We are purveyors of fresh roasted, Fair Trade organic coffee which we import from 15 countries around the world. Our coffee is roasted on a state-of-the-art drum roaster made by Diedrich Manufacturing. This infra-red unit separates the gas from the beans to produce the cleanest roast possible. We are found on the shelves of all Whole Foods Markets and Wegmans Food stores in the area as well as dozens of cafes, coffee shops, and restaurants in Baltimore.
We are members of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA), the Roaster’s Guild, and Fair Trade America. With over 30 years experience roasting coffee, we labor to produce artisan quality coffee in small batches.
In our coffeehouse we employ a La Marzocco espresso machine. Built in Florence, Italy, this unit is the epitome of «old world European» quality. The Mazzer espresso grinder produces grounds at point of order, as opposed to grinders which maintain a quantity of pre-ground old coffee. You can surf on the crema!
History
Established in 2003.
High Grounds Coffee Roasters opened its doors in 2003 with a great welcome from the Highlandtown community. In addition to the Eastern Avenue location, our coffee can be found in twenty restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops around town as well as all area Wegmans, Whole Foods, Harris Teeter, and the Markets of Highlandtown.

Business Owner
Michael began his career as a Baltimore County teacher in 1977 and retired in 2010. He has been roasting coffee for 12 years beginning his training under the supervision of a Master Roaster. He is a member of the SCAA and the Roasters Guild.
