Dr. Carrenard’s office has more of a «dingy basement» atmosphere than I’d normally associate with a medical office. First, let me say that Dr. Carrenard seems very nice, his staff was friendly, and even if you don’t have insurance a doctor’s visit costs only $ 40. However: if you’re used to modern doctors’ offices with clean rooms, sophisticated medical equipment, and at least some gestures toward sterility, this may not the be the place for you. Behind an unmarked door(don’t bother turning the knob; there is no latch), one block down from a XXX movie theater, this office feels like something out of the past. The examination room has walls that are wood-paneled, furniture that can be generously described as «vintage,» and what appeared to be a 1980s-era refrigerator and microwave. A work bench held a clutter of medical devices and a Physicians’ Desk Reference.(An open door revealed another room that has an old TV, amongst a bunch of other«stuff»). While I don’t doubt that Dr. Carrenard is a bona fide doctor, I was a little surprised that he didn’t wear a lab coat or any of the normal items I associate with doctors, and that my mention of a couple of well-known prescription drugs resulted in lengthy paging through a reference book. Did I mention that he only accepts cash as a form of payment? Depending on your situation, Dr. Carrenard may be a good option for you. For me, I’m going to try someone else next time.

This is a great doctor if you have a gunshot wound and don’t want to be bothered with pesky things like a police report. Otherwise skip it. Went there twice to try to get rid of a bad flu. He didn’t check my temperature, throat, or lungs. Just asked me my symptoms and gave me a prescription… that didn’t work… twice. I’m still sick and now looking for another doc.

Dr. Carrenard’s office was a little dingy, but other than that I had a decent enough experience here. It was very easy to get an appointment, I was seen right on time, and when there was a bit of an issue with my insurance company the receptionist dealt with it quickly.
