Sobo Doggie Day Care & Mucky Paw Spa

Our dog Oban loves SoBo (and so do we). He goes once a week for exercise and loves it. He’s excited to arrive and just dashes right in! The staff is wonderful and we’ve never had any issues. He’s been going there for over a year-​and-​a-​half and always gets excited when we ask if he’s ready for «doggy daycare» day!

Our pitbull mix absolutely adores Sobo. We send her there for overnights while we are away on trips and she comes home exhausted and worn out. Really… she will sleep for 2 full days to recuperate from her super big fun time at Sobo. We actually use up our cell phone data watching her and giggling at the webcams while we’re on vacation! It’s entertaining and I love that we can check in on her at any time and see that she’s running around with a kong in her mouth.
We did have some concerns going into this and I thought it might be useful to share how our experience was:
— The concrete. Our dog wasn’t used to having to use the bathroom on anything other than grass. How would she do and would she bring home any bad habits from going potty on concrete all week? No. She did totally fine. In fact, we got to watch her go on the webcam one day as we were checking in! They are quick to mop it up and no bad habits were brought home!
— Our dog needs special food and has a sensitive tummy! We simply sent her food along and they accommodated us. They do supply food and treats to dogs who are able to tolerate regular food.
— Eleventy million dogs in one big room?! Yikes! Will our precious girl be okay?! From what we’ve seen and experienced, our dog does come home with a few battle wounds. But in the defense of the other dogs, our doggy is a bit pushy with her playmates. They’re dogs. They have teeth and well, it just happens.
Overall, we are super pleased with Sobo and continue to bring our dog here when we go away on vacation. We purchased a bundle of days to use to try and keep the cost down and I recommend doing that if you have upcoming trips. Keep in mind those bundle days have stipulations and I believe they are only good on weekdays. If I had one suggestion, it would be to have them use a stronger smelling shampoo on the dogs. We always have our dog groomed before coming home and she never smells as good as when we take her to her usual groomer.

Red looooooves Sobo! When he knows we’re headed in that direction, he starts yapping non stop until I hand him off to one of the staffers. He has such a good time, and he is so well cared for when he’s there, I never have to worry about how he’s doing. I know he’s having fun and the folks that work there really love him too! I’ve also boarded him there from time to time, and that’s worked out very well. Also, what’s really nice, is that If your dog gets dirty, they clean the pups up before they send them home. There have been many days that Red has smelled better coming home than going in!

The people who work at Sobo are kind and friendly. I feel safe dropping off my dog, especially when I’m able to watch him on the webcams. The only reason I took away a star is that I have a small dog (10 lbs) and they often keep him in with the bigger dogs. I don’t mind that at all– at the dog park we usually end up on the big dog side with my friends and he’s fine there. What I am concerned about is the fact that I feel like the people working are more concerned with cleaning up after the dogs than their safety. When there is a 10 lb dog in with 100 lb dogs, they really need to be more alert to the safety of the smaller dogs. I shouldn’t be using the webcams to monitor for my dogs safety rather to check in and see how she’s doing.

Sobo did a great job with grooming for me. Everyone was friendly with both me and my sometime-​demanding pup and the pricing was very reasonable. I subsequently found another groomer that I’m happy with who’s closer to home for me, otherwise I’d still be a happy customer of Sobo.

Have been taking my dog here once a week for some time now.
The folks really care about your pooch.
Only downside is that the dog may smell bad when you get him back.

My husband and I love SoBo, and so does our pup, Tyson. He’s always happy to go see his friends, and is always one happy, tired puppy when we pick him up! I also love the webcams – it gives me peace of mind when out of town that my boy is happy and healthy. You simply can’t get any better value for your money than SoBo Doggie Daycare.

When I bring my pup home from a day at Sobo, she is exhausted! It is awesome and worth double what I pay! The staff are friendly and easy to work with, and the hours are terrific. And because they have cameras in their play rooms, I can watch my dog and know she’s being treated kindly. I often see the trainers there lavishing my pup with an extra ear scratch or belly rub, and the staff play with the dogs by throwing balls or blowing bubbles (even though they don’t really need to – the dogs entertain each other!).
The only things I don’t love are that there isn’t a camera to the outside play space (and so on nice summer days I can’t see my pup romping in the pool) and my dog always comes home super smelly and dirty. But I just make sure I can go straight home for a dog bath, and it’s all good. They have grooming onsite, but she’s there so often I’d be broke if I got her a bath every visit. :)

Love this place! Always great with my dog, offer pet training classes and even add on affordable grooming. Great deal and feat place to bring your pet!

