From the amazing décor to the delicious food — this place has it all!!! I had the Hangover fries, the crab mac n cheese and the David’s Whole-Lotta Burger… all were spectacular, but the Hangover fries were exceptional! Whoever thought of pairing fries, gravy and fried eggs together deserves a medal! The crab mac n cheese was good too, but the burger really stood out! Perfectly cooked, smothered in sweet espresso gravy and mushrooms on a ciabatta bun… yea…it was beautiful Highly recommend this place especially for the décor — its like I was transported back to the 90’s — toys, toys, toys and wall of pez dispensers! Overall — a must see place. I highly recommend it. Next time I have to try the milkshakes!

I debated between 3 and 4 stars for this review, but ultimately, when I think about my experience, the first thing that pops into my head is the bad service. Therefore, 3 stars. I’ll start with the good. The food: I had the potato cake and asparagus tower, which was great. Also, the«Kaptain Krunch» milkshake was fantastic. I loved the quirkiness of the entire place. The décor, the people, everything. The bad. The service wasn’t terrible, per se, but we waited for over 2 hours for our food. Granted it was during peak dinner hours, but there were at least 3 tables near us that were seated, received their food, and left before our food made it to our table. We even had one table offer to share their fries with us because they felt bad about getting their food before us. There were only 3 people at our table, so I can’t chalk it up to having a large group. My best guess is that the waiter forgot to put our order in. When we asked about our food, he got this ever-so-subtle look on his face suggesting that perhaps he had forgotten about us. People make mistakes, which I totally understand(I happen to make a lot of them), but his irritation when we mentioned that it took quite a while to get our food was severely off-putting. Had he admitted his mistake, I would have probably given a 4 star review. I would love to come back here next time I’m in town. I’m hoping that my experience was out-of-the-ordinary, as this seems to be a really cool place, and, overall, I would recommend it.

This used to be a real 24 hour diner, now you’re closed at midnight on a Friday night? The wait staff was just chain-smoking out front when my friends and I pulled up at 1:15am. LAME

Food is absolutely amazing and the atmosphere of the diner is eclectic and unique. Certainly a hole in the wall and a unique date idea or even simple stop while in the area. My boyfriend and I love coming here, and the staff is overall friendly, though service can be a bit slow.

Overall I give papermoon 4 stars. The food is more like a 3 star spot, but I have 4 star fondness for our delightfully weird diner. The staff are chill as can be. Very friendly. They do platoon serving, so we might see 5 different servers per visit. Excellent spot for kids. Easy parking across the street. Prices are good. Good veg options. The range of choices is pretty wide. I like the quesadilla variety. Burgers are also strong. Sit at the bar if you want to watch the cooks do their thing. The moon is a spot that makes me want to leave my phone in the car.

As an out-of-towner I loved coming to a place that was specific to the Baltimore area and not just some large chain. Sometimes, it can be kind of risky since you don’t know what you’ll be getting, but this place was totally worth it, and came highly recommend by a local. We got The Hangover fries to share. Which was basically fries, some type of gravy and a sunny-side up egg on the top. I’d never thought to put the 3 together before, but holy crap– It was good. You would think the gravy and fries would be too salty, but that mixed with the egg was a really great combination. For the meal, I got the Crabby Patti. Again– being from out of town I wanted something the area was known for, which I hear is the crab. And I can totally see why ya’ll are known for it at this point, because the Crabby Patti was spot on. Just enough condiments/dressings on it, a very decent/generous sized patty. If we were here as a local, I’d definitely be here at least on a weekly basis. The place itself is a whole different topic(see pictures). The place is covered from wall to the ceiling, to the menu’s to the furniture in… STUFF. I don’t know what it all is, but I like it. It’s like they bought bulk of whatever they could find at a thrift store or garage sale and put it on the walls or ceiling. Very funky. I like it. Highly recommend to local’s and out-of-towners!

I LOVELOVE this place!!! I can’t wait to go back! All the exclamation points!!! Haha It was super busy when we went, but the service was still very attentive and the food came out so fast! The kaptain krunch milkshake is so good. My friend kept stealing it from me. I miss you kaptain krunch milkshake, RIP, we will meet again. My friend ordered the«spring egg» it was perfect! Perfectly seasoned potatoes, with fresh spinach, and glazed with hollandaise. I was jealous I didn’t order what she got! I got the vegetarian pizza burger, it was tasty, lots of mushroom and cheese, almost tasted like a vegetarian chicken Parmesan. The veggie patty is rice based, which I prefer. The décor is awesome and very adhd style haha Can’t wait to go back!

