This is probably my favorite Indian restaurant close to my job. He makes an excellent Teaka masala and the put your dish is amazing, I always get it with nan and rice on the side. There is a long bar in the back as well that is open until 1AM on most nights. I’m also a member of a group called 20s and 30s vegetarians from Baltimore Columbia in DC on meet up. We are probably going to be having an event at this restaurant because it has tons of space as well as the bar plus food I don’t think you can beat that. They have been there since 98. Please support this place so that they don’t have to move they are really good people. And if you feel like checking out other vegan events let me know you can contact me on Instagram or Twitter with the same ID — jaydotsmith89 definitely ask for the vegan Paneer dish when you go.

I almost had a heart attack after eating this food. Ordered Chicken 4pc with Fries(add hot sauce). This chicken was screaming diabetes as I began eating the first piece. It was not the best chicken I’ve ever had, also not the worst. But definitely not worth having again. I ordered it on Eat24 just craving some chicken wings(which if you’ve read my other reviews you know i’m ALWAYS craving chicken wings)… didn’t realize I was ordering the whole chicken. Thigh, breast, leg and wing. Definitely a lot more food then I expected. Did I realize this was an Indian spot when I ordered on Eat24? Nah. Would I have ordered fried chicken from an Indian spot if I was aware of this? Heavens no! But you live and you learn. Very odd that their menu is so expansive… Indian food. pizza. subs. fried chicken. In my experience, a place that sells a little bit of everything usually only has one reallllly good thing(probably the Indian food I’m sure) and everything else just, ehhh. I know next time to try the chicken tika masala pizza everyone keeps raving about on the reviews…

The food is OK(if you’re into takeout). The only reason my husband I order from here is because they have chicken tenders. A little over priced for what you’re getting, but what do you expect? It’s Baltimore. And when they do deliver(or maybe I should say IF they deliver), there’s a significant chance that the person will be rude and will most likely call you to come to their car and get it because they’re too damn lazy to get out of their car and walk to the door. By the way, here’s a hint – if I wanted to go outside, I’d just go all the way to the grocery store and make myself something. But this most recent order is the last straw. I ordered food 2 hours ago and it’s still not here. No phone call to tell me they’re backed up, or that it’ll be another 15, just total silence. This is just the last straw the broke the camel’s back for me. I won’t be back. Not with Amazon Prime delivering all sorts of new options to my neighborhood.

Their Palak Paneer pizza is awesome and some of my favorite in the city, and I’ve never had a bad experience at Charles. The staff, including delivery drivers, have always been polite and friendly.

The customer service was terrible. I have ordered from them in the past and the service and food was good, but this time I waited over 2 hours for food and then when I asked for a refund they kept hanging up on me. I would never recommend them to anyone. Its sad because the food is good, but bad customer service kills a good food experience.

Horrible horrible horrible. Placed my order with them through the app order up. Waited over an hour for my food, started to get concerned, so I called the restaurant, they said that their driver was taking so long«because of the rain». The food and drinks took an hour and 15 minutes to arrive. In addition, the hard cider that I ordered from them was messed up. 4⁄6 in the 6 pack was what I ordered, but 2⁄6 was completely random beers. Will never order from this place again.

The food I ordered — Cheeseburger Sub — was not only disgusting, but I found a long strand of woman’s hair on one half of the sub after the other half was already eaten. Disgusting Disgusting Disgusting. I called and they told me a manager by the name Shane would be contacting me. I highly doubt this is the case so I’ll have to waste my time and call back.

Pretty ordinary, historic exterior; rustic, dark, and totally unassuming interior. Now, let there be food, for truly famished I am. No, I’m not particularly religious, however, there’s no law forbidding the worship of good food. Yeah, the interior looks like something out of an Ed Gein documentary, but the food is good enough to warrant a second, third, fourth — I will return!!! To eat, drink, and make merry

Ive been going here for three years, since I moved to the neighborhood. Pizza is great, the selection of other food is huge and great, full Indian menu plus other American food such as burgers etc. Their french fries are not crispy which is not my thing but others have said they love them. The secret bar is great if you just want to have someone serve you a couple boh’s while you wait for your pizza but its not really a hangout spot.

The Chicken Tikka Pizza here is the best thing ever! I get it a few times a month probably. I’m usually scared to try new foods, but I’m glad I didn’t pass this up, it’s so so good!

