Elite Event: Yelptober Fest at Horseshoe Casino

Holy guacamole (and there was plenty of that there) this was one of the best Elite Events I’ve been to. Not only did they take us around to every single restaurant in the casino to sample the fare, but they handed us free gifts galore. A Guy Fieri hardcover cookbook, Guinness Imperial Pint glass, coupon for BOGO draft, Unilocal swag: stainless steel bottles, watches, sunglasses, etc.
One thing that I really appreciated about this event was that there was no shortage of food and the variety was endless in part to the four restaurants we visited. Many events sometimes run out of food by the time the tray comes around (though I’m not complaining because businesses are kind enough to be giving the food out in the first place).
The casino manager was very hospitable and even approached us later to ask how everything was then guided us to the live music.

OMG! OMG! OMG!
I totally drank the kool-​aid.
The good people at the Horseshoe Casino pulled out all the stops.
One after the other, each food stop was better than the last.
So much delicious food from Jack Binions (porterhouse steak & cheese/​meat tray), Johnny Sanchez (shrimp taco, guacamole and chips) and Guy Fieri’s restaurants (mac & cheese burgers, old bay wings and ahi taco).
Unfortunately, I was not able to try the Guinness Blonde Ale at the meeting spot. They started serving Blue Moons after-​while. I also participated in the photobooth, but my picture was not included :(
From start to finish Horseshoe’s hospitality had me and I’m so totally going back!
The literal icing on the cake was a crafted cake by Charm city’s own Duff Goldman.
Shout out for the personalized pint glass and 2−4−1 coupon.

This was the place to be for food-​lovers!!! A big thank you and hats off to Elsa and her team, as well as Randy, our host. Everything went smoothly and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Like some others, I would’ve NEVER gone to the casino (I had planned to intentionally avoid it actually) had we not had this event. And after discovering how easy it is to get there, FREE parking, and how good the food is, I think I might go back and bring friends/​coworkers.
I went to the 6pm session and here are the highlights:
–Pulled pork sliders: these greeted us when we arrived and it was a hearty, delicious handshake indeed
–Blonde Guinness-​to be first to try it in Maryland, what a treat!
–Photobooth: we stood in front of a large check and waved fake bills around :)
Here’s what I felt were the best items from each restaurant, personally: (everything was good, of course, but this is personal taste just so I can remember what to get next time)
Johnny Sanchez:
–Guacamole & chips: there were 2 other dips, a red one and a green one. The guacamole was SO fresh and the chips were a smooth kind of chip, not like the rough, corn chips.
–Carne Asada mini tacos: I think I ate 3 of these, because they were just so good. The meat was smoldering and the garnishings of lime and onion shreds… mmm
–Crab appetizer: not sure what these were but a generous piece of lump crab sat on a chip with some Old Bay and it was fresh tasting and not-​fishy.
Guy Fieri:
–Sliders: these were a perfect size and very tasty, cooked right about medium well-​done which is just right for me.
–We got a free cookbook! How nice is that! I confess, like some others, I was overly excited/​confused and didn’t realize the cloths on top of the books were not part of the giveaway!!! But Randy came around and I relinquished the cloth, so embarrassed!
Jack Binion’s:
–Filet Mignon: get it!
Charm City Cakes:
–Red velvet cupcake: I had written an ode to this cupcake just a few minutes ago but a hiccup on my computer erased it, ugh! It was so good I rank it one of the best I’ve had in recent history. It was so good, and MOIST, that I could’ve breathed it into both nostrils if I held it any closer to my face as I was smelling it over and over. It was so good, I forgot to ask my dining companions if they wanted any and suddenly it went into my mouth and only the wrapper was left.

