Dean Team Volkswagen Subaru

We have taken our Jetta to dean team for the express service since purchasing it from them in 2012. The customer service has become increasingly bad. We took the car up on a Saturday for the express service and were told they were too busy to fit us in. We live in IL. Ok so last night we called. Dean team confirmed that the express service would be available today, Saturday. We drove there and were told the express is not offered on Saturdays. The website says express is offered on Saturday. The employee said the same yesterday. Our next vehicle will not be purchased from your dealership. No offers to make anything right. Lousy communication.

High pressure sales tactics, mediocre customer service, outright lies, and a GM that doesn’t return calls. Two and a half months for a repair, and still not fixed. Philip Dean made no effort to fix the situation. All this after spending 20K on a car, and $ 2,600 on the platinum extended warranty

Don’t bother making an appointment. Been over 30 minutes and they still not have pulled my car in for a quick oil change. And they wonder why they lose business to quick oil change places.
The service advisor who took my information was nice enough but that was not the reason I came here.

Great customer care and service. Was in St. Louis for the weekend during a freak snow storm. Involved in an accident Sunday morning. Left car at the dealership and got a call first thing Monday morning even though it was a holiday. Had a damage report by late morning the parts were not going to be able to be available until Thursday at the latest. Eric, my service advisor, called around and was able to get everything the needed from other dealers in the area by the next morning and we were on our way home by Tuesday afternoon. Estimates were spot on and the staff was very friendly. Great experience for me and my family.

We just terminated a deal to buy a 2016 vehicle sight unseen because I truly believe Jason Moore tried to swindle us into buying a car we did not want. After flat out catching the Dean Team lying to us multiple times and enduring high pressure sales tactics, I would not believe anything they tell you.

We had a way wonderful, smooth, accommodating experience! Jason Moore was terrific! We’d recommend him to anyone, anytime. So many little details that this place does right. Will definitely do business here again!

Our sales rep, Jason Moore, was very helpful and enjoyable to work with. He didn’t pressure us, but was actually there to help us and get the best deal for us. He helped us get a great trade in value for our car and a great value on our new car. The whole process of test driving, negotiating, purchasing and driving our car off the lot took less than two hours. We would recommend this dealer and Jason to anyone interested in good customer service.

I knew exactly what car I wanted, went into the dealership after going to 3 others that didn’t have the exact 2015 forester. I was planing on driving off with the new car that day. sales man didn’t have it, tried 5 times to up sell me on something I didn’t want. I told him no… This is exactly what I want or I’m moving on. plus I came in because of the military discount listed on their website. He and I quote. … «I 100% can have that car you want driven here in 2 days 100%. we have a guy that will wake up at 3am, and just get us cars» so I agreed giving the guy the 500 dollar deposit. after I asked again about the military discount.. and he was confused it even existed. after telling him it’s in big letters on their website, he told me he couldn’t give me it… after me being pushy about it he pretended to call his boss. got off the phone and told me no, couldn’t give me the military discount because I’m already getting «such a good deal» was annoyed but I spend all day going dealership to dealership with no luck.
day came when I was supposed to pick up my car, called them. told oh wouldn’t have it for another 4 to 5 days and again was being upsold to cars on their lot. told them no thank you nicely and I’d seek else where. asked for my deposit back, and I was transferred 9 times from employee to employe. finally got ahold of someone who thn told me the 500 was non refundable. even though on the paper I signed.. said it was. went back and forth with the rude guy for 25 mins. being nice the whole time. guy finally agreed to give me my 500 buck but decided to tell me how I’m a bad person, how I can’t just do that and they went out of their way for me costing them money.
reading other comments this is what they do. never get you the car, hold your 500 bucks and pressure you into buying another car.

I wish I could give zero stars. First of all their parking lot was a nightmare, they had cars parked in the most horrible spots in this tiny parking lot so you couldn’t even hardly drive in the lot. Then their customer service was awful. We must’ve been standing and walking around looking at cars directly in front of the front doors for at least 15mins and multiple people who worked there passed us and not one person said anything to us. We finally went inside and stood for another few minutes before a man finally asked if we’d been helped and he said he’d page someone. No one came after a couple minutes so we just left. I guess Dean Team didn’t feel like selling any cars…

The salesmen here are amazing! Very nice guys and extremely helpful! We will definitely be coming back if we need to buy another car ever. Steve was very helpful and not pushy at all. We knew what we wanted and were able to make a good deal that we were comfortable with. Dustin was also really helpful and great to talk to-​unfortunately he was the guy we had to actually pay money to which was painful! We got to meet Mr. Dean himself and he’s a great guy. They give discounts to military personnel which I really appreciated even though I’m not military. It’s a great thing to offer though! Overall, we had a great experience and bought a 2014 Outback and love it!

