Rosina Gourmet

Went about 3 times because it is close, but it’s way overpriced, the quality of the ingredients is poor, and it made me sick the last time. It doesn’t seem very sanitary. I had a friend go once and they ended up with several hairs in their sandwich, and then another friend told me later that the cashier handled her money and then directly made her food without putting on gloves or washing her hands. I guess that explains getting sick.

A little expensive for lunch, but really great sandwiches! The ingredients are quality, and they toast the sandwich bread perfectly. I had the basil pesto chicken sandwich because it has all my favorite things — basil, pesto, chicken, and sandwich. Did not disappoint, and I was really full after. If you eat in the restaurant (if you manage to find a seat), they will give you pasta salad as a side.

Someone needs to do something stars. s!

Keeping this review really simple…
I love the sandwiches here. They are homemade-​tasting. Casual preparation and presentation. Quick lunches and somewhat affordable. The soups are good too. I could eat soups every day for the rest of my life. The soups here aren’t anything special, but they are good.
Let me get to why this is a 2 – 3 star eatery… The service. The people behind the counter are really quite rude. I never say this (or even write reviews, short or long) after just one visit to a restaurant, I only do if have noticed it to be a characteristic of a restaurant/​bar/​café after +1 visits. I worked as a server and as a bartender for years in the past, both in casual restaurants and in more fine-​dining locations. Service & hospitality mean something to me. This place does not have good service. I continue to go (rarely) for their sandwiches and soups for lunch, since the location is in a prime corner in Canton Square, but if it were to be replaced by a different café with similar food and better service, I would 100% be on board with the change. But I do love supporting local businesses and I would like to see the service offered here improved. In terms of food, keep up the good work!

This place is a short walk from my office and is quick and convenient for takeout. I always order the prosciutto sandwich, which is basically caprese with prosciutto. It is absolutely delicious but it’s $ 12. The biggest downside to this place is that it’s so expensive. As long as you’re aware of that, the menu has tons of options, and the service is friendly and quick!

I frequent this establishment often. The sandwiches are wonderful, although staff is always unpleasant. The staff makes you feel as if your order is inconveniencing them.

Completely underwhelmed, person behind the counter was the opposite of pleasant. That doesn’t really affect my rating though as its just a sandwich shop and I don’t need great service. But my Sante Fe chicken sandiwch (and my fiancé’s) didn’t come out as advertised and were basically bread sandwiches. There was more mayo than chicken or anything else on it. Great chance I never come back.

For lunch, I love eating sandwiches. And Rosina Gourmet is a sandwich spot I’ve heard great things about. They have three locations: Canton, Downtown, and a new location in Fells Point. For this particular visit, my friend and I headed to the Canton location to get a sandwich fix.
Inside, the space is fairly small with only a few seats and a menu board on the wall. But each option looked delicious. My friend settled on the Chicken Parmesan. It was breaded chicken breast topped with provolone and homemade tomato sauce on hearty ciabiatta flat bread. This sandwich had juicy chicken, and tons of well melted cheese.
I ordered the Fresh Mozzarella Sandwich. This sandwich came with fresh cow’s milk mozzarella, tomato, fresh basil and extra virgin olive oil on a square ciabatta roll. I added grilled chicken to this sandwich and it really blew me away. The bread was soft, the cheese was fresh and it was packed with the traditional Italian flavors that I was craving. Additionally, each sandwich was served with a side of balsamic pasta salad and it was delicious.

Good food at an affordable price! Love the salami egg and cheese breakfast sandwich! Everything tastes so fresh and homemade!

Went for late lunch on a Saturday. I liked the selection of menu items overall, and would rate the sandwich I ordered — a variation of a turkey sammich on focaccia bread to be above average despite the fact that they
substitute scallions for out-​of-​stock onions. The sandwich came with a small side of passable pasta salad. Service was fine, though the place was dead– only one other customer the entire time I was there eating lunch. One weird incident that took place while I was there was when a local who must be a regular brought his small dog inside and one of the staff got a kick out of getting it to Unilocal (not to be confused with « Unilocal!») by making noises at it. Rather odd.
Overall I didn’t feel the food merited the price, so I wouldn’t give Rosina anything higher than an average rating.

We recently used Rosina Gourmet to cater our son’s baptism and were not impressed. We had ordered a variety of different sandwiches from the menu only to realize once they arrived that they were barely made with any meats/​tuna etc. For example, my tuna salad sandwich was so thin that the two pieces of bread were touching. It looked as if someone had thrown a dollop of tunafish on the bread and called it a day. We also ordered the Greek Garden Salad that (for the price) should have been made with a better quality lettuce than what they claim was «romaine». Poor excuse for a salad. We WILL give this place a thumbs up for their friendly staff and for accommodating our Sunday party by delivering our food on time and with no issues.

My go to place for lunch on Saturdays. About to run errands all day? Duck in here for a quick, delicious bite. Plus the sandwiches come with a little side salad (usually a delicious pasta salad with balsamic or pesto). My new fave is the turkey pesto brie. I also love the Mediterranean chicken, roasted veggie, and fresh mozz. Who am I kidding? They’re all good!