I’m so lucky that I got the opportunity to visit the Horseshoe Casinos in Baltimore all thanks to Unilocal and Elsa!!! Randy and the Horseshoe staff were also wonderful in guiding us throughout the casino from restaurant to restaurant. The entire evening was well-​organized and because of all the tasty beer samples and the delicious mini bites to munch on, I’m sure I gained another pound!
When we arrived, my guest and I took a stroll around the casino and boy was it fancy! It’s always fun to see the wide array of lights and Horseshoe even had a live music band playing on an two story ceiling stage. After everyone arrived to the Unilocal lounge where there was a photo booth and some tastings, we moseyed on to the other restaurants!
Our first stop was Johnny Sanchez and there I enjoyed some amazing guacamole and a crispy shrimp taco. Quite tasty! But, my favorite stop was definitely Guy Fieri’s Kitchen and Bar, where we had endless amounts of mac and cheese sliders, fried chicken, and and tuna tacos. We even received a copy of his cookbook, Guy on Fire! I couldn’t have imagined more!
And last but not least, Jack Binion’s Steak House. With a mini platter of cheese and salami to slices of steak and cupcakes from Charm City Cakes, I was overwhelmed with the food! SUCH NOMS. And I love the guinness beer cup we received! I felt so baller and elite!
This was an exceptional Unilocal Elite Event! Thanks again Elsa!!!

Unilocaltober Fest… moments after we arrived in the lounge area I had a pulled pork BBQ slider in one hand and a Guinness beer in the other. There was a photobooth in the lounge area also, with some awesome props. So I can’t wait to see the pics!
The most memorable restaurant for me during our «restaurant tour» was definitely Guy Fieri’s Baltimore Kitchen and Bar! Everything was soooo awesome… the venue, the ambiance, the food setup, even the servers were friendly… the cookbooks we received as a gift… and the FOOD!!! Yaaaasss… so somebody say mac-​and-​cheese bacon burgers… BANGING!!! *mouth waters* And although I eat shrimp maybe twice a year, the Crispy Gulf Shrimp taco from Johnny Sanchez was delicious!
By the time we got to the last restaurant, Jack Binion’s Steak… I was close to full from eating sliders, tacos, chips & dip, dry rub wings, and lots of beer! I promise you guys I paced myself!
The Unilocal cake looked awesome, but my excitement faded when I realized they weren’t going to cut the cake? *blank stare* So my Unilocal invite to this event said: «From there, you’ll experience an exclusive cake cutting at Jack Binion’s Steak featuring the baking of Charm City Cakes.» Well I had a cupcake (that tasted like it had whipped butter on top… not frosting?) that was NEXT to the cake, but there was no cake cutting. (–1 star)
Oh and the Horseshoe casino was a great venue for this event, because I’ve never been but now I definitely want to come back.

This was my first elite event but it was a ton of fun.
I’m a Baltimore city resident and voted against the casino. While I am still not an advocate for the casino, the food was wonderful. Everything was fresh and packed with flavor. Also the hospitality was great as well.

Yes this event was all that. Started with a check-​in which rewarded you with a free high five in which I forgot to get. Upon entering were offered a bottle of Guinness Blonde American Lager. I personally not being a fan of beer didn’t care to much for that and neither did mom (my plus one for the night). Then on to photos. Me and mom had fun posing to take photos. We then grabbed a seat as they were starting to fill up. We tasted a few things while in the first comfortable seated area. My favorite being the bar-​b-​que on a roll. It was just delicious. We sat and chatted with other Unilocalers as the casino workers came around to make sure you had a rewards card.
It was then time to go on tour
First stop was Johnny Sanchez. The workers in here rocked. Greeted us with more beer and on to the tables we went where there was fresh salsa, chips and guacamole that was very tasty. We also were able to sample taco and Tostitos. They also allowed us to get glasses of ice water. Shouts out to the waiter Alex who kept hearing me say mom, mom, mom as he too started calling her mom also. Too cute
Off to the second restarant…
Guy Fieri
As you walked in the smell alone was just amazing.
We were able to sample chicken drums that were juicy and taste was amazing. Along with burgers with macaroni and cheese on it. That was delicious also. I didn’t care too much for the taco with the mango salsa on it. That I could have passed on. And we also received beer also. Again, I’m just not a fan of beer. We were even given Guy Fieri cookbooks as a gift. Thumbs up.
Now this is where they lost a star by me. As we were leaving out of the restaurant my mom asked one of the host was is ok to take an extra book and she was told yes but, once we was rounded up as a team and ready to go to the next restaurant me and mom happen to be at the front of the line at this time basically the extra book that she did ask if she could take was practically snatched out of her and hand as a different host told her she was not allowed to take and extra book. He was very loud and rude about it and then he went as far as to take the towel out of her hand that was on top of the book. He proceeded to be loud about and talk to another host about it. The problem was not about having to give the book back the problem was the rudeness and the fact that it could have been done in a polite way. I have been to several events and my CM will tell you there is no need to steal as a Unilocaler because UnilocalERS know how to ask for something if they want it and have no problem in being told no as to we all know that this is an opportunity that we were awarded with that does not have to be. I am pretty sure if the tables were turned in this situation and that particular host had done the same (Ask before taking something) Only to be talked to rude and as if you were stealing something it would not have went over well. This was my moms first time attending a Unilocal event with me and to have this happen was a disappointment that just did not have to happen. Neither my mom or I was rude we just let it go. But, I know folks whom would not have responded to his rudeness as so.
We will leave it at if you are going to be a host just learn to be polite about any situation.
We didn’t let this ruin the night. So on to the third and final destination of the night Jack Binions. We were able to sample an aged platter of meats and cheese which I could have passed on. The steak we sampled was amazing and I am not even a steak eater. Mom loved the cupcakes. I didn’t sample one do to me being diabetic and knowing my limits. Last but, not least here comes another gift for us… Guinness glasses that read Elite Unilocaler. How nice?
Elsa and her team really did a wonderful job as usual. We can’t thank Elsa and her team enough as to this event could not have been possible without hard work.