Terrible Service. Went there to purchase a car and offer a Subaru to trade-​in. The main sales associate that we dealt with, along with his coworkers were extremely rude. When we told them we’d like to take some time to think about the offer, we asked for the keys back to our own car that we brought for a trade-​in. We waited in the lobby for almost 25 minutes before they paged the salesman and he still did not arrive with our keys. As we questioned another associate about where our keys were, he was extremely rude and unprofessional. Ended up buying a Subaru from Webster Groves Subaru Dealership and they were awesome.

Purchased a 2015 Subaru Forester. The salesman for the purchase was Mark McNulty (
). Mark, during every step of the purchasing process was friendly and professional. I arrived looking for a Forester. Mark made himself available if I required assistance. I did. He helped. I purchased!
The majority of vehicle research was completed online (e.g., dealer and automotive websites, consumer reports). Mark McNulty was helpful, knowledgeable, prompt, and friendly. I visited other dealerships in the area and found their agents did not fit my expectations. I found agents at other dealers: pushy, needlessly pushy; one agent forgot I was on the lot — I found another and then they did not return calls promptly; agents that attempted to talk me out of one type of vehicle and into another; agents that did not know vehicle features or gas mileage. This was not the case with Mark or others at the Dean Team; they answered all questions accurately and did not push the sale.
I must say that other dealerships have nicer showrooms and much nicer office areas, including private offices. The room that the Dean Team — Subaru claims as a showroom is in need of expansion and brightening. Ideally, I could split the rating as 5+ Stars for the people and 3.5 for the facility. The «showroom» consists of four areas: office space with desks lined against dividers; restrooms; a seating area with a couple of couches squeezed in next to a TV; and the remainder of the room is taken up by the two display vehicles. This is a small area with limited privacy and minimal room out of the elements to explore vehicles. Dean Team, if you want to make your customers feel comfortable and welcome, you are missing the mark.
I worked with Mark to price a Forester with the features that fit my lifestyle. As I stated before, there were no pressure tactics. Mark was able to answer all questions and thoroughly explain all steps in the leasing/​purchasing process. I declined multiple test drives and selected to sit in one of the vehicles and have him talk me through the features available.
The Dean Team had a vehicle arriving within two weeks that included all of the features that I selected. Mark and I agreed to a price. Mark described the purchasing process as compared to a lease agreement. Purchasing made the greatest sense for me. The price that Mark quoted was within range of multiple online sources and the other dealerships in the area. The finance term length was agreed upon separately. I did not offer a vehicle for trade. For price approval Mark had to go briefly into the neighboring building (Volkswagen) to speak with a manager. The wait was worthwhile as the final price was a bit lower than the other dealerships that I had visited. I agreed to return with needed paperwork and complete the application process when the vehicle arrived. I left a small, good faith deposit to secure what would become my new Forester.
Two weeks later I received a call from Mark indicating that my Forester was delivered. While on the phone I made an appointment to return and complete the paperwork.
Visit #2. I was late — near closing — I’ll blame the rain and the drivers that forgot how to drive on Manchester Rd. I met Mark and completed an electronic application while seated in the showroom; a downfall of the cramped dealership. I must say that small round table offered a greater amount of room than his «office.» The online information needed for the application was straight forward. Because of my tardiness I had missed the person I needed to speak with in the finance department. Did I mention it was after closing time and Mark had waited?
Visit #3 I returned the next day at my appointed time. The finance department for Subaru is located in the Volkswagen building. Mark McNulty walked me over and introduced me to the finance guy… sorry, I don’t recall his name. The financing that the dealership offered was, in fact, better than my own bank. The finance manager offered a number of up-​sells but not in a pressured manner. The final price was the same price I had agreed with Mark a few weeks ago. Mark walked me out to my new Subaru Forester. He paired my phone with the vehicle’s electronic system. Reviewed all features inside and out. Offered to set up a first appointment for maintenance and go out on the maiden voyage. He handed me the keys, provided me the code for free car washes, and promised to be available if I needed for anything for the vehicle.
Mark has made a number of follow up calls. The dealership sends frequent email for service reminders.

Do not go to this dealership. When I purchased my car they said that they would split cost of tires with me because the tires on the car was bad. When I went back they refused to honor the deal. That isn’t all though because the service department was terrible. They only did one of the 5 items I asked them to do and were unprofessional the whole time. Stay away.

The purchasing experience that I had with Dustin Westhoff was absolutely brilliant. Dustin is professional and extremely helpful without the «typical sales pressure» that you experience at most dealerships. I have been extremely happy with my purchase and I always recommend Dustin to any associates that I hear are looking for a car, «new or used». Recently my wife told me her manager’s family was looking for a new Volkswagen and of course we sent them to Dustin. They ended purchasing a brand new Passat! The feedback that I have received was that they throughly enjoyed their experience with Dustin and would also recommend him to their friends for future automobile purchases.
Additionally, I would also recommend the Dean Team Service Department. Everytime I have dealt with «Eric» (Service Advisor) he has handle all of my concerns perfectly. I have never felt pressured to have service done to my vehicle that I would not want! Any questions are always answered quickly and accurately. (I am a classic Volkswagen guy who does a lot of work on his own cars so for me to allow anyone to work on one of my vehicles is a huge recommendation for me.)