Popped in for a quick Sunday supper. Both of us were very hungry, so we got a little carried away while ordering. But it was a treat, so I can’t feel too bad. We shared appetizers: artichoke heart and Asiago mini spring rolls and mozz. sticks. Both came with what looked like a homemade chunky marinara sauce for dipping. My wife liked it so much she started eating it with her fork. The mini spring rolls were crispy and flaky outside, creamy and gooey inside. My only complaint is that although they lived up to their name(they’d make a great amuse-bouche) we only got three on the plate, and for the price charged I’d like one or two more please. The mozz sticks were plentiful, on the other hand, and could make a meal themselves. Loved them to bits. Wifey got a basil, mozz and tomato omelette with a side of biscuits and homefries. The homefries were cooked well, the omelette was fluffy and perfectly balanced. I thought the herb-blasted biscuits were a bit too seasoned, but Wifey thought they were amazing. I ordered a Monte Christo breakfast sandwich(fried egg, havarti, and duck bacon nestled between 2 gorgeous pieces of French Toast) and a side of grits. Papermoon adds color and bright flavor to their rich, cheesy grits by adding red bell pepper and sweet corn. They give you a big heaping bowl if you order it a la carte, so be warned! The Monte Christo was… what’s the proper adjective? Oh yes! Sinful. The smoky salty duck bacon, the ooey-gooey havarti, the savory fried eggs, and the thick, almost custard-like French toast, dusted with powdered sugar and a drizzle of maple syrup…*wipes drool away* We should have stopped. We didn’t stop. There were desserts. I got the bacon milkshake, which is great on paper, good on tastebud impact, meh on afterthought. The sweet-salty combo of crisp bacon blended into silky chocolate ice cream tasted great, but once you swallowed you were left with a mouthful of gritty bacon pieces. Wifey’s Oreo-cookie pie was too sweet for me, but to her it was like ambrosia from the gods. I mean her eyes seriously rolled up into the back of her head. We’ll be back, sooner rather than later. There are so many cool things on the menu I want to try.

Never, ever, get the eggs benedict, you’ll be very disappointed. always overcooked as they«pre poach their eggs» the manager mentioned. «Poaching to order was too time consuming.» so in brief your not visiting this place for its cooking, but more for a different type of atmosphere.

This was my first visit to the extremely kitschy Paper Moon Diner. We went on a Saturday morning due to the line at the Blue Moon Café being too long. On the plus side parking wasn’t too bad. We parked on the street because we didn’t notice the parking lot. When I first walked in I was bombarded by the largest Pez dispenser collection that I’ve ever scene. I would’ve spent more time looking at that if not for the display case of doll heads lurking around the corner like a thousand failed Frankenstein experiments. With this very eccentric décor you would expect this place to be run by hipsters, but oh no… these are regular everyday people. No haircuts by either Justin(Bieber or Timberlake) here. We sat at a table near the counter and the stairwell down to the bathroom. I have to say that it wasn’t my favorite place to sit due to the fact that there was a strong cold breeze and people bumping into us walking through. This place was an ADHD person’s dream and nightmare with Buzz Lightyear swinging from a fire engine being held on a string by Hee-Man and a mannequin torso with jiggly eyes glued all over, but enough about the décor, I’ll talk about the food. I had the spinach, portobello and Gruyère omelet with home fries, bacon and toast. The food was pretty good. The omlet was VERY dense and stuffed with the ingredients. The bacon wasn’t bad, but at $ 4.50 for 3 slices, I think that’s a little overpriced. The other people with me had eggs and french toast, which they also said was good. The service was a little different. We had several people waiting on us which was a little confusing. Apparently it was confusing to the wait staff as well because we had two different servers bring us checks. I guess the service pseudo mimics the random furnishings. Overall, the place was pretty good, albeit a little expensive; however, the portions were quite large. I want to go back again to try some other things, so I’ll definitely be back.

My kind of place. I had the crab melt with a caesar salad. Excellent! Service was great, too. Décor and menus were entertaining. It easily earns 5 stars from me.

Took a long hiatus from a Paper Moon, but decided to return this evening for dessert. THEGOOD… –found parking easily –peanut butter crunch pie was amazing –was served promptly THEBAD. –waitress never refilled water glass –table was too low to fit my legs under –menu is still very pricey –entrance of restaurant reeked of moth balls Overall, for returning back for something as simple as dessert the experience was pretty good. I don’t know how often I’d return for an actual meal, but I’d definitely go back for dessert.

We brought my boyfriend’s Dad here because we consider this a Baltimore must-visit. Possibly the best part about coming here was watching him react to each room. Even as a Baltimore native who has been here many times, I’m still not used to the way this place looks. I absolutely love it. Overall, we had a really nice experience. I ordered Kevin’s omelette, which had goat cheese, portobello mushrooms, and caramelized onions. I even added some avocado to make it tastier. The home fries it came with were delicious. After I finished mine, I was sneaking some off of other people’s plates. My boyfriend ordered the Big Dipper, and from the one bite that I had, it was amazing. Part of me wished I had ordered that. This place is always a hoot, and I never leave without a smile on my Facebook. After all, when there are about twenty old, naked baby dolls stapled to the wall staring at you during your whole meal, how can you help but laugh?

Absolutely love Papermoon and its overall hipster/artsy feel. Everyone gets a unique menu and a choice of many unique dishes. Food is always good. I particularly like their pesto pasta and deserts. If you want to go somewhere that’s very Baltimore and has a quirky atmosphere definitely take the time to go. The servers all share tips and have a different«free-for-all» ftype of laid back service style. Great place.

