1 of the best takeout spots if SOBO, chicken gyro, chicken cheese steak, chicken deluxe, cajun chicken sandwich, meatball sub, chicken parm, one of the best Rubens. Highly recommended!

This place is disgusting, the pinnacle of drunk food. It’s a three if you’re at a ten.

I have been ordering from Hilltop for years. Their lamb gyro is amazing. They don’t load French fries in their gyros like they do in Greece which I actually prefer and Hilltop actually gives you a ton of taziki sauce.
Pizza is very good as well.

Just ordered food for tonight May 20^th 2015.
Had the WORST customer service from a delivery place I have ever had.
When I made my order online I wrote in the comments that I need it to be delivered to my apartment door, due to the fact that I have a broken leg and cannot carry it up. (Elevator building) Additionally I added a sizable tip because I requested this.
The delivery driver gave me every excuse as to why he could not do this. There is a loading zone at my entrance so parking isn’t a problem. We argued, and he ended up leaving the food at the entrance to my building. Requiring my building manager to help me bring it up.
He called me back and he said: «You don’t know me, I don’t care about you.»

The BEST buffalo chicken wrap ever! When ordering ask for extra buffalo sauce. The wrap is served with a 20 oz. drink and chips for $ 6.75.
If it’s busy, good luck finding parking.

Standard late night post-​bar carry out spot. Pizza, subs, etc. Probably won’t ever eat here before midnight, but for what it is, the food isn’t bad. It’s good to have a place like this nearby, because you never know when you’ll feel like having some greasy food after the bars close or after a late shift at work.

Best gyro and cheese steaks. Love Hilltop. My family and I have been eating here for years.
Always fresh and fast friendly service. When we get delivery the pizza always comes like it’s. Fresh out of the oven. Yummy. Staff is very friendly and always receive a smile when ordering. Best Sub shop in Baltimore hands down!

It’s a bad sign when you’re hammered and you still have the sense to realize how bad the food you’re eating is. I’ve never had anything «good» here, only things that were different degrees of «less bad.» I’ve also never eaten here sober, and for good reason.

I really wanted to like Hilltop, but the pizza was just so bad. Their location is great, but their pizza was consistently disappointing. Whether it is by the slice or a whole pie, it is just lacking. The crust is dry and tasteless, the cheese is gummy and the sauce is bland. Any toppings you pick just make it worse. I got a cheesesteak once in an attempt to give them the benefit of the doubt and it was equally disappointing. If you are looking for a neighborhood pizza joint, this is not the place. Overpriced and consistently disappointing.

Parking is terrible and the pizza crust is dry. It is really the only place open late night but I would only go back if I was in a pinch. Customer service… thumbs down.

This is where you go when you’re drunk in Locust Point and it’s late and you’re hungry. The food seems to be mostly just OK, but stick to the basics and don’t try to get fancy with it. I don’t eat wings, but the people who do seem to enjoy them.
I agree with another reviewer who said the pizza tastes like bowling alley pizza. It’s the crust. The cheese and sauce are pretty good if you can get over the cafeteria-​food-​like crust (with the weirdest edge ever… this pizza has corners… and it’s round…)
I hope they fix their crust and extend delivery hours, but seeing as how they get tons of business from being the only late-​night drunk food place around, probably not!

What happened? I lived at this place 3 years ago… my wife was pregnant and I needed fast good food. I just went there today as I am on my diet tomorrow. The gyro was horrible. No more fresh cucumber, meat was cut thick, had a funny taste. I didn’t see the familiar owners face, maybe he sold it. I sure hope so because that will explain the bad food. I will not be going back… I will be going to Maria D’s I guess. But that hasn’t been the same since they sold out many years ago.

Let me start by saying that the owner seems like a nice dude, and he gave the neighborhood a good liquor store, and so thanks for that.
The problem is that the food at Hilltop is not good. I used to give them 2 stars but I just ate part of a chicken parm sub and It was not good. That was pretty much the last thing on the menu that I would recommend someone try. I like chicken parm subs. The pizza by the slice there is the second worst I have eaten in Baltimore (yay, Dmitiri’s!). I have eaten pizza at a bowling alley. Just putting that out there.
What probably pushed me over the edge was that I ordered a 12″, planning to eat it for two meals. You know, to save money. It was $ 13, which is a lot for a sub. You’d give Chik Fil A a Michelin star after eating the chicken on this thing. Worse, when I got there, the 8″ sub is like $ 6.50 on the menu, officially making it the only place in the world where ordering a bigger sub is a financial mistake. Derp.
People do still double park all over the place to get food there and so I doubt that my 1 star review will hurt their business. I just wish they would make better food so I could get it.

