Blue Door on Baltimore is a property where every guest reservation is important and special to us. We value relaxation as an important attribute of your stay. The Building is a 3800 square foot restored Baltimore Row House located in the Butcher’s hill area of Baltimore, rich in history and steps away from Patterson Park. We are minutes from all Baltimore has to offer including close proximity to the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus. The Inner Harbor, Little Italy, Canton and Fells Point are on all sides of our neighborhood making the number of things to see and do almost limitless. Owners and Innkeepers Roger Eberlin and Cecelia Bellomo have incorporated the best of their 35-​years of business and leisure travel into the guest experience at the Blue Door on Baltimore. Guests have a choice of three very large King-​size suites with private baths featuring both a soaking tub and private shower, private outside balconies, and lots of complementary services (Internet, business center, beverage service, satellite TV and music, and afternoon tea to name just a few). Whatever the need for travel is, guests at the Blue Door are offered a restful night’s sleep and amenities to make the next day start on a most positive note. In addition to the business center, weekday continental breakfasts with a made-​to-​order breakfast menu are available for those with appointments and business to attend too. For the laid-​back traveler, a Three-​Course Grand Breakfast is served.

This was my first time at Blue Door and it was wonderful. The room was spacious and very comfortable. And breakfast with Roger (owner/​chef/​host) was delightful and delicious. I don’t usually get to visit B&B’s but this visit has convinced me to make a greater effort to search them out. I will definitely plan to stay here on my next visit to Baltimore. The Blue Door was an amazing find. While celebrating our 1 year Anniversary my wife and I booked our Saturday night stay at The Blue Door. From the moment we walked into the charming little inn we were vey welcomed by Roger! Our car was safely parked in their off street parking, and Fells Point was only a 10 minute walk. We wined and dined all evening long then came back to sleep in one of the most comfortable beds I have had the pleasure to lay down in! Roger cooked an amazing breakfast the next morning and was such a great host! I can’t wait to go back and stay again!

This past weekend while traveling, I realized I never reviewed this place!
Finding the Blue Door was a happy accident for my boyfriend and I, as we were planning to stay right in Fells Point but all rooms were booked. We wanted to be somewhere close and found this place online. After reading so many wonderful reviews, we couldn’t think of a reason not to stay here. We are so glad we did.
Aside from the awkward parking (but right on premise, and locked up, which we were thankful to have) everything about our stay here was perfect!
First impressions: beautiful, calming and relaxing. Roger was a wonderful host (Ceclia and the cat were sadly not around that weekend) and greeted us warmly with a tour. He led us to our room, gave us a ton of information about what was happening in town (Fells Point Festival, which was a nice surprise!) and left us to get settled. Roger was unobtrusive but welcoming… perfect for a B&B! We were pleased to find some chocolates waiting for us in our room.
Our room was spectacular. Without a doubt the best room I have ever stay in, at a B&B or anywhere else. It was HUGE, privately set at the end of a hallway, with a huge bathroom (which included both a shower and a tub) and a great balcony with views of the Baltimore Harbor) and best of all, the amazing and luxurious bed. On average, we still talk about that bed once a week!
Our breakfast the next morning was excellent– so many pastries to choose from and an excellent mexican frittata (they happily accommodated my allergy to tomatoes) plus fresh oj and great conversation with the other guests and Roger.
It was a wonderful overnight and if we are ever back in the area I see no reason to stay anywhere else. Especially since we never met Leopold!!!

Stayed at this lovely B&b recently and loved it! The rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated. The bathroom had a wonderful soaking tub which I thoroughly enjoyed. Parking is available right out front and there are great restaurants within walking distance. I loved the luxury touches from the bedding, robe and toiletries. Breakfast was wonderful and catered to your dietary needs. I also loved that the owner called me prior to my arrival to ask if I had any dietary restrictions. Highly recommend staying here!