Finding a place to watch or board your dog is very difficult. After our first visit and a tour I really get the feeling these people genuinely enjoy dogs and love to play with them and tire them out.
The only thing that’s keeping them from getting 5 stars is they let them poop wherever they want and clean it up. Not helpful to a puppy you’re housebreaking I would imagine. They need a grassy area. Also, overnight and at nap time they crate and leave them alone. I really prefer places that have someone there ²⁴⁄₇ and don’t crate during nap/​sleep hours. If you don’t mind that though, this place was great.

We have used this dog day care 4 times and we will no longer use this day care. I just wanted to share my honest experience with this place.
The staff are wonderful, nice and you can tell they all love the dogs that they care for. The place is very well maintained, does not have an odor, and clean. I was expecting a smelly place upon my initial arrival to this location but I was surprised how well they keep the place.
My negative view of the place, watch out if you have an over active playful dog/​puppy that does not know how to defend their well-​being when being attacked. First I must say this is the only place where our dog has contact with any other dogs. We have a boxer puppy that was 7 months when he fist visited this establishment. All he know is play play play and he has plenty of energy. I don’t think he understands when another dog is tired of playing with him, which is the reason for our issues noted below.
First visit — was their initial temperament testing and he was there for ½ day. No problems noted. You could tell he had a good time.
2^nd visit overnight stays Fri-​Mon — So after the first over night stays once we picked up our dog we noticed that he had bite piercing on his lip area that penetrated his skin all the way through. Very small bite area so I assume it was a smaller dog/​puppy. We didn’t think anything of it and figured it was just dog/​puppy play. Also, I believe since he is still a puppy he was placed with the smaller dogs due to his size.
3^rd visit (Thurs-​Tues) — 2^nd overnight stays, we picked him and once again now noticed more bite markings. We noticed that he had a scrape on his right side about 1.5 inch long that appear to be a scratch. Also, we noticed on his right ear flap there was a bite piercing that went through. This bite mark must have been fairly new because there was a noticeable blood stain on the ear marking. Once we got him home cleaned it up and noticed the piercing. We called the day care to notify them of this marking on his ear and they stated that they did not note anything that happened during his stay there.
4^th and last visit (Fri-​Mon) — Upon dropping him off we explained our frustration with him having markings each time we picked him up. The front desk attended stated that boxers do play rough which could explain some of the markings. That is understood but after this visit I believe it was more than rough play. They stated we should call them to notify them the next time. We did that on the 3^rd visit and we didn’t get anywhere with that conversation. So why even call. We figured by stating our frustrations to them they would keep a better eye on him. I even asked, if they believe he is playing to much since he is over active can they separate him for a while so the other dogs can get a break of his nonstop play play play.
So we drop him off for another extended weekend (the 4^th visit noticed above). My wife picked him and attempted to inspect him prior to leaving. They stated that he was in the pool prior to being picked up so I guess there wasn’t anything that noticeable at that time. So we picked him up Monday around noon. Once his coat dried my wife noticed 2 major scratches on his side which appear to be major scratches. Also, I must include he was NOT around any other animals since picking him up Monday at noon. Life we do after every day care visit, we bathed him on Wednesday 6/​27, 2 days after we picked him up. During the bath I noticed 4 markings; 2 wounds to bare skin on his left side around his rib cage area, 1 wound to bare skin on his front right upper leg, and a major gash on his right lip as if he was bitten. All these wounds were to bare skin, so the hair was missing in these areas, which makes it very noticeable once his coat has dried. I thought about calling to discuss my frustrations but what good will it do now, it has happened and he’s marked up. So the best way to explain is to leave a review.
In summary if you have a dog/​puppy which you believe is very playful and will not defend himself because all he/​she know if play play play, this may not be the best option so far as a day care for you loved dog. I realize that the day care can not watch every dog carefully, but I would assume you would notice these type of activities because these scars appear to be from a agitated or vicious dog. Especially when it appears that blood could be seen on the skin. I would think twice about taking your dog here if he/​she is over active dog/​puppy that is looking to play nonstop with the other dogs in a playful manner. Now if you have a laid back, relaxed dog you shouldn’t have any problems with this day care. But if your dog is over active and nonstop play is what he/​she does be careful because your dog may irritate another dog and will get the bad end of the stick. Just want to warn future customers because it appears that these markings will be with our boxer for a while. I feel bad that our boxer experienced this.