Summary: This was a blast. Way to throw a party, Elsa and Horseshoe!
Some notes: Did I already say this party was amazing? I definitely did not expect this incredible amount of food, drinks, and gifts to be bestowed upon us. Such generosity! There were so many edibles that I’m positive every attendee came out overstuffed. There were even leftovers, and that typically does not happen at Unilocal events. Horseshoe hosted us in four different locations, featuring celebrity chefs, superb service, and a plethora of tastings.
Best event ever!

Thank you Elsa and Horseshoe Baltimore for an amazing event! When we arrived at the casino we entered on the ground floor and the casino and the staff was super helpful in making sure we got to where we needed to be. Once we checked in we were greeted by bottles of Guinness Blond, pulled pork sandwiches and tuna. all was amazing! Im a little bummed that i didnt get a chance to take a picture at the photo booth but it looked like a ton of fun from where I was sitting. Once the tour started our host was nothing but accommodating… he made sure everyone stayed with the group and even came around a few times to see how our experience was going. I really do feel like the Horseshoe rolled out the red carpet for us! The food at every station was delicious and the Baltimore area is making sure I enjoy sea food. I tried some stuff i wouldnt normally eat (Shrimp tacos, sashimi) but i enjoyed every bit! I was also thrilled with the giveaways at the last two restaurants! The cookbook is awesome and the glass has already made a space in my cabinet at home. I will have to say that i agree with the other Unilocaler who was a little embarrassed by the people who took more than their share of the giveaways, people should be happy that they were generous enough to give us anything.
Overall I would have to say great event (per usual) and I cant wait to go back to the horseshoe for live music and food (since im not much of a gambler)!

This was my first event as a Unilocal elite, and I could not have been happier. Is this how all events are!!! I felt so valued, important, fancy, and this was right up my alley!
My favorites:
WONTACOS from Guys restaurant. I swear, it tasted like a cheddar sun chip (the taco), with this amazingly fresh tuna tartare, topped with a wasabi mayo and some sort of sweet soy sauce. I wish I wasn’t so full because I could have eaten them all.
JOHNNY SANCHEZ: yes yes yes I will be back to eat here. My mouth is watering just thinking of the small bites with yellowtail topped with passion fruit and their potato taco.
BEER: I really enjoyed all the samples. We got to try the Guinness blond lager for the first time in Maryland. I think just the fact that we got to try for the first time, I was high on excitement the rest of the night. I’ve had all of the samples before but I love that they paired with the type of restaurant and if not, were Baltimore based. You found the way to my heard. Well done.
THE CASINO: the staff there treated us like royalty. I think it was the restaurant manager who walked around and made sure to say hi to everyone who was there for the event. I really enjoyed hearing all of the ins and outs of the restaurants and chatting away (prob too much after all the beer samples), about all the great restaurants around Baltimore and NYC.
THE SWAG: an elite watch, guy cookbook and ENGRAVED PINT GLASS. ’nuff said!!!
I bragged about the event all day and will continue to. Hospitality like this is few and far between. A HUGE THANK YOU!!!

