Berger Cookies

I tried some berger cookies today and was very disappointed. I have eaten Berger Cookies for a long time and then I stopped for a while recently the cookies I bought we’re not very good at all the waiver was dry the fudge was everywhere and seemed very disappointing from the Berger Cookies I used to eat the whole box of cookies these i threw out the car window. Not the same.

This review is specifically about the customer service here, not the cookies. I ordered a tin of cookies online, to be delivered to a suburb of Baltimore (maybe a 30-​minute drive from the factory). I thought it was crazy that the shipping cost was $ 13 (over half the price of the tin of cookies themselves) to ship to such a close location, but purchased them anyway because I wanted to get something delivered fast to someone as a gift. The shipping times link provided on their site said it should be a 1-​day delivery. They were finally delivered a week later, and when I called to ask for a refund of the shipping cost, the woman I spoke to was very rude and basically said, «Well, they delivered eventually so you got what you paid for. I don’t know what to tell you.» Sounds like someone in a previous review spoke to the same woman. They just lost a customer, and I will tell everyone I know not to purchase cookies online through Berger. Really disappointed.

CAUTION– THIS IS NOT A BAKERY. We drove around for about 5 minutes, then realized there is no bakery here. It seems to be a factory where they make the cookies, if that. There is absolutely nothing there that would resemble a bakery, and it’s not a good area AT ALL.
Find somewhere else!

I tried ordering cookies online and their site crashed and froze every time I tried to order. I spent an entire day trying to order a box of cookies for a birthday. Their online service had no clue basic questions such as cost of shipping and did not help me at all! I was extremely disappointed with their service and will not be ordering from them every again.

My husband called this location today and the woman he spoke to was very rude to him. He is visiting Baltimore and heard very highly of these cookies and when he tried to purchase these today he said the woman on the phone was «appalled» that he expected to just come in and pick up cookies. He said the Google reviews were horrible and that basically the woman told him he was not going to be able to purchase cookies, period. I understand if this location isn’t «retail» but there is no reason to be rude to a possible customer.

The term «cookies» is misleading. They should be called «Berger Fudge drops with a touch of cake.»
They are amazing and worth every calorie. absolutely love Berger Fudge drops!

For those of you who «don’t get the hype» about these amazing soft, delicious, shortbread, fudgey layered cookies… IT’S. A. BALTIMORE. THING… HON :)

Cookies are delicious. Soft shortbread cookies with a generous topping of chocolate fudge. I’ve had Berger Cookie Pie, and now there is a local Stout (beer) influenced by them. An indigenously Baltimore treat.

DO NOT use the website. No customer service at all and way too expensive. I grew up in Baltimore and I have enjoyed these cookies for a very long time. I sent them for Christmas gifts and were very very expensive.
3 small decorative tins for $ 167.45, I was told of the total price AFTER the order was processed and I was never sent a receipt.

i think this location closed? my wife and i were trying to use our phone to navigate us to this area and it didn’t work. we drove around in circles for about 15 – 20 min looking for it.
the neighborhood that we drove around wasn’t exactly the safest place either. luckily it was around 1pm on a Sunday. if it was late at night, we probably would have felt a lot more concerned that we were lost in a shady neighborhood.

Okay, so originally I gave this place 1 star because this address listed is just for the warehouse. You can’t really go to this address to buy cookies! You have to get them from a supermarket or area that participates with Berger’s Cookies and sells them. So do NOT waste your time driving to this area looking for the cookies.
Yesterday in my area (Centreville, VA), I went to Giant Food supermarket near my house to buy some stuff and guess what? I saw a basket of Berger’s Cookies. I grabbed a package and took it home to try. My family and I tried the cookies and while they are good, they weren’t anything special. Maybe it is a Baltimore thing. It was basically just a soft shortbread cookie with extremely sweet fudge on it. A box of the cookies was $ 5.99. I wouldn’t get them again.

— customer service: they’re so sweet and blunt. We had a group of girls from USC and they gave us the last Black/​White cookie for free. Then realizing that we had a group of six, she ran back with 6 chocolate chip cookies just for us :) so sweet
Just check it out and try something, anything, and you’ll be sold.

