Established in 2011.

Studio L Salon is a boutique style salon tucked away in a charming Baltimore row home in the Hampden area. Located next door to The Dizz and across the street from Charm City Cakes, Studio L offers a comfortable atmosphere with a wide range of services for affordable prices. The salon opened in June of 2011 in hopes to bring a salon to the neighborhood that offers not only a positive but a motivating and comfortable environment for everyone as they take time out of their busy lives to pamper themselves. Studio L offers a wide range of services and uses top of the line, naturally derived products.

Business Owner

Lisa attended the Aveda Institute in Washington DC. With previous work experience at M Salon in Federal Hill and Elements in Towson, she knew all along her goal was to open her own salon. Her love and passion for the beauty industry has grown as she has continued education in additional color and cutting courses. She has continually taken opportunities to take classes and workshop to enhance her artistic ability in the salon. In addition to courses pertaining to her craft, Lisa also has a strong focus on the salon as a whole, and has been mentored by very successful, business savvy people. Lisa has shown her creativitythroughout her life through her love for fashion and art, doing hair has been yet another creative outlet as she embraces each person in her chair as her next masterpiece.

Once entering the beauty industry, Lisa quickly realized owning her own salon was her dream. In 2011 the space next to her families bar, The Dizz became available and she decided to take the leap to op

Having lived in Baltimore for some time now, I have tried several hair salons and stylists. This is partially due to my desire to try something new and freshen up my look every few months. Lisa, at Studio L, is one of my favorite hair stylists and her salon provides such a great experience.
Nested right by the Dizz in Remington, this row home converted to a salon provides an atmosphere that is warm and inviting. She has refreshments to sip while you wait and various products, if interested, to try in your hair. I really appreciate that she’s never tried to sell me products especially if I’m not particularly interested in them.
She is great at looking at an image I bring in or description of what type of look I’m going for and matching it. I trust her with my hair color and my hair cut and refer my dearest friends to her. Most importantly, she is affordable! She never rushes your cut and color but does respect that your time is valuable. She makes her customers feel like they’re the top priority in the salon. She has also used products on my hair that are particularly safe and not filled with harsh chemicals.

I love Studio L. I really enjoy going to the salon and the laid back vibe. Lisa is an amazing hair dresser. She really takes the time to listen to her clients and does everything to make them happy. Lisa always makes me feel so pretty! She is the best! Cut, color, highlights, you just can’t go wrong at Studio L!

I love my hair cut! I can easily wash and wear, or spend ten minutes on a quick blow out. My last cut was bad and Lisa fixed it completely. I don’t think there is anywhere with better service for a lesser price. I will be making the trip from DC to Studio L from now on. Thanks Lisa!

I had been going to Sprout, but it got to be too expensive and this place is a block away from my house. I love the convenience of online booking – although when I tried to call in at first I was put off by having to leave a message – Lisa got right back to me though so no worries there!
I like that I’m usually the only person there on Saturday mornings – sometimes the chit chat at other salons just make me feel uncomfortable – not so here! You get very personalized attention in an über relaxing atmosphere.
Every cut and wax I’ve had have been great. I agree that this business brings alot to our neighborhood and highly recommend it.

I went in for a haircut and highlights. Lisa listened to what I wanted and I asked her for her opinion, so I could get a feel for her expertise. We decided to keep the same basic color that I had, but I feel the color looks a little strawberry blonde instead of just blonde. The salon was actually pretty dirty. There was dust all over the lids to the hair products as well as hair on the floor and dirt on the wall molding. Since I was the first appointment in the morning, there should not of been any hair on the floor, so obviously it was left there from previous days. Not sure I will go back at this point.

I’m new to Maryland and was searching for someone who could fill the very large shoes of my amazing hairstylist in L.A. and Lisa did! She took her time listening to what I did and did not like and she looked at some pictures I brought in. I left so happy and will definitely be back! I received a full highlight and cut at Studio L this weekend. I am so happy with my color and I really like the cut too. Lisa does a great job. I live down the street and go to the dizz often and would not have thought to come here if not for groupon. Lisa is very warm and very welcoming. I got a great haircut. It’s a very homey welcoming space. She does eyebrows too… I think this fits a niche that is sorely missing in the neighborhood. I will definitely pop back by again if I am ever in need of beauty services.

