Monro Muffler Brake & Service

SOOOO. in July of 2013 I purchased brand new tires from Monro. I even added road side protection to all of my tires. Fast forward a few months ago, when I went to a different company for an oil change. They said I would need new tires soon. Went to a different company for an oil change after that, they said the same thing. TF! I go back to Monro today for them to check my tires out and ask about the warranty. Turns out, Monro in 2013 did not put on the tires that they said they did in 2013. 3 of the 4 tires were made by a different manufacture and had different numbers than listed on my receipt. Cause I keep ALL receipts for car maintenance.
Now my supposed warranty is void, road hazard/​tire protection is void and all of the money I put into these new tires has turned out to be dishonestly paid. sigh.

This review is for the staff (Manager at the time was Dan) when I came in for these tires. The new manager who helped me yesterday as only been at this location for a month now. He and his employee were very friendly.

Took the wifes Ford Edge in to have the brakes done all the way around. When they got it I knew the front rotors might need to be lathed to stop a vibration. I opted to get the pads for life option not knowing what I was getting into.
When I got the car back within two days the pads were squealing in both the front and the rear. I took it back and the manager «gave» me new rotors up front. This addressed some of the trouble but the rears continued to squeak and squeal. Took it back again and was told it was rust???
If the rotors had been properly turned this shouldn’t have been a problem. All rotors show rust around the edges after they get wet. Don the manager refused to deal with it any further.
Took the car to another mechanic and here’s what I was told. The previous brake job had been done with the cheapest parts available using semi-​metallic pads that wear out quickly. That more than likely the mechanic who did the work damaged my emergency brake in the rear causing additional damage, (no wonder they didn’t want to look at it)
The car has 185k miles on it, Monro did what was the third complete brake replacement at 165k. When I had this last brake job done Monro’s work had 20k on the front and rear pads. You can’t tell me something isn’t wrong when both sets have failed completely in 20k miles of highway driving when the previous average was over 50k.
You want quality work that will last… I wouldn’t go here.

It’s close to my house. I can walk home or ride my bike if I have to leave the car. Its a little weathered, which fits the neighborhood.
I also tend to distrust the super clean spit and polish of the dealerships and their clean Star Trek uniformity, now of course that may change once I get some real money and a snooty luxury car, but until then a garage should be a garage. One day I will gladly pay $ 100+ for an oil change but until then $ 30 works just as well.
The manager is smart and personable. One of the mechanics is from my hometown in Virginia (Kismet). I have been going here through three cars now and its comfortable.