This is in the top two Unilocal Elite events that I have ever attended!
What a great environment for an event. The food was top notch, plenty of it, and a wide variety of flavors. The free cookbook and Guinness glad with Unilocal Elite etched into it was icing on the cake.
I will be getting some Guinness Blondes to stock my fridge and will definitely be making return trips to try more of the great food.
Also, kudos to the waiter who provided me a whole tray of beer to last for the walk from the second floor to the first floor. Sir, you went above and beyond in making this a memorable Unilocal Elite Event for all in attendance!

I really had no desire to ever visit The Horseshoe but. I must admit I’m glad I went. I’m not even sure where I will begin. I will start off saying that the overall event was GREAT! Elsa you did it again… another great event.
Randy and The Horseshoe staff were amazing. They gave us some unexpected surprises which was awesome. They made us feel important and valued. The horderves before the actual Dine Around were delish. I’m not a beer drinker but we were the first people on Maryland to taste lager’s Blonde beer. Again I’m not a beer drinker but my husband loved it. All of the food was tasty especiallt the shrimp and the macaroni burger… and even the dessert. We enjoyed taking pictures with our Million dollar check and talking to fellow Unilocalers.
The Horseshoe had the right idea with this event… give up a few hundred dollars to get us to come back… you’ve got to give a little to get a lot in return. So with that said, I probably won’t go back to gamble but I will go back to eat. I would love for them to invite us back either this time next year during one of the summer months.

My second Elite event and I was not disappointed!
First off, we tried the new Guinness Blonde Ale, which turns out we were first to sample this beer in the area. Decent beer. I didn’t try any of the food that was going around at the first bar, but its probably a good thing I saved that room in my tummy. Also would like to note we were overlooking a live band playing on the lower floor, which was neat.
The first restaurant we stopped at was Johnny Sanchez. We were greetedat the door with beer pairings. I’m not sure what was given to us here, but I accepted, happily. Didn’t try any of the chips, salsa, or guacamole here because I really needed to sit down (old people problems). However, I did try the mini steak tacos and the tostadas that were going around. Delish. I have a weakness for good Mexican style food. So, I would come back here just for the food.
Secondly, we went to Guy Fierri’s place, which I was reluctant to do because Guy is not my favorite celebrity chef. We were given Octoberfest beer pairings for the food here, which did compliment what I tried nicedly. I hate to admit, but I REALLY liked the chicken wings, wish I had more than one. I had a burger slider, but it did not have the mac and cheese everyone else is talking about, so that is disappointing to know. Next time! Maybe the mac and cheese would’ve made the burger better because there wasn’t really anything special about it. just a burger. I did not like the Mini Taco thing. I’m not really sure what was in it other than that I found it to be overly sweet. Everyone got to take home a Guy Fierri Cookbook, which was nice, but I don’t know if I can own anything with Guy’s face on it, so will probably re-​gift that to my dad. Hah.
Finally, we went to Jack Binon’s. We were greeted with more beer, this time it was Heavy Seas’ Loose Cannon. This was the best, in my opinion. The steak — So good. It literally just melted in my mouth. MORE PLEASE. The cake. I could not get over the cupcakes. I had a bite of each. The cake was extremely light. I don’t think I’ve ever had cake that light. EVER. I assumed cake by Duff was going to be overrated because that’s just how things like that normally go, but I was surprised. I want more cupcakes, kthx. Then we were gifted with Guinness beer glasses, which I will not say no to — can always use more pint glasses.
The Horseshoe is a new and shiny casino and you can tell a lot of work went into making this place spectacular. The staff at each location was very attentive and super nice, they made the evening more enjoyable. I didn’t have to worry about running out of beverages or not having a napkin for my messy self.
Will I come back to the casino? Its undecided since I’m not really into gambling, but I may just come back for the food. Nothing wrong with that, in my opinion!

