. The chianti was perfect with the bread and salad. The shrimp and scallops in my husband’s dish were tender and delicious. I thought it was a little on the bland side but that was probably because my dish was more spicy. My husband thought it was perfect. Still we both thought the it was quite good and would order it again. The lasagna was every bit as good as at Little Italy with lots of sauce. I can’t honestly say that I preferred one place over the other. They were both that good. But we were so full we skipped dessert. Like I said the portions are larger here so sharing is always an option. We noticed that most people took part of their meal home. I have no problem recommending this place to anyone wanting good Italian food in Bakersfield.

I’ll make this really easy for you: WOW! What a find! The food at Uricchio’s is absolutely delicious and literally(I’ve only said this once before about an Italian restaurant in Boston’s North End) done to PERFECTION(Penne Pasta Alla Pesto with Shrimp and Scallops & Eggplant Parmigiana Al Forno). We ate outside(inside seemed just a bit noisy… the place was PACKED on a Thurs night) and the service was friendly, casual and impeccable. They serve a very generous-sized plate of food, so go easy on the bread and appetizers. Prices are very reasonable given the quality of the food(and quantity). Unless you get there early, make reservations.

I thought the food was bland and not too much taste to it. I ordered the Chicken Piccata along with a house salad a la carte which was $ 6.00 extra. For a $ 6.00 salad, the only choice of salad dressing I could get was vinaigrette or ranch, and for even more money, I could get some Gorgonzola cheese on top. The salad was nothing special and it wasn’t even that big. The Chicken Piccata was extremely buttery and the chicken breasts were not even seasoned. For $ 18.95, it would still cost me more to change the dish from the ravioli it came with to get angel hair pasta on the dish, no big deal but that is how I’ve always eaten that dish with. I just thought I shouldn’t have to have paid even more money to change that out. I basically didn’t even finish it because it just didn’t taste that great. Overall, the place was real busy but they were understaffed as the only time I got my water replaced was at the end. I am sure they must have better food as it seems from the other reviews and comments, but my meal was basically below average tasting, especially for the high prices.

I have dined here numerous times for lunch and dinner and have always had a positive experience. The ambiance is classy with white tables and little white lights. There is an outdoor patio with red umbrellas and heat lamps. The one quirk is that the only restrooms are outside in the parking garage with only one bathroom stall per gender. The service is consistently good and often excellent. I have tried a few pasta dishes but my favorite dish is the chicken piccata, which is consistently delicious. I haven’t found any other restaurant that does it better. The flavors are excellent as are the sides of vegetables and potatoes. My friend liked her pesto dish with seafood. The bread is good, as is the shredded cheese. I am rather addicted, and sprinkle it on everything. I usually get the house salad which I really enjoy with their house dressing and of course, a sprinkle of the shredded cheese and cracked pepper. They used to have a Monday night dinner special some time back that I really enjoyed; it included wine, dessert and an entrée, not sure about the side salad. I don’t think they do that anymore. Definitely nice for a date night. Good wine selection too.

Went here on a date with my wife. We got seated fairly quickly. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive. The service was great. He made some recommendations and we tried one of them. The food was good home style cooking. The prices were a little high. The décor is a little bit outdated. I will definitely come back again.

Uricchio’s is an excellent place for an intimate lunch or dinner. The food is consistently great(I had the Penne Pasta al Pesto with shrimp and scallops and my fiancé had the Manicotti in meat sauce, with a bit of fresh parmesan on top for a nice additional touch). The wine selection is great, this place offers some of the central coast’s favorites, like Sextant wine, which we had to our satisfaction. If there’s anything that can be improved upon is the semi-outdated décor. While Bakersfield’s classic restaurants try to maintain their consistency and traditions, it is still important to give your location a little face lift(old plants, fans, and mis-matchy garden lights). Great Bakersfield gem, will continue to dine here.

We finally found a good night to come try this place. Read the reviews about the bathroom situation but fortunately neither of us needed to use it! Started with calamari — the most tender calamari ever. Served with a delicious marinara sauce. Husband had a small Caesar and I had the house salad — again, both were very good. The house is made w their creamy house dressing and tossed with garbanzo beans, mushrooms, cucumbers, and carrots. It was very good! Caesar had a good garlic kick but not overwhelming. I ordered the shrimp scampi and husband had the manicotti. Shrimp scampi were served with ginormous shrimp — perfectly cooked and good flavor. I love capers and a scampi sauce so I knew I wanted to order it immediately! Manicotti was delicious as well, 2 manicottis served with a meat sauce covered in mozzarella cheese! We opted for dessert to go and ordered the lemon cake. It was moist and just the perfect amount of tanginess. EVERYTHINGWASDELICIOUS! The food will not disappoint at all. We will be back for sure!

Not only is it locally owned, it’s also my FAVORITE Italian restaurant! Over the holidays I finally had the opportunity to introduce my husband to this deliciousness. A group of friends planned our annual«friendsmas» here and it was the perfect location. I love a restaurant that takes reservations! Our group of 6 arrived a little earlier than our reservation so we grabbed drinks at the bar. My husband really enjoyed the house wine while I sipped a glass of champagne. It’s a quaint little bar are but can be a busy throughway. Everyone at the table ordered different entrees and we all shared bites around the table. I highly recommend the house dressing; they’re ceasar salad is great but the house dressing is AMAZING! I could seriously eat this salad everyday :) it’s above and beyond a standard dinner house salad. My go to favorite meal is the Chicken Picata! I don’t eat the capers but this dish is always on point. My husband ordered the Shrimp Scampi and loved it(with the exception of the few shrimp that were overcooked). I mentioned the shrimp to our waitress so she could let the chef know and she brought us 2 desserts that were DELICIOUS! I would definitely order the Crème Brule Cheesecake again. The only downside of this restaurant is the bathroom situation. It’s located in a garage outside and there is only one per gender. If you’re like me(small bladder and frequent trips throughout dinner) it can be a little inconvenient. That is a small inconvenience in relation to the overall experience and atmosphere that Uricchio’s Trattoria provides.

