Spa On the Square

One of the worst waxing experiences I have ever had. I SAW the lady double dipping the same stick into the wax (as in she used only 1 wax-​applying stick per person) and when I told her to STOP doing that in the future because you could spread bacterial and viral infections (including herpes and HPV) easily that way, she disagreed and said she didn’t understand. I literally explained to her that I am a physician and that was entirely no the sanitary way to wax. I made her stop the wax and told her I would never come back. She still insisted it was ok to ‘double dip’ and use just one applicator per person because germs could not be spread via the wax.
I would never EVER recommend that anyone go here for a bikini wax. I wish there was a way to get them prohibited from waxing.

I had a groupon and of course they make you call to schedule an appointment. No walks ins with Groupons. After my service there I’m feeling like they do that so that they know what kind of service to give. I had an appointment on a Saturday for a pedicure. I bought the mani/​pedi combo but only wanted to use it for the pedi so I asked if I could use the entire thing and get a french pedi which they agreed to (hence the two stars and not just one).
That being said it took more time for the woman to show up to actually do my nails then it took her her to give me the pedicure. She basically took my old polish off, rubbed some oil on my legs, lightly glossed over my feet with a pumice stone and put new polish on.
I would be really mad if I paid full price for that kind of service.

I have been coming here regularly for 2 years for manis/​pedis, and every time I am here I always have the best service. The employees are super friendly and welcoming.

I really wanted to love this place since I“m just up the street, but making an appointment was painful enough. The day before my appointment someone called me saying «Hello…who is this». I“m sorry… you called me!
Once I got there to use my Groupon for a mani/​pedi, the polish selection was small and the place was empty (they told me they could not take both myself and my sister the same day). My mani was nothing special… soaked my hands for 30 seconds remove old polish, add a lotion and paint. Pedi was the same, too-​quick job. THe clear polish on my nails peeled off within 2 days and my toes were uneven and chipping within 24 hours.
Won’t be back.

I have now lived in Canton for about one year now. I cannot tell you how much I love our neighborhood and all of the local restaurants, shops, and people. Everyone is extremely friendly and my fiancé and I love living here. We have made it our mission to eat at every restaurant and purchase something from every store on the square as we like to keep as much of the money we spend locally as possible. We have loved every single place we have been until we got to Spa on The Square. WOW, I am soooo disappointed!
We saw a Groupon for Spa on the Square. The Groupon said Three Classic Manicures and Pedicures for I don’t even remember how much. I read the fine print and it said you must call in advance to make an appointment, which I’m fine with. We tried to call and make an appointment when we first got the Groupon and they said we could make an appointment but the earliest date was 1 month away. We were a little shocked and decided to wait. We then called today and decided we would bring our good friend with us as her birthday present. This is where my disappointment comes in.
When I called the lady on the phone told me the earliest appointment was just under a month away again. She then said that the Groupon was only to be used by me, so I would have to call in and schedule an appointment a month in advance each time. I told her «That is not what the fine print in the Groupon says, but that is fine I can take this up with Groupon, I know it’s not your fault.» She then proceeded to try and argue with me about what the Groupon said. Every time I opened my mouth to speak she would interrupt me. She went on for a good five minutes with me not saying a word. I was shocked at how unprofessional she was. I actually stayed on the phone just to see how long she would continue. I could not believe how rude, and unprofessional this place was and had been. The kicker is I walked past there minutes after as I live right down the street and was going to eat on the square anyways and there were people not working. They could have taken us today, or tomorrow, or anytime, but because we purchased a Groupon we had to wait a month. That is a spit in the face to someone that lives in the neighborhood.

Ugh. Terrible. After reading the horrific reviews about having a hard time making an appointment, I booked my (groupon) appointment a month in advance. I arrived 10 minute before my appointment, which was at noon. The shop opens at noon… well, it was supposed to. One employee, without a key came a few minutes afternoon. At this point, it was me, 2 other women and the employee. Waiting… waiting…20 after 12 the owner arrives. «Sorry!» Great. They rush me in an out. I could have done a better job painting my nails… with one eye closed.

DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANYTHING. I do not understand why businesses put their business up on Groupon when they obviously treat you differently when you go to redeem it. I called on the phone to make an appointment for a Brazilian wax and before even asking what it was for she asked how I was paying. I was 15 minutes early to the appointment. The entire time I was getting waxed she was just trying to get more money out of me by proposing a deal for three waxes. She also warned me that I would probably bruise. I had never heard any stories of bruising so I was caught off guard and low-​and-​behold, I am bruised! And finally, she did not even do a correct Brazilian Wax because she did not wax the bum area and by definition it includes that area. Again, she was obviously upset that I had purchased a Groupon and was not paying full price.
One would think this «spa» would be similar to those such as: spa at the avenue or spa at the valley; IT IS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE. never go here.

I don’t understand the less-​than-​stellar reviews of this place. The owner is unbelievably kind, and the other employees are really nice too. They always do a great job on my mani/​pedis. Every time I call or come in, they recognize me, and make me feel welcomed. These people know what they’re doing, so I’m not sure I believe some of these other reviews that say otherwise.
This is a great local business that will continue to get my dollars.

Been trying to book an appointment here for a manicure and a pedicure but thinking about changing my mind. Called yesterday because I have a Groupon that will expire soon and the receptionist was the surliest person I have ever spoken to. What salon can’t book an appointment for two days ahead? They kept telling me to call back and said they «were full, what do you want me to do about it?» Yeah… contacted Groupon who graciously offered to contact the business of my behalf. I declined, I really didn’t want to ever go to the salon. Ever. I accepted Groupon’s offer to credit my purchase.

They ALWAYS have a groupon and I am not surprised. It is not a $ 40 service offered at $ 20. Their mani-​pedi is not even worth $ 20. My pedicure took 10 minutes and my manicure was even faster. My nails chipped off in a day and I had to instruct the manicurist to do a french-​style polish.
It is better to go somewhere else and pay full for a mani-​pedi than go here on a discount. Their service is not even worth $ 20.

Awful service. DO NOT buy a groupon. If you can get in they do a mediocre job. I purchased 3 mani/​pedis and scheduled the first one very easily. However I asked for an upgrade on the mani and when I went to pay the women insisted it was cash only, despite the credit card machine clearly sitting on the counter and signage that they took credit cards. This however was my only experience. I attempted to make an appoinment for 4 weeks in a row. They were perpetually full. The one time I did manage to get an appointment for one week away they refused to confirm it unless I provided them with the groupon number which I ok longer had since the women took my phone and marked the groupon as used. Thankfully groupon does refunds and I received ²⁄₃ of my money back.

DO NOT BUY THEIR GROUPON. I purchased their groupon and have found it virtually impossible to make an appointment. I have tried several times and they are «fully booked» yet when I’ve walked by during the day they are empty of customers. I have also not had good experiences talking with the women who work there, both in person and over the phone (if they answer it). There are plenty if better nail salons I would pay full price for rather than deal with this establishment.

I went to Spa on the Square on Saturday to use a groupon. The place was moderately busy, but not overwhelmingly crowded. Everyone was pleasant but nothing more than that.
My manicure is chipped 2 days later, and the second coat is noticeably smaller than the first (only painted the middle, not to the edges). I’m hugely disappointed by the experience.

I hate leaving bad reviews (this is my first) but there was honestly nothing good about this place!
The girl that did my toes, was on her cell almost the whole time. She hurt my toes a lot and didn’t even do a good job. The paint started to slough off before I even got my nails started
The nail lady did my nails in under 5 minutes… she barely touched my cuticles.
All that being said, I am headed home to redo EVERYTHING myself, it will look way better than what they did. I am just thankful I did not have this done before a special event or anything.