I’m really struggling between a 2 and a 3 star and might try this place a second time to give it another chance. We ordered the chicken gyro and mozzarella sticks to go. Much to my disappointment, and when I got home, the chicken gyro was coated (and I mean coated) with honey mustard sauce. I really don’t remember seeing that sauce being mentioned on the menu (and even if it were, who drowns any kind of sandwich/​wrap with that much sauce?). I literally had to drain and wipe it off before even attempting to eat it. The quality of the sandwich (sans sauce) was decent and the couple bites of the mozzarella sticks that were shared with me were quite delicious actually.
I think this place satisfies the late night hunger, but I suspect it’s more of a «drunk food quality doesn’t matter» kind of place. Unfortunately, it matters to me. Will update this review, should any possible future experiences differ.

Just a disclaimer, I have only been here once but the gyro and fries that I got were very tasty. I can’t say anything about their other food, but the next time I want a gyro I’m coming back here.

The absolute worst food that I’ve ever had in my entire life. Imagine my surprise when I bit into my cold steak and cheese sub only to find out that I Was so hungry that I didn’t care that the sub was completely and totally flavorless. It was so cold the cheese didn’t melt and the canned mushrooms that they just threw in there without heating them up were like rubber.
Hilltop, go ahead and get yourself some $ 1 seasonings from Shopper’s Food Warehouse and hire some people that know how to use the grill that they use as a counter in the kitchen.

Great place to stop in when (really) drunk for a slice. Don’t expect any thrills. Also, stay away when it’s crowded. There can be fights here– pretty ridiculous.

It’s not a four-​star restaurant. Hell, it’s not a restaurant. It’s a pizza and subs place in a little corner building in South Baltimore, one that would not be out of place in any northern city. If you’re after a good pizza or a great sub, then you won’t be disappointed. They’re fast, they’re reasonably priced, they stay open until the wee hours on weekends, and the portions are generous. My personal favorite is the chicken parm sub, with fries — but note that an order of fries can easily fill up two people.
Mike the owner is there most nights. He’s been doing this for 20 years, and has it down pat. His crew isn’t all that chatty, but who cares? If I want conversation, I’ll go across the street to Captain Larry’s.

I used to work down the street from this place, so it was always a good late night option after Rafters or too many pickle shots at (what used to be) Sly Fox. I admit, most of the times I ate there I was NOT sober. I did, however, try eating a slice of left over pizza the next morning, which means I was soberer, and I thought I was going to ralph.
The french fries and onion rings DO suck. Dylan G was on point with his onion ring observation. I’ve never understood why people not of American heritage can get these fried staples down. The gyro was quite tasty, given my current state. The pizza is sub par, but it is hot and right out of the oven at 2am.
So, if The Pizza Monster is out that night, all bets are off. Once false hunger sets in, all my food class goes out the window. I can’t forget to mention the hilarious run-​ins with cops at this place. Also, the overtly inappropriate employees calling you «endearing» names in another language from behind the counter, while you not-​so-​patiently wait for your food.
If you have the energy to walk a little further down the street to Lawrence, get yourself some fried chicken at Royal Farms. They have awesome chicken. Yes, the gas station. I was skeptical too at first, but my brother showed me the crispy yet still moist on the inside way — What are big bros for? Don’t forget to load your bag up with every single kind of condiment packet known to man and try them all bite by bite until they’ve «accidentally» blended together into a paint by numbers gone wrong on your to-​go box lid… Or not, whatever.

We finally tried Hilltop Carry Out. The experience started off strangely enough. I called to place the order for carry out. Large pizza pepp and mush, side salad with honey mustard, garlic bread. Simple enough. They asked for my name and hung up. How much do I owe ya? When will it be ready? Aren’t these questions the bread and butter of most phone-​based food orders? Anyway, I took a guess at the time and used the online menu to come up with my own total. Moving on…
The pizza. Well, it certainly resembled pizza in the visual sense. It was round, covered in cheese and decorated with pepperoni and mushrooms. But that’s where the similarity ended. Just by looking at it you could tell that the crust was going to be a huge letdown. I mentioned it was round. Perfectly round. Clearly the result of a pre-​made and probably frozen product. It was thin, the crust was negligible, and it had all the flavor of a warm piece of cardboard. The sauce was red and (I think) made from tomatoes. It too was bland. By this point, the cheese and toppings couldn’t even save this disaster.
The salad was a salad. Sliced peppers, onions, cukes, and tomatoes. The veg seemed fresh enough. The honey mustard «dressing» had the consistency of mayo. It was more of a spread than a dressing. The flavor was just OK.
The garlic bread was wrapped in foil and when we got it home and opened it noticed it had sogged out. It was basically a loaf of white bread smeared with garlic butter with some mozzarella cheese sandwiched between the layers. And it wasn’t sliced. Did it taste good? Sure. But what bread covered in butter and cheese doesn’t taste good?
Overall, this was a rather disappointing experience. With all of the choices available for pizza in the city, don’t bother with Hilltop.