I came here after reading some reviews and purchasing a groupon. Got a haircut and full highlights. Salon is spotless, prices even without the groupon are very reasonable and Lisa, the owner, did a fantastic job on my hair. I typically go to an expensive organic salon in Hampden, but I think Lisa has the same skill set with less pretense. Plus, her assistant gave a better head massage. Kudos to local business and I will return!

I discovered this place thru Groupon. Not only did I get a great haircut from Lisa, she is letting me divide the Groupon value into two visits. Double pampering! As for my hair, she did exactly what I wanted, but took it up a notch with her creativity. I will definitely be back for the second half of my Groupon, and again after that.

I used the Groupon for the cut and conditioning because I was interested in trying a new place, and I was pleased with what I got. I am thinking of switching here from Sprout because they are cheaper and more conveniently located (with free parking), and they use Aveda products which I love. You don’t get all the bells and whistles that you get at Sprout but they’re still quick and professional. I have long hair with a layers and they did a good job knocking off the dead ends while keeping the basic style.

I presented Whitney with an image of the color I wanted and she matched it perfectly — giving me exactly what I wanted! She even took into account the differences in length between my hair and the image and altered my look to fit. I’m so happy with the results, definitely see Whitney for any new color/​cut!

I got the $ 19 Groupon for a cut and conditioning after deciding to leave my old salon because they’re prices were getting too high for a haircut. I showed up for my appointment with Lisa. I decided to skip on the conditioning since I was going for a major change from long to short and figured I didn’t need it. If anything shows how good a hairdresser is, it’s cutting my extremely straight and fine hair short and she did a great job. I showed her a picture of what I was thinking, but told her I’m okay with her doing whatever she sees fit and she went to town. I really love it. Also, their regular prices are completely reasonable. I’m definitely planning on returning.

I’ve been going to see Whitney at Studio L for about a year and I just love this place. The prices are always reasonable and the use of organic products is really great too. The service is fab and I always leave with a great cut and color.

I am mulleted no more!
Let’s get my concerns out of the way: no one answered the phone when I called (a handful of times), even though they were wide open when I got there. I decided to chance a walk-​in based on their website. They fit me in immediately, and I got a cut with Lisa using the Groupon deal. I opted not to get the conditioning treatment — based on my own hair and judgment, and when I asked about it, she gave me her honest advice (woohoo!) that it would likely weigh my hair down — so someone else will have to speak to that.
Also, $ 15 is more than I’d like to spend on eyebrow waxing in an ideal world.
That being said, I got exactly the haircut I wanted. I didn’t even have to present a picture. Lisa listened to what I wanted done, asked about all the necessary details like where I part my hair and whether I wanted to maintain the layers that already existed. She cleaned up the cut after it was dried, and we double-​checked how my bangs looked after being blow-​dried. Super important. The products available for purchase and used in styling are Aveda, which is awesome in a non-​carcinogenic kind of way and tends to smell fantastic.
Beyond that, the place is clean and pretty without being pretentious and the two women there were friendly, easy to talk to folks. Face it: you’re not going to go back to a salon if you can’t talk to your stylist, even if the haircut is nice.
I picked up a business card, and I intend to actually keep this one.

I have been searching for a place to get my haircut in Baltimore. And you know how girls are with there hair… very protective. Well, at least, I am. I’m used to getting haircuts with my trusty Asian lady in California. I didn’t think I would find a place here for a reasonable price and someone who knew how to cut my hair. However, I got lucky! There was groupon for Studion L and I snatched it. I went in and the owner was so nice and knew exactly what I wanted. She made me feel very comfortable and assured me that she would not cut too much off, but just enough so that the dead-​ends would be off and my color (ombré) would still show. I couldn’t have asked for better. I came out very satisfied.
The studio has a very home-​y and had welcoming feel. I could see myself spending a lot of time there. I look forward to more visits.