Let me just start off by saying, I’m exhausted and slightly hungover and STILL full, but I had the most amazing time last night.
I’d never been to a casino period, so I was blown away walking into the grand entrance and straight back to the Unilocal event. I felt like a serious high-​roller. The staff was immediately attentive and engaging; everyone had a smile on their face and was very polite as they passed around delicious pulled-​pork sandwiches and tuna. We missed out on the Guinness Blonde, but I started off with a Makers & ginger from the bar. It was definitely a generous serving and started off my night right.
The 1^st stop was Johnny Sanchez, which I will 100% be returning too soon. We had some yellowtail and tuna tacos, buffalo shrimp tacos, and chips with a variety of dips. The guac with queso fresco was delicious, but the salsa verde stole the show. We were informed that there are FREE salsa lessons every Thursday starting October 30^th, with ½ price appetizers and 2 for 1 drinks. Date night, ahoy!
The 2^nd stop was Guy Fieri’s restaurant. All I can say was the place had a great, comfortable vibe and the servers here were BY FAR the friendliest and most helpful (and that’s saying something because everyone was great). The mac-​n-​cheese bacon sliders were to die for and I loved the tuna tacos. I would come back here to watch a sports game, because there were TONS of TVs and the atmosphere was like a southern industrial sports bar. We also got a free cookbook which was AWESOME.
Last stop was the Jack Binion steakhouse. This restaurant was visually STUNNING. I could’ve missed all the food at this stop and still enjoyed myself. We sat at the bar, which was an incredible back-​lit marble with a wide assortment of top-​shelf liquor displayed rather artfully. The seats were cushioned and comfortable; I could have sat there all night. The steak was incredible. They were served in 4oz portions, and were tender and very flavorful. I also had a red velvet cupcake and charcuterie, which were both perfect.
We had such a lovely time we decided to stay and gamble a little. The gaming tables are excellent and the outside smoking areas are perfect for enjoying a nice cigar and playing around on the $ 0.25 slots :)
I’m excited to get back to the Horseshoe, even though I’m not a big gambler. This was the best Unilocal event so far and really showcased what will soon be one of Baltimore’s gem. We met some really cool people as well, so hello to all of our nice new Unilocal friends!

What an event! This is a wonderful way to be introduced to the newest addition to downtown Baltimore– The Horseshoe casino. That casino is brand new, but already feels like a Baltimore institution, and in the best way. We started off with some Guinness blonde in the bar before starting a walking tour of three restaurants. Anyone who has been to Vegas can tell you the high quality of food to be found in the casino’s restaurants, and Horseshoe more than lived up to that.
Johnny Sanchez is making some great Mexican food, and Jack Binon’s had the charm of an graceful steakhouse. But it was Guy Fieri’s place that really got me. I wanted to hate this place, because, come on — do you really need to put mac n’ cheese on a burger? Well, it turns out that yes… yes you do. Because the heavens will open and you will weep for joy over how delicious that burger is. (And they even gave us a cookbook! THANKS!). So now I love Guy’s, because of course I do!
Elsa and her team hit an Oriole level homer, and Raven worthy touchdown with this event. The Unilocal team and the staff went all out, and everything went off without a hitch.
I will definitely be back — there are some restaurants I didn’t try and I need to try my hand at poker.

Sooooo what can I say that hasn’t already been said?
Hmm I must admit I was slightly skeptical to go to the casino as whenever I pass it, it seems hella crowded. I was pleasantly surprised to realize that parking was plentiful and that this place is niiiice! I really want to go back to #nom, walk around and just explore it later on.
Elsa and her crew and Randy and his did an amazing job to make us feel at home. I’m so grateful to have tried the delicious bites. Everything was soo great! The stand outs for me were the pulled pork sandwich at 1440 and the big ol mac attack mac and cheese burger and wasabi wonton at Guy’s.
I can’t wait to venture back and try each of the restaurants out again, I need more!
The night just excelled with the superb schwag that we received. That cookbook is on point, and I can’t wait to try out the recipes.
This Elite event was a standout by far.

I’ve been to a handful of Unilocal events, and while they’ve all been great, this was the best by far. Our tour of the 3 main restaurants (Johnny Sanchez, Guy Fieri’s restaurant, and Jack Binion’s steakhouse) showcased some of their best stuff, PLUS we ended the night with an awesome Charm City Cakes cake and delicious cupcakes. The amount of free swag at this event was pretty great with the various Unilocal items plus a Guy Fieri cookbook and really nice Unilocal Elite Guinness glasses.
Elsa as usual put together a fantastic event, and the Horseshoe Casino staff provided excellent service. I don’t gamble because I suck and may as well just light my money on fire, but the casino was so nice that I’ll probably make it a point to get back here soon.

