History

Established in 2011.

After experiencing a difficult postpartum after her first birth, Carmen decided to try placenta encapsulation as a way to reduce her risk factors for postpartum depression and anxiety. Carmen had a vastly different postpartum experience the second time and was able to enjoy a peaceful babymoon without the blues, fatigue, or depression. Carmen felt very inspired to help other Maryland mothers achieve postpartum wellness through placenta encapsulation. Shortly after the birth of her second son, Carmen became a Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist and The Nurturing Root was born.

Since starting the business, Carmen has also become a Birth Boot Camp instructor and a postpartum doula. The Nurturing Root educates couples on natural childbirth and supports and nurtures Baltimore families through their transition with their new baby.

The Nurturing Root provides Maryland mothers and families with childbirth classes, placenta encapsulation, and postpartum doula services.
