BWI Thurgood Marshall Light Rail Station

I wouldnt give any stars if I could. Yesterday was my first (and last) time taking the light rail to and from bwi. The trains are slow. During rush hour they are more infrequent. Another passenger told me the later it gets, the less frequent trains come. It really doesn’t make sense to me considering many commuters use more than one type of public transportation. After exiting the MARC train, I waited about an hour for the light rail. It was a sheer waist of time. I waited for the light rail from about 6:50 — 7:50pm. When the train finally came, we ended up not making it all the way to Hunt Valley. By the time the light rail got to North Avenue we were told to exit the train at 8:55pm because the train was out of service. We waited 20 mins for another train. I didn’t get home until about 10:15pm.
Just horrible, inefficient, unprofessional, and unreliable service. I won’t be using the light rail again.

Follow the flow of traffic (which is going north) and it will eventually bring you to the light rail station. If you’re walking outside the terminals as I was, you will completely miss the ticket vending machine.
So when the train arrived, I had to go back into the terminal to find the danged thing and purchase my ticket. Why isn’t there a machine on the platform or even outside the door? Oh, and then it wouldn’t give me change. So my $ 1.70 ticket to Baltimore was $ 2.00. Nonsense.
Not much cover on the platform from the weather.

TAKE THE LIGHT RAIL TO BALTIMORE!!!
What more can I say for $ 1.60 from the airport to down town! It did not take too long to wait for the train nor get us close to our hotel which was down town baltimore.
Clean and safe and just watch the stops on the map so you know when to get off. Sometime it’s hard to understand what stop is being called.

Awesome airport! Accessible via trains (Amtrak, Acela, Marc Train) with free shuttle transport that is quick and frequent, short security lines, and great food choices inside. If you’re trying to get into DC from BWI, the trains are the cheapest and quickest way, as traffic into DC via taxi or Über can get expensive.

If your coming into BWI airport I found hoping on the light rail the easist way to get around baltimore along with a couple buses. Keep phones in your pockets. All day pass for train and buses was less than $ 4.00. What a deal!

This is a nice arrangement here with Amtrak & Marc train service.
There is also long term parking which is handy if you want to drive to this station & leave your vehicle in the multi-​deck garage.

Yes it’s $ 1.60, but maybe it should be more than they could make some improvements. In the airport, it’s located at the farthest place possible. It’s not underground or inside in anyway, it’s literally added onto the far, far end of the airport — unless of course you are an international arrival. Ticket purchase is simple at kiosks. No one checked my ticket though — which could also be a great way to get more money to make improvements without raising fares. The cars weren’t packed full as there were enough of them coupled together. They weren’t in great condition though. The Charm City Circulator is in a whole different league in a good way in terms of condition. The DC metro cars are also in better condition for a comparison. It wasn’t a very… comfortable environment for a few reasons. The stops in Baltimore are in a nice location to access the free Charm City Circulator to other destinations. Pretty slow ride too with several stops.

this is incredibly easy from BWI to downtown and it causes $ 1.60. Clean, safe, adjacent and frequent, you cannot beat the light rail from the airport to downtown