I have to say i had a great time circulating with different people. It was fun chatting and tasting the delicious offerings each place had.
Hands down my favorite moment of the night happened when John IV suddenly appeared with a tray full of glasses of beer! Only at a casino Unilocal event could this happen! LoL
The timing was perfect, the food was all great, and the cupcakes at the end were delightful.

Fabulous evening out at the Horseshoe Casino! They really know how to host a party. We started our evening of drinks and eats at the bar on the 2^nd floor overlooking the live entertainment/​band. We sampled the Guinness blond lager (1^st time ever served in MD) ahi tuna on a tortilla chip and a pulled pork slider. Off to a good start.
We headed to Johnny Sanchez for chips, 2 kinds of smokey salsa (tomatillo and tomato), guacamole and carne asada mini-​tacos topped with onion, cilantro, guacamole and micro greens. I am thinking of how yummy that taco was and how I need to go back!!!
Next stop was Guy Fieri’s Baltimore. You could smell the meat grilling upon entry. We were served a Flying dog Octoberfest and treated to a spread of old bay crispy chicken drummettes, ahi tuna won-​taco and the Mac and Cheese burger in slider size. Loved the crispy drummettes and the ahi tuna stuffed into a deep fried won ton shaped like a taco shell. Oh this is good! I loved that the burger was served on a garlicky brioche roll topped with crispy onions and Mac and cheese with a gazillion cheeses. Totally over the top but expected by the dude who visits DDD.
We finished off the night at Jack Binion’s. Picking up a small «slate» of charcuterie with cheeses and cured meats. I didn’t think I could stuff another morsel in my mouth but I tried the juicy marbled steak and finished off with the red velvet cupcake offering from Charm City Cakes.
Yes, the food and drink were terrific, but the Horseshoe hospitality was fantastic. Yes, I think we’ll make a return trip and try more on the menu. Which Elites want to join us?

Horseshoe Casino really rolled out the red carpet for us and gave us the VIP treatment!
Upon arrival, we were treated to the first tasting of Guiness Blonde Lager, ahi tuna on pita and pulled pork sliders all overlooking the live entertainment with a 360 degrees view of one casino floor. Each and every Horseshoe representative was incredibly friendly and ensured we had everything we needed.
From there, we were guided to Johnny Sanchez to munch on fresh tortilla chips with guacamole (which had a fantastic kick of heat at the end!), fire roasted salsa (incredibly flavorful) and tomatillo salsa (perfectly sweet and easily my favorite of the three!) I only had a chance to sample a carne asada mini taco but it was delicious. Great seasoning and char on the meat combined with the crunch and tang of pickled veggies on top made for the perfect two bites. I can honestly say I’ll be back again specifically for these!
The next stop was Guy Fieri’s Baltimore Kitchen and I admit that I was hesitant going in. Most everyone’s familiar with the reviews of his Time Square restaurant and I wasn’t sure what we were in for. Perhaps as a result, I was truly pleasantly surprised. The Old Bay Wings were crisp and juicy. I’m not sure why they frenched the bones like lamb chops, but ok. The sashimi won-​taco was sweet but not overly so and considering its size, one of them was enough. The Mac and cheese slider was thankfully just a slider because it was over the top but good in that smaller size. The bartenders were great about telling us which food items would pair best with either the Sam Adams or Flying Dog Octoberfest. They also very kindly gave each of us a copy of his new cookbook and a bar towel, so kudos for the extra goodies!
The steak at Jack Binions was divine, naturally. Flavorful, juicy and honestly melted like butter as you chewed it. The mini charcuterie plates were a nice touch but I do wish someone had walked us through the cheeses. The cake by Charm City Cakes was very Unilocal-​centric and fitting design-​wise. We didn’t get to cut it open since the second group needed a chance to see it so we were treated to cupcakes. The red velvet one was perhaps the one miss of the night; the cake was moist and good but fell apart too easily. The icing, which I thought was cream cheese, was more like whipped butter. Period. Not butter cream, just butter. From the talk at our table, I wasn’t the only one to think this either. Oh well.