I love it!!! The warming owners, Roger and Cecilia, the staff plus Leopold– their Bengal cat are amazing! Everything is wonderful about this inn, from the breakfast Roger makes daily, to the conversations, cozy room, comfortable bed/​bed sheets and antique tub. I can’t say more! You have to experience it for yourself. I promise you will NOT regret it! This will be our to go place in Baltimore :)
P. S. — There are plenty more great surprises during this stay. I won’t spoil everything!

After reading many awesome review, we stayed there for our visit to national Aquarium. Excellent welcoming from the owner himself! I was pleasantly surprised by rare super friendly out of world service from owner himself and his breakfast was outstanding! No cold business manner here! Genuine friendly highest quality service I received in decade! He even let us park in the garage for us over night bc we couldnt find the parking spot and we have young one!!! Recommend to anyone who are staying in baltimore!

My daughter and I stayed 2 nights and loved every bit of it! You feel so welcomed here, the room was spectacular, very large, comfy bed, linens and aroma. The claw foot tub in the spacious bath was definitely a plus. The food was excellent (also loved the baked cookies in the evening), Roger provided us with lots of information about the area and we did not want to leave. My daughter was born in Baltimore but we moved west about 10 years ago, so The Blue Doors made our visit even more special and felt like home. The location is good, we walked to Patterson Park and visited many of our special areas. We will go back, perhaps at Christmas. So much nicer than a hotel. You will not be disappointed!

From the moment you walk in the blue front door you will feel the serenity! Leopold the cat, Roger and Cecilia make the cares of the city melt away. The rooms, (we were in Washburn) are cozy and the soaking tub beckons you in with a comfortable robe to keep you relaxed as you crawl into the soft sheets on the large, king bed! The only positive of leaving is knowing you are that much closer to your next visit!

My wife and I stayed two nights at the Blue Door on Baltimore and we can’t wait to go back! We grew up in Baltimore and Balt-​Wash area – this was our first visit in more than 10 years after moving to CA.
Roger, our inn keeper, is stellar offering a proper B&B experience. There are baked goodies in the morning and pleasant turn-​down service in the evening.
The Baltimore marble-​stepped row home is classically detailed and finely appointed. Many important architectural details were preserved in its rehab.
What’s more, the rehab of the neighborhood and surrounding area alone make Blue Door on Baltimore a PERFECT home base for anyone wishing to visit a real Baltimore neighborhood. We felt safe and secure walking to and from Fells Point into the night. Remember, this was our first visit in a decade and we’re really proud of how our Charm City has rebounded.

I typically pay $ 70 – 90 for hotel rooms, but the hotels in this range inside Baltimore had dismal reviews, so i took a deep breath + reserved 3 nights in the Washburn room (the only one left). first impressions were great: spacious room w/​king bed; 3 chairs + sitting ottoman thingie; bathtub AND shower (separately; tub has handheld sprayer); supersoft blankets (polyester microfiber); small fountain (which i unplugged); «dream machine» by the bed (couldn’t figure out how to work it); BeeKind soap + lotion by the sink; gilchrist + soames toiletries (incl. bath salts); funny floorlength hooded cotten robes (made my partner look like a cult leader [his beard didn’t help], so i told him to take it off); two more robes in closet; dvd player; rolled up yoga mat in corner; small dish of hershey’s dark chocolate kisses (anti-​oxidants!); + plate of mini cookies, white fudge (that looked like cheese cubes– surprise!), + grapes. We were met at the door by Bill, who said the owners were out. the Washburn room is on the first/​second floor (one floor up from ground floor); it’s right next to the «library», which is a teeny room (not for sitting in) w/​books (fiction, nonfiction, travel guides, yoga in a book); also, a printer; a fridge full of soda (ginger ale, root beer, diet coke, etc.); a hot/​cold water machine, coffeemaker, and basket of teas. Seems like a great place for an extended stay if you can afford it; tall closets w/​compartments for shoes; deep drawers in bedside tables. Room comes with lint roller, hand crank flashlight, + hairdryer. Décor is understated + neutral; great for me because I don’t like flowery rooms. Street parking is easy to find up until 8pm, when you might have to park a block away.
Con: awkward washing my face without banging my head against the mirrored medicine cabinet. Couldn’t figure out climate control; maybe it’s housewide? Couldn’t find a thermostat in the room. For light sleepers like me, you might get woken up by other people walking up/​down stairs/​hallway.
Breakfasts: each day had a different entrée, such as tomato/​spinach/​egg frittata or french toast bananas foster. then there was assorted breads, toast, english muffins, mini scones, and fruit. Breakfast was served @9 every morning, regardless of weekday/​weekend.
We stayed Thurs-​Sat night. Very occasional street noise, pretty quiet neighborhood, except for a truck making piercing beeps as it backed up on Sat @7 a.m. (thought it was the fire alarm).
I didn’t meet Rog + Cecilia; we were hosted by the substitute innkeeper, Bill, who tried to please.