I spoke with the salesman, R.C., over the phone, explained that I was using USAA’s car buying service, so the sale price of the vehicle is pretty straightforward. We negotiated a price on my trade, agreed on the sales price from USAA, wrote it up, signed 400 papers, and we were done (I had arranged financing prior to the visit).
The loan paperwork comes through, and I see that the loan is for $ 500 more than our agreed prices. Turns out they added a $ 100.00 install fee for options already installed, as well as added a $ 400.00 buy price.
If you decide to do business with this company, make certain to review the paperwork several times — if the paperwork EVER leaves your sight before signing, make sure to re-​review all the paperwork again. I am not certain when the $ 500.00 was added, but it definitely came out of nowhere.
I have contacted USAA, and they are investigating the matter. I will update the review with any resolution.

Worst car buying experience of my life! Was constantly mislead and lied to about the car we were going to buy.
They said they were getting the Outback we wanted from another dealer, but had to put down $ 500 deposit. I kept asking for a sales agreement before I would put down the deposit. Turns out they had not obtained the car from the other dealer.
I think this is known as «bait and switch».
Our sales guy would just make up the craziest stories to string us along. Glad I kept all his emails and voicemails to share with others.
Congratulations to all of you who enjoyed doing business with them. I would never recommend these folks, but I will share the emails.

We recently purchased a 2013 VW Passat TDI from Deryck Dumas at the Dean Team. We financed through our credit union and did not trade in a vehicle. That said, this was one of the more pleasant car-​buying experiences in my history. We test drove a couple of vehicles and were left alone to browse and discuss preferences. I felt like Deryck was there to answer any questions about the vehicles, but really felt no pressure to even interact. Once we made the decision to purchase a Passat, I felt like they were open and honest about the pricing they offered us. In fact, there was very little negotiating and we ended up happy with the price we paid. I would definitely recommend Deryck and the Dean Team to friends and family, and will most likely be back when its time to buy another VW.

My husband and I recently got new leased vehicles from here. For me, it was the first leased car I have ever had. Usually, I just buy them but, with the deal they were advertising on the radio and all the money I knew I was going to have to shovel into my car in the near future I decided it was time to get a new vehicle.
My husband has worked with John Ostlund for some time now and so of course I went with him as well.
John is wonderful, very knowledgeable, patient & kind. He was very helpful all along the way and answered any questions we had about anything. He helped me set up bluetooth in my car and made sure we were fully taken care of.
I got a fantastic trade in deal for my car!

This place really does a number on people. Went to buy an advertised CC from the
get there and they say the 4 CCs aren’t ready to show. They claim HONEST MISTAKE. So we put a deposit on one of them based on description and how the test car drives. We oblige and all is well. The next day they tell us the car we «bought» doesn’t have the colors as promised. HONEST MISTAKE, they say. The manager tells me all he can do is offer a refund of the deposit or maybe a DEAL ON A DIFFERENT CAR. This is classic BAIT AND SWITCH.

. Now, the only review is from ONE POSITIVE REVIEW. Weird how those negative were flagged.
I’m trying to help others from going through what we went through. The manager, Scott, seems laid back and indifferent… and he is. He could not care less about the customer and being honest and competent. BAIT AND SWITCH, take it or leave it.
Buyer beware of bait and switch here! Our experience started with the Internet sales guy, Dave. Blame and apologies came from all we encountered while the screw job developed. They also jacked up the cost of the white CC by 1000 dollars because that’s the color we requested. Now, the online prices are all the same (23 988) despite all being slightly used 2012 CC’s. Textbook scammers here. It’s not unusual in the car sales business. Sad. This is one dealer to avoid… until they flag my review, good luck and happy shopping.

I’ve purchased three used cars and two new cars from The Dean Team over the years. There’s no pressure. Walking around the used car lot can be grueling, but a test drive was always an option. We’ve had many of those.
The used cars were always as-​advertised, highly reliable and sturdy cars. The new cars were what we wanted, and there was no pressure on getting that extra warranty thing. .. and there are many forms and patterns of those.
The service department is incredible. Top-​notch on the repairs and maintenance activities. And the car is always ready when they say it will be.
Sometimes it takes a while to get in, but I think that speaks to how good they are. If they can get you in the absolute next day, then they’ve not got too much business. That’s not a good thing, in my book.
They helped me a lot in one particular incidence when we had an engine breakdown when my youngest son was on a ballpark tour throughout the Midwest and eastern US. This occurred in Springfield, Ohio, and we needed assistance in getting the car to the appropriate dealer for repair. The Dean Team came through.
I wouldn’t hesitate to get another car from The Dean Team.
