Chris Duncan – State Farm Insurance Agent

I called this State Farm location to transfer a policy from another state. They never followed up or did anything, resulting in the policy being cancelled. Luckily the York Road location in Towson actually wants business, so I transferred the policy there instead. I never talked to Chris himself, but the people who work in his office are completely incompetent.

I’ve been with State Farm for almost 2 years now and have had nothing but great experiences; until I moved back to Maryland and Chris Duncan became my agent. Since then it has been a complete disaster. I’m from Baltimore and just moved back after living in Michigan, so I was prepared for my insurance to go up especially living in the city. I spoke with Chris personally when I initially transferred my insurance over from Michigan. He was very professional, helpful, explained everything simply and responded back to emails and calls quickly. I signed up in the first week of September, and received my first bill in the first week of October. That bill was almost $ 450! For auto insurance on 1 car and home insurance. Chris informed me in that first call that I would be paying $ 136 for the bundle. So how I’ve jumped from $ 136 to $ 400 something dollars was beyond me. Naturally, I called the office to speak with Chris so he could explain how it came to be that amount. Spoke with a receptionist who said Chris was out of the office but would call back. She then proceeded to read verbatim what I got in the mail. If I didn’t get it when I read it what makes you think you reading it to me will make me magically understand it. So for about 2 weeks we played the phone game, «Chris will be calling you today». No calls, no emails. My last attempt to call the office I spoke with the rude receptionist again, and I asked to speak with another agent or manager since Chris was unavailable. I was transferred to some woman who was the acting Manager I’m guessing but was even worse then the receptionist. She was extremely rude and unprofessional! She again read verbatim what I received in the mail. And again, if I didn’t understand it then, I don’t understand it now. She stated «I don’t know how much simpler I can put this for you» in a rude tone implying I’m stupid. Whoever that woman was should be fired. I need someone to break the numbers down for me that’s all. I told her Chris was who I originally spoke with, I want to speak with him. She then tells me Chris will not be available until After Thanksgiving because he is in training! That would have been helpful information 2 weeks ago when I first called and your lovely receptionist kept giving the run around saying he would call that day. And to this day no one has followed up with me. So do I recommend Chris Duncan as your State Farm agent… Absolutely positively not!!! That whole office should be in training, for customer service skills!

After 4+ years with StateFarm, I canceled my service today. I was billed a certain amount for my auto insurance, and was unsure why. My premium was paid, I didn’t have any accidents or claims, etc. My first attempt to call the agency, I spoke with a receptionist who stated Chris was not in the office and she would send him a text and someone would get back to me. no response. I have called 3 more times in the last 10 days and have received the same «I have no idea what this bill is for, Chris is not in the office, I will text him.» Almost 2 weeks later, I am yet to receive a phone call from this agent. I even tried calling the 800– customer service #, but was unfortunately forwarded right back to the agency. With that said, I’m taking my business elsewhere. It was easier to cancel my policy than it was to get a response about why I was being billed in the first place. Totally unprofessional and not worth the hassle.

I won’t be using this agent’s service again. I started my initial service at the end of April beginning of May. At the time I asked the agent for automatic billing. Since then I get a call once a month from his office asking about the same thing each time. I have even called the office multiple times and spoke to a young lady or receptionist, who didn’t even do her job as a receptionist, when I asked to leave a message. She said umm I guess so. Uh, how do you not know if you can leave a message. On top of that, each time I have spoken to the agent, its a brand new conversation. How do you run a business when you are un-​organized and have no customer service skills. No apology no nothing. Therefore, I am taking my business elsewhere. If you want a responsive organized agent, this office is not it!

All of Chris Duncan’s goodness and qualities are consistent. He goes above and beyond his job description to make sure that his clients are happy and satisfied. He wants them well-​informed and desires a good working relationship.
He is always available by phone, in the office during office hours, or will take time off his busy schedule and personally come out to meet with you at a coffee shop during the weekends.
