Maryland SPCA Wellness Clinic

After moving to Baltimore, I needed to find a new vet for my sweet kitty baby. Making an appointment over the phone was easy, and they got us in about one week later. The fees for all the routine services are very reasonable; I was expecting much higher costs in this city. The veterinarian and her assistant have excellent bedside manner. My kitty is a «people cat» who loves to snuggle and make new human friends anyway, so not a difficult patient, but I feel that the staff here would do a great job even with shyer kitties. They ensured kitty’s comfort and moved quickly, which I love because we all know that our fur babies don’t like being poked and prodded very long.
The one area of improvement is that when I initially called, I did inform the receptionist that my cat would be a new patient and that we just moved here, which would have been the opportunity for her to let me know I should bring in his papers from his old vet. I did not bring them in with me, but I wish I had because it would have made the registration process so much easier than it was.

This place is wonderful. Everyone is super nice, and helpful. I’m taking my dog to the training classes here. They really do great things!

We took our kitty and doggy to the vet here a couple weekends ago. The facility was very clean and all the staff was very nice. The doctor was not pushing products on us which was really nice. We had quite a few concerns with our animals health and he addressed all of our concerns. Definitely recommend this vet!

I’ve been taking my beasts to MDSPCA Wellness Clinic, and no problems so far. You can tell the staff, both the vets and the techs, loves animals and knows how to handle them. On my first visit, the vet there made it a point to get to know my cats and give them treats. They even waived the fee for a visit once when it turns out that nothing was wrong. Scheduling can be a little difficult because they don’t always answer their phone. Weekends are usually booked so if you have a medical problem as opposed to an emergency, you’ll have to go on a weekday.

Really saddened by today’s experience. On Wednesdays, they offer no appointment walk-​ins for pet exam with vaccinations. I have 6 dogs and a couple months ago, I brought 3 of them in and made HPH my new vet clinic. I spent several hundred dollars on that visit. They treated me wonderfully. One of those dogs, Sammy, started getting a lump on his chest 3 days ago. It has grown rapidly in size over the last 3 days and has me very worried, as it looks really odd and has gotten so big. Knowing that they take walk-​ins on Wednesday, I brought Sammy up there without an appointment just so they could take a quick look at him and see if it looked like a bite or something I needed to have looked in to more seriously. The heartless «lady» at the front desk refused to let Sammy be seen and didn’t care if it might or might not be something serious. Keep in mind that when I brought my dogs there last time on walk-​in Wednesday, they did full exams and blood tests on the dogs before giving the vaccines. So it’s not like exams aren’t done on Wednesdays, because I’ve had them done. Taking a quick look at him, something I was willing to pay full price for, would have been the same thing they did last time, but even less work for them. She was so cold, heartless and didn’t care. What if it’s cancer and it could have been caught today? What if it’s not anything serious that I need to worry about and I could have found that out today? Either way, she shouldn’t be working at a vet clinic with that little love for an animal. I will be withdrawing all my pets from their care and finding a new vet. One that loves my pets as much as I do. It’s a shame, because the doctors there are wonderful.

I have been going to HPH for a couple years. They are awesome. Not only are they always on time and polite, they aren’t so expensive that it breaks your wallet. Both doctors that I’ve seen remind me of the Dog Whisper. They are super gentle and caring when handling your pet. Keep up the good work HPH!

I recently had to have my pet dog of 11 years euthanized. It was extremely difficult for the entire family. Hampden Pet Health was understanding, compassionate and caring. We were in the room during the entire procedure and they made what could have been a very stressful situation as stress free as possible. We were allowed as much time as needed after the procedure to be with our pet. Thank you Dr. Ranappa and Dominic for everything.

I have a 6 month old Siberian Husky and I’ve been taking him to Hampden Pet Health since I got him. They’ve been excellent and friendly since our first visit. Each time we walk in, the staff seems legitimately happy to see him and always takes a minute to pet him and say hi.
A few weeks ago we took him here for his neutering. Apparently, he was pretty feisty when they were giving him the initial shots before the anesthesia. This would probably irritate many people, but they took it in stride and now they joke with us about it.
A week or so after he had the operation, he bit at his stitches and ripped some of them out, causing us to be pretty concerned. The next day on Sunday morning, we called them and they said we could come in that same day at noon. We took him in and both a vet tech and the veterinarian both examined him, determining that he was almost completely healed and would be absolutely fine at this point.
The best part of this? They did this absolutely free of charge. I was expecting to pay the fee for a regular visit and would have been totally okay with that just for the peace of mind.
Most of their pricing is openly available on their website and they truly feel like a genuine neighborhood business. You can’t take your pet gorilla here and you won’t find any pictures of the vets posing with Kanye West, but what you will find is great, friendly service.