I constantly rely on my fellow Unilocalers when looking for a good local restaurant while I’m on the road… and most of the time they come through with flying colors. But sadly they have failed me with this restaurant. Both the service and food were average and that’s being generous. They charge $ 7 for a side salad and $ 3 to substitute pasta for vegetables with an entrée. The bar is filled with locals who seem to know everyone that works there and the service(and language) by both the bartender and servers shows. It’s more like a locals club than a serious Italian restaurant. Two stars is probably one too many, trust me, find another place.

Recent business trip and the whole crew wanted to eat. UT got the nod from the locals so we decided to give it a try. The whole crew was impressed by the workmanlike Murican/Italian fare. This is not gourmet but honest home-style food. Very good staff. Worth the visit.

What a wonderful place for a date night! We came to Urrichios for dinner on a Friday night at 7PM, and despite it being busy, we were immediately seated. Both our server and the hostesses were wonderful and attentive. Of course, we were brought a basket of yummy sourdough bread and a couple pats of butter. Totally hit the carb spot for me! We ended up ordering the lasagne and pork chop(with applesauce, potato, and green beans). My partner also got a small Caesar salad, which he said had probably the best Caesar dressing in town. Both our entrees were above average but nothing to rave about. I felt the pork chop was rather tough but was nicely grilled. The applesauce was like something you’d get out of a jar, disappointingly. My partner like the meat sauce on his lasagne, but didn’t praise much else about it. The cost was a bit high, but the customer service was so excellent that I would say it’s worth it. Plus my partner has leftovers because of how enormous his slice of lasagne was. I would definitely come back!

I absolutely love Italian food and Uricchio’s does it really well! I have to let you know, though, that I have only come for lunch and not dinner and I know their dinner plates and portions are a little different. How’s that for full disclosure? Anyway, the food here is just delicious! I have a favorite here and that is their(lunch) Chicken Piccata with Cheese Ravioli. Now, if you know me, you know that cheese and I are really good friends. I like cheese on everything. Luckily, the cheese in this ravioli is just as smooth as butter and the ravioli is cooked perfectly! Add to that some yummy, flavorful chicken and some decadent Alfredo sauce and you have yourself an absolutely delicious meal! So good that they almost don’t have to wash their dishes afterwards because I clean the plate with bread! Oh yummy yum yum! I have also had the Chicken Marsala and it’s so tasty. The flavor is very authentic and that’s never bad! Such rich flavors in these dishes, you seriously can’t go wrong. I’ve been here about half a dozen times and each time it has been with a group of anywhere from 6 – 15 people. I understand that the service won’t be perfect every time but I must say, some times it’s definitely better than others. It’s pretty hit or miss but again, I understand that with a group comes it’s own set of challenges. Some waiters/waitresses can handle it better than others is all I’m trying to say. Regardless, the food is always worth the trip and(sometimes) so-so service! Every time I’m in there, we recognize people in the restaurant. It always seems to be the place to be! From friends who have had different meals here, their San Dabs is really good as well as their Gnocchi, Chicken Florentine, Shrimp Scampi with Linguini, and even their cold sandwiches. If you haven’t already, make a reservation(always, especially with a group over 4 people) and have a meal! If the day is nice enough, enjoy your meal in their outdoor patio! Enjoy!

The service here is just wonderful and I always know I will have a nice meal when I have lunch here … The restaurant was recommended to me by several who I work with. I’ve been here about five times already(and have only lived here in Bako four months) and have tried a lot of dishes on the menu. I really like their Caesar salad — they offer it in two sizes, so you can get one and entrée as well. I tend to get that every time I go, as well as a soup. The minestrone and clam chowder are both incredible. I had their lobster bisque today which is not on the menu, but was today’s soup special. It was delicious. They offer their soups in two sizes too, fortunately. I liked the Fresh Sanddabs in lemon butter and white wine sauce, but think I prefer the fish at Nuestro Mexico a bit more as it has a more simple, delicate taste; tho that might be a matter of personal taste … I don’t like a lot of sauces… My friend seemed to really love that sauce. Today I ordered the Penne Paste alla Pesto with shrimp and bay scallops… it was incredible. I got really lucky — I have to give credit to the hostess who was eating the same dish when I wandered into the restaurant. I asked her what she was eating, and she told me it’s her FAVORITE there. She substituted angel hair for the penne, and got it with chicken instead of the shrimp and scallops. She always eats that, with the small house sale which has mixed greens, cucumbers, garbanzo beans, carrots, mushrooms and tomatoes… The lunch portions are huge, and a few dollars less than the dinner portion. My favorite dish that I’ve had here is probably the Manicotti with pink vodka sauce with Italian sausage… it was a special, and not on the menu. Most of the time, I will eat half of my food and eat the rest for dinner /this is the way I justify going out to eat. Such was not the case with this dish, I ate the whole thing happily. Parking is not impossible. They don’t have their own parking lot, but I usually can find something on the street within two blocks. There is also a parking structure a block away. The restaurant is very popular, but I’ve never had to wait when I’ve gone there for lunch. Everytime I go there, there are a couple of regulars chattin it up with the cool bartender. The only little funky thing for me is the restroom … it’s not in the restaurant, you have to go out of the restaurant into a garage in the back … it’s kinda weird and doesn’t match the nicer ambiance of the restaurant. Still that is a minor thing… The service incredible. Nice ambiance. Most importantly, the food is delicious. Be sure to check out the specials for the day.