Cute décor and an adorable waitress who perfectly complimented the sweetness and whimsy of the place.(Kristi! You rock!!) The menu has nice options and the portions are humongo. There are several vegan options, though the veggie nachos don’t have mock cheese, so it’s not what you may be anticipating. Minus a star because there’s no vegan milkshake option!!! I wanted one sooooooo bad(hint hint nudge nudge!) All in all, yummy and great atmosphere, ambience, people, everything. Walking out satisfied!

The décor of this place is definitely very unique and worth checking out – An impressive collection of pez dispensers, mannequins everywhere, and other random figuirines dispersed throughout the restaurant. As for the food, there is standard diner fare. I ordered an avocado, bacon, havarti omelette for dinner, because who doesn’t like breakfast for dinner. It was very good – came with potatoes and toast. My only issue is that it seemed a bit overpriced for the local diner vibe. Oh, they also have milkshakes! Apparently they are very good, but I am lactose intolerant, so I didn’t try them.

I’m going to preface this with– it’s not the strip club in Va, this is a little diner in Md. Alright, maybe the food isn’t 5 stars but the ambiance, creep factor, and atmosphere certainly are. I say this with the love. this place is creepy! It’s like your childhood playroom and all the knickknacks your grandmother gave you over 20 years of life threw up on. everything…the ceiling, the walls, everything. It was fantastic. There was this one arm less baby doll staring at me from the corner ceiling the whole time hahah. The pictures I took don’t do it justice, it’s really something you need to experience for yourself. On to the food: we started with the deep fried cheese squares. we had just come from seeing Third Eye Blind and Dashboard at Pier Six around midnight, so forgive me, I don’t remember ANY of the names of food items haha. The cheese things were AMAZING, the marinara along with them, also very good. We ordered a chocolate bacon milkshake and didn’t even finish it between two of us. I have never, and will never say this again but. it had too much bacon in it, every sip was very little ice cream and a whole lot of bacon. I was told by the table we should’ve gotten it with vanilla ice cream, whatevs. For our main dishes we ordered a chicken wrap which was tasty but a bit too spicy for me, and a cheese burger on ciabatta, this was pretty good. but the best thing were the french fries, perfectly crisp and hot. I can see us making a trip back here if we’re in the area for sure, it’s worth stopping by if you can.

This has that local diner feel with a big splash of quirkiness that’s unforgettable. I love bringing visitors here because of that very fact. Additionally, the menu is varied and extensive so as to accommodate most any diet(vegetarians, gluten-free, etc). The portions are large and filling. The service is a little lacking in that they could work on being more prompt and coordinate better amongst themselves(I was confused on who was our waiter and two different people asked about our waters… in a span of 30 seconds). The food is basic and tasty but nothing particularly spectacular in flavor or ingenuity. You generally get exactly what you expect. I’ve enjoyed my meals here but what brings me back is the atmosphere and décor. And the convenience of it being near where I live.

A part of the appeal of the Papermoon Diner is the quirkiness of their décor. The place is filled with all sorts of odd trinkets, knickknacks and randomly through together items. Throughout my time eating here, multiple people just walking past outside stopped to take pictures of the building and other items. I guess the place is part diner, part oddity museum. Like most diners breakfast is served throughout the day and fills many of the menu pages. As the saying goes when in Rome, you eat breakfast. I tried the crispy bacon, avocado and Havarti omelet. This was easily the best part of breakfast, portion size is huge more than enough to eat there and some to take home for breakfast the following day. Bacon was cooked perfectly and plentiful, more than a mouthful in each bite. Avocado was fresh and an great add on as was the Havarti, this was my first experience with Havarti and I enjoyed the creamy nature of the cheese. Hash browns were nothing to write home about and were in fact a bit of a letdown. Felt like they came right out of the freezer section of the local supermarket. Service was just eh, they appear to have a rotating group of people helping everyone. The woman who took my order I saw only for her to take my order and never again. They don’t really check in on you and only returned to delivery the check. Payment process is a bit annoying as all checks must be handled at the register which is not a spacious area. and gets more than full when the place is busy. This place has everything most diners do except with more knickknacks. Worth a visit to look around but not a must go destination.

It’s one of those eclectic places that you want to try at least once. We were visiting our daughter who lives in town and loves the place, so we thought we’d give it a try. My caprese sandwich was good — lots of fresh mozzarella and fresh herbs. I’m not a huge fan of toasting the ciabatta bread –makes it a tad bit too crunchy. I’m also not a fan of the fries — they are definitely coated with something, but the rest of the family liked them. Hubby was not thrilled with his steak & cheese — plenty of steak, but the cheese was practically nonexistent. Honestly, the biggest problem with the place is the way they do service. Don’t get me wrong, the servers were very friendly. It’s just that their system of sharing all the tables causes a lot to fall through the cracks. As others have said, you HAVE to flag someone down for everything from your drink refills to your check and for us, your actual food.
