History

Established in 1971.

Costas N. Triantafilos and Tsambika Kefalas immigrated to Maryland from Greece in the mid-​1900s to realize the American Dream. She was the daughter of a shoe repairman and a seamstress. He was raised by his adopted Greek-​American family to appreciate the value of service. They married and made a life together — guided by their love of life, family, and friends and defined by their commitment to treating people well.

Together, they opened a steel workers’ tavern that has become a Maryland institution, Costas Inn — one of Maryland’s premier steamed crab and seafood restaurants, one of the state’s most trusted caterers, and increasingly a world-​wide source for the quintessential ingredients to a uniquely Maryland experience.

Today, the family tradition continues, with an undiminished passion to care for patrons like family and to serve only the highest quality and finest food and beverages available. And, with grandchildren now on board, the dedication to excellence worthy of