Very good shortbread cookie with chocolate frosting, a Baltimore classic.

When I was a kid, I could put away four of these easily. These days, I’m lucky if I can eat two in one sitting before my internal sugar police starts strapping on the riot gear. Nonetheless, the wonder that is Berger Cookies still puts a smile on my face whenever I arrive home to a care package from my aunt and uncle in Baltimore.
Over the years, I’ve gotten three friends, five roommates, and four coworkers hooked on these cookies. Picture, if you will, a plain vanilla cookie. The cookie is nothing special. The cookie is, indeed, nothing more than a token vehicle for the chocolate fudge topping. This chocolate is sugary, delicious, and tastes unlike anything else I’ve ever had. It will impress and overwhelm you. You’ll probably need a drink of milk. And then another cookie.

Ok, Unilocal Baltimore. Confiscate my «Born in Baltimore» bumper sticker if you must. But I do not like Berger Cookies.
I’ve tried to like Berger Cookies. Describing it’s chocolate cream coating unashamedly caked over a crumbly vanilla cookie confection makes me want to appreciate this sweet sensation. And they’re as much a part of emblematic Baltimore as blue crabs with a Natty Boh. Supposedly since tastes change with time, I recently reacquainted myself with Baltimore’s beloved German-​born biscuit. The gobs of chocolate though smooth were exceedingly sucrose substantial ergo extremely sweet. Significant on the stomach is putting it lightly. It’s cookie both mushy in some areas and contrarily chalky in others.
Perhaps it’s an acquired pleasing of the palate I’ve still yet to procure. Either way, after years of having Berger Cookies stuffed in X-​mas stockings and given to me as gifts from out-​of-​towners, I’ve not landed «La Taste».
Would I deter anyone from trying them? Of course not. À chacun son goût. That’s just the way this cookie crumbles.

Oh my. The chocolate icing on these cookies has the consistency of play doh, but only delicious, with its thick texture that is completely moldable between your fingertips as you attempt to scrape off the excess calories from these chocolate asphyxiated shortbread cookies to make you feel better about eating three in a row, even though you claim you are a «healthy eater».
Even after one bite, these cookies will change your life. I swear.

Yikes! There must be a cup of sugar in each one of these cookies!
I’m not a total health nut, but I would like to keep my teeth intact. There is just way too much sugar in these things. It took me LOT’s of milk to get through ONE cookie. I’m just not used to the sugar shock.
While I’m a fan of soft cookies, I think the over the top sweetness ruins the flavors of the cookie.
Not recommended for health conscious people!

I’ve never been to Baltimore, but damn — this is one delicious cookie.
Late one night I was up watching «Best Thing I Ever Ate» on Food Network. It must have been the sweets edition because before I knew it the segment on the Berger Cookie Pie had me sucked in.
The next thing you know, I’m googling «Berger cookie» and found that you can order these bites of deliciousness online. Oh wow. Should I or shouldn’t I? I should and I did.
They had a small package that was only $ 5 so I took the plunge and ordered them. A week and a half later they were sitting on my desk.
I expected the cookie part to be crisp, but it’s not. It’s soft and chewy. And the fudge is … thick. And fudgy. And GOOD.
One is all you need. Two is potential overkill. A requirement is an ICE COLD glass of milk (or a bowl of vanilla ice cream!).
Glad I don’t live in Maryland because if I did, it could be trouble.

Get off your high horses people – these strange «frosting-​heavy» cookies are a local delicacy. Way back when – in my college days– after a few (ahem) «tokes» these babies were like nirvana… Nothing better. Seriously, NOTHING was better. AHHHH let’s all sing together: «memories all alone in the moonlight, I can smile at the old days, I was beautiful then… let the memory live on»
These frosted, frosted, FROSTED treats, NEVER disappoint… and I mean NEVER.

Dense and Rich are two words that can be used to describe the famous Baltimore Berger Cookie.
It’s quite similar to a Black & White cookie. The cookie part is a bit more dense and chewier. Instead of royal icing, it’s a super fudge-​y frosting/​topping that coats the top.
Really need a nice glass of milk to cut the rich sweetness of the frosting.