SoBo is fantastic! The staff are well trained, caring, and absolutely have the best interest of your pet in mind at all times. The SoBo pack is family. worth every penny!

Sobo is great! I have a hyperactive border collie mix and every now and then I take him to daycare for a few days. He’s excited to go there each time and he comes home TIRED. He’s also slightly better behaved for several days after each visit. I think he just has so much energy and needs a good outlet from time to time. Daycare was the perfect solution!
The people who work here are friendly and awesome. They greet my dog by name and they remember him even if he hasn’t gone in a while. The only downside is he comes home terribly smelly sometimes, but what else would you expect after having dozens of dogs playing together all day?

Hoven loves to go to SOBO. He always comes home tired. I like the fact that they have cameras so that you can check in during the day.

Wonderful staff, and our dog loves it there. The worst part of his experience is when he has to come home (admittedly, to a bath, which he hates).

SoBo Daycare has been a fantastic find! I adopted a rescue dog 6 weeks ago and he bonded very quickly to me and therefore has some separation anxiety whenever I leave. Because of that and the fact that I live alone, I wanted him to have some more socialization. I chose SoBo because of the great reviews, price, and accessibility to I-​95. I am sticking with SoBo because of the experience! Chelsea and Samantha are really great and personable. SoBo just raised their prices a bit but they have passes available that still make it a great deal. Plus, they love dogs! The webcams they have are blocked at my work, so i have to rely on the staff’s updates. Even though he only goes 1 day a week, they remember who he is and laugh about his little quirks. He gets a «report card» after each visit that just gives a brief summary of his day. I really love that, haha.
I am actually going to be sending him a second day each week because my grad school classes started back up after the summer break and I already work full-​time. It’s worth every penny to be able to relax knowing that he is in such good hands!

Highly recommended! The people who work here are trained professionals and genuinely know about dog behavior. They have a sincere interest in your dogs and want the best for them. This is the only place I trust to leave my dog when leaving for the weekend, or even during a long day of work.

I thought the idea of dog daycare was kind of bizarre, until I had to care for a super-​active dog for a few months. I Googled some reviews of places around Baltimore. Of the ones that had good reviews, Sobo was the only one where the person answering the phone actually seemed to be happy to answer questions and explained everything to me. The price was consistent with other places in Baltimore.
I went in for a quick tour and filled out some forms. They had me drop the little guy off for a few hours as an evaluation period. This was kind of another deal point for me, the other place I was looking at wanted to charge me for what I felt like was the ‘application phase.’ The purpose is to screen dogs and keep out any aggressive ones that won’t play well with the others.
The dog adjusted to the daycare pretty fast. He was kind of nervous on the first visit (probably thought he was at the vet). By the second drop-​off, you’d think the guy forgot me by the time we walked in.
It’s set up as two huge rooms, small dog and big dog side. There’s also a patio with kiddie pool. There are webcams set up in the rooms to tune in during the day. It was all breeds and they seem to run around all day and nap, not a bad life. There’s a person hanging out with them and keeping order.
When I picked up the dog, he was ecstatic at first, and then worn out a couple of hours later. He definitely became more sociable, confident, and better behaved, so I tried to bring him at least once every couple of weeks. I’d also take him if I had weekday evening plans. When I picked him up after work, I knew that he was going to sleep or take it easy at home while I was gone that night.
All the girls that work there were really great with the dogs and seem to genuinely enjoy working there. Using dog daycare was actually an unexpected surprise and huge help. I haven’t tried any others, but don’t have any complaints about Sobo.
Tip: I didn’t know at first but there’s a service road that crosses back over 95 immediately after coming south through McHenry tunnel. I was coming from Canton so it’s actually only a few minutes’ drive going this way.

I take my dog here every time I go out of town and he LOVES it. As soon as we get to the parking lot my dog cannot wait to get inside. The staff are very nice and know you by name. The facility is clean and they have a nice outdoor space for the dogs to play in the summer time. My dog always comes home clean with his blankets washed. I have never had a problem with this facility and would recommend it to anyone.
It may seem a little pricey, but from what I have seen in the city, it’s pretty good. They leave your dog out to play most of the day and they will come home TIRED, so money well spent.
