History

Established in 1953.

In 1953, Lee C. Ashcraft and Martin E. Gerel founded Ashcraft & Gerel, LLP in a two-​story walk-​up in Washington, D.C. They did so with the belief that those injured on the job deserved the best representation the law could offer.

In the 60 years since, Ashcraft & Gerel grew to become one of the largest personal injury firms in the United States with nearly 40 attorneys practicing throughout Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

What hasn’t changed over six decades is our commitment to helping individuals who have been injured or wronged and now find themselves facing a legal battle against their own employers, major insurance companies, medical institutions or some other corporate entity with seemingly insurmountable resources.

We work exclusively with plaintiffs, helping level the playing for our clients across a wide range of practice areas, from personal injury cases and complex medical malpractice claims to representing victims of dangerous pharmaceuticals and qui tam suits.