I bought the groupon for $ 20 and was really excited to get a manicure and pedicure so close to home. I agree with the other posts you should stay away. There were two «technicians» working and they seated me right away but left me in the pedicure chair with my feet in cold water for 20 minutes. They finally did the pedicure in about 10 minutes (not well done) then I had my manicure. She glopped on 4 layers of polish and it was impossible for all of it to dry without staying there for another hour. I went home and removed it since it was so bad. My technician was also visibly sick and the staff were passing out NyQuil to everyone who worked there. She was also blowing her nose and not washing her hands! Eww! Who wants a bunch of people with the flu touching their hands? Super unsanitary. Will not return.

I don’t know what’s up with this business, but their phone number does not work, no matter what time I call. And based on these few but poor reviews that point out consistently bad service, I’m not inclined to go out of my way to show up in person to make an appointment.
Update: I could not get Groupon to refund this for me bc apparently they did reach the business-​more luck than I ever had! They urged me to «give it a try,» but as I told them, I don’t want to risk a negative encounter and waste my money/​time. Ah well, seems they have one loyal customer so hopefully that’s enough to keep them in business…

I went here a few months ago for a brazilian on the recommendation of someone who gets french bikini waxes. Welp, no me gusta!
The woman who did my waxing was very nice, but that’s the only thing I liked.
No one wants this process dragged out, but there is a difference between getting it over with quickly and rushing… and this, my friends, was rushed.
The walls were high but didn’t reach the ceiling, which sort of weirded me out, as there was a woman getting a pedicure about 10 feet away from the room. Other than us it was empty.
When I got home, I found several broken hairs and a 2 – 3 small missed spots around the edges aaaaaand residual wax. gross.
I haven’t been back and I’m not upset.

I’ve been to this place three times now (having bought the 3x groupon) and every time I’ve seen really poor service. The owner (?) is rude at times and talks about customers behind their backs– very unprofessional. The second time I went there I had made an appointment and showed up on time. The service was sub-​par but they were busy so I shrugged it off. Later that day I listened to my voicemail and it was the owner, telling me how rude it was that I skipped my appointment and that I wasn’t to come back! They mixed up the names and thought I was someone else I suppose… but regardless, you should NEVER leave nasty threatening messages on your customer’s phones! Absolutely ABSURD!
On top of the rudeness, they just really don’t do a good mani or pedi. The tech seems sweet but inexperienced and it’s shoddy work at best.
The only highlight– services are very cheap. But you get what you pay for… so if you’re on a tight budget and don’t mind a sloppy mani/​pedi, then this is the place to go.

Being that I am so easy to please this pace really did the job. I was greated upon arrival it smelled wonderful. Not just like bleach and flowers like some places.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the previous 2 reviewers: Spa on the Square is less ‘spa’, more ‘blah’.
I purchased the 3 mani-​pedis for $ 49 Groupon, and was excited to be able to pamper myself for such a low price. I went on my lunch break, hoping to avoid the post-​work crowds. When I arrived, they did immediately seat me in the pedi chair, but took some time to get started. Once they began, I mentioned I wanted a French pedicure. The technician finished my pedi to the point of polish, but then switched to the girl next to me, saying she couldn’t do French pedicures. I indicated I was on a time budget, and proceeded to sit, unattended, for the next 30 minutes. I asked several times when they would be able to complete the pedi, but the spare technician (manager?) was nowhere to be found, despite the number of clients waiting to be served. Finally, the manager returned, and rushed through my manicure and pedicure. She was very nice and apologetic, but it didn’t make up for the lack of service.
Her reason for overbooking the salon was that she «wanted to help everyone get pretty» before the holidays, but it is far better to book conservatively and make a good first impression, than it is to cram in as many customers as possible. I left feeling stressed, and disappointed that I was roped into 2 more sessions of the same. Hopefully when I return in a few months, the Groupon surge will have died down, and the salon will book more realistic volumes. Of course, that hope may be completely misplaced. Far from an ideal experience.