If you are going to charge $ 9 for a sandwich with no sides, it should be either (a) incredibly delicious or (b) big enough to feed two people. My Oven Roasted Beef was neither. The ingredients were fresh and the bread was soft, but the roast beef was overcooked and kind of dry. It was rather plain and ordinary, something I could have easily assembled at home for a fraction of the cost. I’ve had better roast beef sandwiches at other restaurants in this area for $ 2 less. I’m giving Rosina Gourmet 2 stars: 3 for the average sandwich minus 1 for the cost.

There is a giant gaping hole outside of my house on wolfe street. It is like a lovecraftian pit — an entrance to a particularly smelly hell, bordered by the sad detritus of a dead tree that I failed to water… again. I am the slayer of young trees, white birch and dogwood like blades of grass before the scythe.
I walked to Canton in order to take care of some insurance business, and I was suitably tired and hungry when I was finished. The weather was somewhere in between sweater weather and badass leather jacket weather, and of course I wore the badass leather jacket. I couldn’t let the city workers on the street outside see me in a sweater covered in cute rabbits — it simply isn’t done. The side effect of this manly decision was ending up drenched in sweat even through the cold weather that is currently settled upon Baltimore like a dreadful harpy. I was tired, and sweaty, and fairly gross. That’s when I walked into Rosina Gourmet.
The manager (owner?) was extremely pleasant. I wanted half a sandwich and even though that is not on the menu he said it was fine. The sandwich selection is brilliant, and all the ingredients are very fresh. I eventually settled on a classic Italian on a freshly baked ciabatta loaf. While the sandwich was being made I had a pleasant chat with the manager about coffee, and he made me an espresso. I smelled the coffee beans before he ground them and noted their aromatic softness, their sweet delicacy like mown hay.
The experience I am describing with detached adoration is exactly the feeling I had while eating the sandwich on my way back home. There are few times when the character of an establishment is so decisively present in its goods; in this case I can clearly see the breadth and length of their determination to make the finest sandwiches in the Canton area… and perhaps all of Baltimore. The size was perfect for my muted appetite, but if you are expecting a subway style sub that feeds nine plus one 3^rd world country of your choice go elsewhere, please. This shop is not for you. You cheap, fat ass bastard, you.

More like 3.5! I have been wanting to stop into Rosina for breakfast sandwich or lunch but bc of my schedule I could never make it to rosinas during their business hours. I finally went today… I got the prosciutto de Parma panini (w tomato, basil, mozzarella, and olive oil)… This was reallllllyyyy good! The ciabatta was SO fresh!!! I love places w good bread :) I also got a side house salad… It was plain and really not that good. Overall I really enjoyed rosinas and would Definitely go back… The only negatives are (1) the limited store hours, (2) the fact that it is quite expensive… $ 18 for panini, very small salad and bottle of sparkling water; and (3) although i loved my panini, the salad I got wasn’t very good.

Yum. I was not expecting much from a veggie sandwich but it definitely delivered and then some. The wait wasn’t bad for a fresh made sandwich and while it was $ 8, I felt really good after eating it and that’s more than I can say for most $ 4 – 5 sandwiches. Delish! And on top of all that great stuff, the staff was very friendly and helpful when I asked questions about which sandwich to order.

I love Rosina’s sandwiches! They’re definitely a cut above anything else you’ll find in the area. The ingredients are always fresh, and the combinations are creative. They have some great vegetarian options, too.
The downsides are the price ($ 8 or $ 9 per sandwich) and tiny space. Don’t plan to dine in if you have more than two people in your party — it’s just too cramped.

Good ingredients, crafted into tasty sandwiches. I appreciate the attention to detail; the sandwich fillings are evenly layered and nothing is falling outside the perimeter of the bread… I notice these things.
Couple of negatives: coffee is below-​average and the décor is dull. Oh well, it’s the sandwiches that matter. Grab one to go and a coffee from Firehouse Grind down the block.

If you aren’t up for the brunch scene and aren’t so hungover and that you can’t get here before 10:25, this is the place to come in Canton for a quiet atmosphere, a good breakfast sandwich, a cup of Bluebird coffee, and a City Paper.
Well, I should say that the atmosphere, coffee, and paper are available anytime. The breakfast sandwiches, however, disappear precisely at 10:25. I guess the eggs hatch then or something.

With the closing of the only known bagel place in Canton, finding this shop was very exciting! I was initially enamored with the breakfast menu and sandwiches until I discovered their fresh and inventive lunch menu– I don’t know what to get anymore b/​c it’s all so good! The meats and cheeses are high quality and the combination of flavors in their sandwiches (both breakfast and lunch) are fantastic.
The ingredients are fresh, the service is fast and friendly, and the prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity that you receive. I believe that this is the second location (Lombard street is the 1^st) and while I have never been to the downtown location, I can say that the food here is fantastic.
Since they focus on catering though, their hours are a bit tricky and breakfast stops promptly at 11am, if not a little earlier than that on busy catering days for them.