So, I’ll star with the positives… awesome rooms and a pretty good location. Price seems reasonable. The beds are great, and you’re walking distance from both the harbor and Patterson park. Bathrooms are very nice.
Roger, who runs the place, is a douche. Bed and «breakfast» is a generous phrase as the breakfast is terrible. Today he prepared eggs in a taco shell — wtf Roger. Plan on eating breakfast out; Blue Moon Café is close by. His wife is very nice, but is quite fond of talking about herself, and her workout routine, which is especially annoying. My recommendation would be to avoid them both.
You will be promised off-​street parking. This is a myth, and to actually get it, you will need to hope that the owners’ cars are not already parked in «your» spots. Additionally, you’ll be expected to use your intuition to get into the spot, as the owners will give you NO help with this — good luck.
For the money, I think that you can do way better. If you need a room last minute, go for it. Otherwise, stay in a brand name hotel.

I almost never give 5 stars. To me that means expectations are completely exceeded, and the Blue Door delivers on that.
The key here, as others have mentioned, is the price. For barely more than a conventional hotel, in fact much less than some, you get a comfortable room (my experience was the Hampstead), excellent breakfast, almost all made on-​site, and attentive service from thoughtful owners. It’s a B&B, so don’t plan on a party atmosphere, but if you’re new to the Bed and Breakfast scene it’s not a pretentious place at all, they’ll make you feel welcome.
My wife and I are both allergic to cats, and as promised the resident Bengal cat Leopold does not cause any problems at all. As they say on the website, if you don’t see the cat yourself you won’t believe one is there. Don’t miss the chance though, he’s a striking animal. This from a staunch «dog person».
I’m not sure I was so impressed by Baltimore I feel the need to return for fun, but if I do find myself there again I will absolutely return to the Blue Door, and would recommend you try it too.
One possible flaw we didn’t experience is parking. Two gated spaces are available to the rear by arrangement. Otherwise you’re on the street, and it looked like finding a space close by would have been challenging most of the times we were coming and going. We arrived by train though and used taxis or our feet (to Hopkins, which was a long-​ish but completely reasonable walk).

Best night of sleep I’ve had in months! I had to fight to get out of the bed. Turn down service with fruit and brownies waiting when I got in at night. The Washburn room is large but still homey. Such a bright and cozy secret of Baltimore. Impeccable service and friendly owners. I found the price to be extremely reasonable even before I arrived but after staying, they are extremely well priced! I came for a one-​day business trip to Johns Hopkins (walking distance); coming the night before and staying at the blue door was cheaper than taking the morning acela express in and worth the peaceful night. WIll be bringing the hubby along next time for sure!

From the comfortable large bedroom and bathroom to the scrumptious custom-​made breakfasts, the entire experience was more than we could have anticipated. I highly recommend it.

This is a wonderful B and B in Baltimore. The innkeepers are nice, the breakfasts delicious, and the Hampstead room is spacious, serene, and oh so comfortable. I imagine the other rooms are similarly wonderful though I have not seen their interiors.
