I have been meaning to go to Picasso’s for a little bit now, as I love only a few blocks away. I went last night for carry out and Ohhhhh mmmyyyyy goodness!!! I was in LOVE. I got the drunken noodles, which was AMAZING! It had its own twist to the sauce/flavor and the noodles were cooked to perfection. It came with chicken and jumbo shrimp(about 6⁄7 pieces of HUGE shrimp) which a perfect meat to vegetable ratio. My boyfriend got the chicken chesapeake with lump crabmeat on top and sides of macaroni and cheese and collard greens. The crab meat was perfectly cooked and lump, as advertised. The macaroni and cheese was honestly probably the best Mac and cheese I have ever had in my life. My boyfriend and I are foodies and try 1 – 2 new restaurants in Baltimore, DC, and surrounding areas every week, so that is saying a lot! The collard greens were perfectly made, not too soft or overly cooked, and seasoned immaculately. We also got a side of wings with mumbo sauce. It was nice to be able to get mumbo sauce in Baltimore annnnd the wings were crispy without having to ask. Picasso’s will definitely be a cheat meal in constant rotation :)

Maybe 4 and a half, but i am feeling generous so 5. This is a review for the Lounge. One of the better nights that i have had in Baltimore and who knew that this spot was right down the street from where i live. So a couple of friends of mine after doing HH @ La Cuchara, decided to go to Picasso’s. So the place has a restaurant and coming to find out a lounge. say what. It was on and popping, initially they were playing a mix from a player good tho. and the live DJ came in. and we went in. Drinks were ok. too strong dont expect a drink menu. The owner took me on a tour of the place, and almost everyone including patrons were nice. Now, we ordered finger foods by and large to soak the alcohol, the wings were good i had two, and i ordered ½ rack of ribs to go which i thought was an entrée but it was just a ¼ of a rib not sure what that was all about. Anyhow, family owned place with friends helping out. I will try the food a different time but the lounge was great.

I am so excited about this place! My boyfriend and I originally thought we’d go to Paper Moon for dinner but they had a line out the door. We went over to the Dizz and they only had room at the bar. So we got back in the car and I told him to just drive and see if we come across something. Then I noticed something new had appeared where Beatnik used to be and we decided to stop. I’m so, so glad we did! When we walked in around 7 or so there were three people seated at the bar, all of whom seemed to be people who work there. No one else was around. They were all really friendly and seemed really excited to see us so after a quick look at the menu, we decided to stay. A young woman gave us a tour of the dining area and their lounge space. A young man brought our waters and took our orders. I decided on the Reggae wrap because I was intrigued by the vast array of tasty-sounding ingredients. I’ve been looking for a good soulfood place in the area, though, and I consider mac & cheese to be a good test of a chef’s skill in that arena, so I got an order of that too. My boyfriend ordered the seafood po’ boy and fries. We were not disappointed! The wrap was an intriguing mixture of flavors: avocado, mango, maple, plantain, lettuce, Thousand Island dressing, and an assortment of other little bits like, craisins, onions, and tomato. It wasn’t my favorite thing I’ve ever eaten but it was definitely well made and refreshingly unique. If you’re really into wraps, I definitely recommend it. But the mac & cheese, now — oh man, was it good!!! The only mac & cheese I’ve had that’s better is my mom’s, and that’s only because she includes buttery toasted bread crumbs on top of hers. The mixture of cheeses at Picasso’s was perfection. My boyfriend loved his po’ boy and was especially in love with the secret sauce. I snagged one of his fries and they have an excellent cajun-style seasoning. I would have preferred them fried a little longer(they were a little bendy and I prefer a crisper fry), but they were still quite excellent. The portions are big, though not ridiculously so. As to the atmosphere, it’s kind of divey but they’ve done a lot so far with a difficult space and we both loved all the art on the walls. We noticed they dimmed the lights when we walked out of the room to see the lounge and we asked to light a candle that was at our table. R&B music was playing at a moderate volume while we ate. My boyfriend and I generally find R&B a little cheesy but it was kind of endearing and made great background music. Both co-owners came out to thank us for coming and make sure we were enjoying our meal. Everyone was so nice and hospitable. I can’t wait to go back again!

I had high hopes for the Beatnik when it opened in this space. It was a nice funky space with so-so food and limited bar. What attracted me was the fact that they would have live jazz occasionally and the atmosphere was intimate though divey. Unfortunately, the owners of the Beatnik couldn’t stand prosperity. They never made a real effort to succeed. Their way of getting the word out was strictly by Facebook. You had to always guess if they were open. They never had a live person to answer the phone nor an answering machine where you could leave a message. Several times I went by on their jazz nights only to find either no jazz or the place closed. I knew it was only a matter of time before they closed. I’m giving Picasso’s five stars just on the look, feel and ambience. The place is very bright with nice art on the walls. It has a welcome feel to it. I will follow up with another review after I’ve had a chance to dine and drink there. Can’t wait.

WOW. This is one hell of a good restaurant. The staff is great, the food is excellent, and the prices are great. My girlfriend and I found the restaurant after Paper Moon and The Diz were filled up. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress and other staff members and sat in the main dining room area. We were the only people there at the time(it was around 6ish on a Saturday) and they turned down the lights a bit and brought us a candle at the table. It was really cute: D The owners and staff were awesome and the food was SOGOOD!!! The macaroni is out of this world and the seafood is totally on point. The décor is really nice as well with dozens of well created paintings. Check this place out!!! Edit — this place is open Saturdays, not sure why it says on Unilocal they aren’t. Also more people came in as we ate and people seemed to be having a great time.

Also had the shrimp PO boy and it was excellent. The lady had the ribs with collard greens and Mac and cheese. Definitely as good as anything I’ve had in Atlanta. We will be back for sure.

Picasso’s is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. They have an awesome menu, I’d recommend the Po Boy with romulaide(sp?) sauce.
