After a few more visits I’m updating my review and adding an extra store. In the last year or so, I’ve started finding more and more than I like here — uniquely scented bath products, a really lovely pine candle, and the occasional gift. It’s not always my first stop, but I always enjoy browsing and often find something I like these days.

My favorite Baltimore boutique! Was just in today and found several things I couldn’t pass up… a great woven basket, turkish cotton throw blanket, a yummy candle for spring, and a couple other little things. I have my eye on a lamp and will definitely be back for it in the near future.

In Watermelon Sugar is amazing. This is my go-to shop for gifts and my husband knows that I will love anything that he buys for me here! Beautiful stationary, Votivo candles, agate bookends, gorgeous shell frames. Wonderful stuff. And Leslie, the owner, is delightful.

In Watermelon Sugar is a really fun little boutique. I recently stopped in after Thanksgiving and they had the most whimsical Holiday Displays. They carry a wide variety of home décor– great baskets, glass lanterns, candles, and ornaments. They had the sweetest nautical ornaments– blown glass whales with glitter, felted dogs and cats, and even a felted walrus! I left with a felted Seal with Pom Poms… I couldn’t resist. It’s a great place to stop for a gift.

Love, so cute. I went in randomly, and wanted to buy everything in the store. Prices are very reasonable for such unique items. Highly recommended. The store owner was so sweet as well, and gave me lots of helpful tips about the neighborhood.

In Watermelon Sugar is one of those places that you just bop on into because it looks cute and you’re at the end of The Avenue– so why not? Before long, you’re clutching a chunky agate geode bookend or authentic Indian kantha quilt jewelry pouch you didn’t know you was tragically missing from your life. If this sounds like something you would do, you will love this shop. I think it is simply one of the best boutiques I’ve been in, period. And not just in Baltimore. It’s the fantastic attention to detail. There’s nothing In Watermelon Sugar that anyone NEEDS, and that’s the fun of it. This is your place for gifts and goodies to yourself. The first room includes some scents and luxury bath products(Pacifica, Tokyo Milk), along with handmade jewelry. But the second room feels like I’ve just stepped into my dream beach house. It’s very nature-y, raw, shabby chic meets Anthropolgie in here. It just makes me go nuts over things I never knew existed like sea fans and dip-dyed shells, and lamps made of coral. You can also find some of your favorite candle brands here, like Archipelago and Vance Kitira. Find unique fabric-covered ombré journals you won’t want to spoil with to-do lists, luxurious wrapping paper that is too pretty to cut, and gemstones so candy-colorful that you will want to bite them. They will wrap all your gifts in eggshell-blue tissue with a caramel-colored sheer ribbon and a little pink card. Perfection– even if you’re going to unwrap it yourself as soon as you get home. It is a treasure trove dream world in here, and it is especially magical at Christmas.

In Watermelon Sugar is a great local boutique in Hampden, way down on the east end of The Avenue(36th Street). It is well worth the effort to walk to the end of The Avenue to visit this little shoppe. The window displays are always inventive and welcoming. Inside, you’ll find upscale bath and beauty products(they carry Tokyo Milk perfumes, my personal favorite being the Gin & Rosewater), as well as gift paper, cards, some jewelry, and carefully curated home goods. They have a unique selection of books on gardening, the home, art, and design. This is a great place to buy a small housewarming gift such as a unique picture frame or some kitchen towels with fun prints on them. In the winter they also carry a nice assortment of Christmas décor and ornaments.

Beautiful store! Love love love the windows, layout and merchandise. Makes me want to buy everything. Suddenly I need a melamine tray with a turtle on it. I rarely indulge in gifts like this for myself, but awesome place to buy gifts for others. And the owner is so so nice. Picked up some cute cards to have on hand for a gift.

Come see what is at the end of the Avenue in Hampden — there IS life on the other side of Chestnut Street, after all. This store is filled with lovely items for the home and bath, with extraordinary window displays that change with amazing frequency to keep with the seasons. We loved to window shop during our weekend walks through the neighborhood and were happy to know that such a great store was in the area.

This well designed and styled shop, on the corner of Chestnut and 36th Ave stocks a nice mix of furniture and accessories for the home, and self. A nice place to visit for gift items, friendly staff to boot!

I love this store. It took me a while to make the leap down to(what seems like) the very end of The Avenue. But I’m so glad I did. They have beautifully smelling soaps and lotions in the front room and even better home décor in the back room. Its great if you need to buy some one a present(i got my friends these pretty white glass and wire hanging candles for their housewarming gift) and i have a picture frame from there made of blue wood pieces of old boats in the Phillipines. Definitley check it out if you’re in the area!