I don’t know how you can make chana masala gross, but they managed it. There are too many other good options in this city to tolerate that kind of nonsense.

Ordered from here on GrubHub and the food was terrible. The fried mushrooms were almost burnt. The roasted turkey dinner was warmed up lunch meat with very salty brown sauce and instant mashed potatoes. Reminiscent of school lunch cafeteria food. Coleslaw was just cabbage and mayonnaise.

I came here after hitting up the Ottobar on a Friday evening. My friend suggested splitting the chicken tikki pizza, but i knew my appetite is never satisfied with splitting a meal after several drinks. And so I ordered the Chicken Saat for myself and he, the chicken tikki pizza. I recall inhaling the Chicken Saat.

Visited a friend in Baltimore for the first time this weekend, and was greeted at the door with two questions. 1. «Are you guys hungry?» ummmmm DUH 2. «Have you ever tried chicken tikka masala pizza?» ummmm WHAT?! So yeah, that’s a thing. I’ve gotta be honest, I’m kind of an indian food noob, but since chicken tikka masala is one of the dishes that I’ve actually tried and liked, I decided to give this a whirl. Holy hell, what a delicious combo. Cheesy, salty, a lil bit spicy and a lil bit sweet. Also, garlic sauce. Totally makes up for the fact that it’s a total shadeball of an establishment. Also, it was 2pm, and the«secret bar» here doesn’t technically open til 6, but the dude offered us some Natty Bo’s and just let us chill back there in the dark. Weird paintings and christmas lights adorn the(not so clean) walls. My boyfriend and I were so impressed with this pizza that we mistakenly ordered it at another, even SHADIER Baltimore establishment the very next day before heading back to Philly. That one was totally gross but the one from Charles was excellent, I promise.

My husband and I worked out«too hard»(if there is such a thing) last evening, and needed to replenish a LOT of calories in a hurry, so we decided to order take-out for dinner. We wanted something a little different from the usual boring choices, so we looked for options and found Charles Restaurant. They seemed to have a pretty decent menu, and I was sort of in the mood for Indian while SHM was in the mood for pizza, etc. I think you know where this is going. SHM ordered a «meat lover’s pizza», while I ordered a chicken biryani dish. Not exactly in agreement, are we? The time that it took to deliver the food was entirely too long — they were nearly an hour late when they did show up, and although the food was still reasonably hot, that’s not soothing balm when you’re starving hungry, now is it? Still, we were relatively pleased when we opened the bag/box — the food WAS plentiful, I will say that, almost too much so. Let’s put it this way — I still have nearly half of a plate of biryani left, and it’s not for the lack of trying! I can’t speak to the pizza(SHM was considerably less enthusiastic about his food, though he said he wouldn’t mind trying again), but my chicken biryani was pretty good — I would have preferred more fruit in it, but eh. I quickly dubbed it the«bottomless biryani», because it WAS — every time I thought I’d hit the bottom of the plate, I was cruelly disappointed! More food, more food, more more more… wow. And spicy? Wow, you’d best believe it was. My mouth was actually burning, quite pleasantly I might add. I actually had to stop eating it because there was so much in there that I was worried about a carb spike. The yogurt that came with it was a little suspect, though. I didn’t feel too safe eating it, as it was sort of curdled in odd spots, so I just threw that away. Shame, because I could have used it to kill the burn. Damn! In the end, I would definitely try this place again — as stated, SHM was a bit more hesitant(though when I pressed him for a reason why, he couldn’t articulate it for the life of him), but would try it again, maybe with a different item. The tikka masala pizza may be next. Overall verdict, not bad.

My fried chicken wings had some spice to it. I want to say paprika and a little bit of chili powder but who knows. Fries were alright. This place has a small bar in the back. You wouldn’t know just looking at it from the front. Nice family owns everything and are friendly.

I’ve never been to the actual restaurant but we get takeout delivered from here on a regular basis. They are consistently good. they are an indian place, a steak shop and everything in between and their eat 24 combo specials/discounts are good deals. Hubby likes the chicken tika marsala pizza, their healthier choice chicken salad and I love the lamb biryani, cheesesteak and gravy fries. They always come on time and one time they came within 15 mins. The driver always calls when he’s outside to let us know to come out and get our order. Because of this when the driver gave us the wrong order once, we called his cell and he then came back within 10 mins to give us the right one. Good delivery guys are an asset to any business. The place is a gem.
