Wheyich

So one random Tuesday at work I received an email stating that we will be having a food truck coming to our business park area selling fresh lunches. I had to hop on this an see what was going on because my company and food trucks don’t seem to go hand and hand. I gladly went to the Wheyich food truck around noon and decided which sandwich or as I like to call them «Lady Sandwiches» because every sandwich has a females name, I wanted to try. I ordered the «Eva» it’s a shrimp salad samich with Jack and Cheddar cheese, seasoned with Old Bay, on a toasted mini sub roll. It was tasty. The shrimp were large in size and coated perfectly with the salad mix.
My coworker ordered the «Sofia» which included mozzarella, sliced tomatoes & basil pesto create harmonious perfection on grilled country white bread. I heard it was really good but re was too much cheese and not enough tomato or basil pesto. So in the end both sandwiches turned out good and I have decided that I will continue to keep going back every other week that Wheyich is there. I can’t wait to try more of the «Lady Sandwiches».
Oh and Wheyich accepts credit/​debit cards so if you are low on cash funds you can use plastic.

I’m going to be one of those people that reviews a place without having eaten the food… but not without trying.
I purchased a groupon for Wheyich valid for two grilled cheese sandwiches and two soups based on the recommendation of a friend AND the fact that their website listed a weekly lunch stop that was convenient to my place of work. Unfortunately they had switched to another location without reflecting this information on their website. Now none of their regular locations were near me.
With two days left until the promotional value of my groupon expired, I thought I could still redeem it at a food truck gathering. However when I attempted to use it, I was told that a food truck gathering was considered a «special event» and therefore the groupon was not valid. Food truck gatherings happen practically weekly in this city… how is that in any way «special»?
Not only that, but I was told that since soup wasn’t on the list of offerings, they wouldn’t know how to process my groupon anyway. I had noticed that soup stopped appearing on their menu a few weeks ago. If you’re going to offer a groupon that is redeemable for a sandwich and soup, you better have soup on your menu through the expiration date of the groupon. Or figure out a good substitution. That’s just good business sense.
I was given an unsympathetic look and no solution to my predicament. So I walked away, no sandwich in hand, a bitter taste in my mouth, and disappointed by the lack of: a) decent customer service and b) any attempt to accommodate a potential new customer.

Grill Cheese (⁴⁄₅ NOMs)
Say hello to monster cheese! It might just eat you up if you don’t watch out. I love how much cheesy goodness is in there. That is one gooey grill cheese. You just have to try it.

(05/​03/​2013) Tried different sandwiches from Wheyich at the Gathering at Penn Station North. The first was the ‘Angelina’ (steak, chimichurri sauce, provolone, on Texas Toast); steak was tender, well-​seasoned, cheese was melty, sauce was flavorful. Overall, tasty sandwich, however, we had to get a second sandwich because this one was full of grit/​sand, not just one bite with a few grains, but the whole thing was tainted to the point of inedible. Would guess that the cilantro/​parsley for the chimichurri sauce was not well-​rinsed. Returned it for the ‘Lily’ (cheddar, avocado, bacon); creamy avocado, salty but squishy, chewy bacon). Love grilled cheeses in many form, may not try again, one bitten twice shy.

This truck is rad.
It has got everything you need in a grilled cheese food truck:
— Affordable and innovative cheese-​and-​other-​stuff-​hot-​sandwiches. Which for some reason, sound all the more delectable when bearing women’s names.
— Tomato basil soup.
— I don’t give the Lone Star state much credit, but Texas Toast… It is the only way for grillé cheese.
— They do not skimp on the sam’ich ingredients either. Your bacon chee will be loaded with applewood bacon. Heaped with avocado. Seriously, that sandwich is legit.
— Friendly, easy-​on-​the-​eye staff.
Check it out. Only -.5 star for not offering different soups. C’est la fromage.

Amazing lunch!
A nice change from the normal lunch options around Fell’s Point, the food and service was great.
I knew I should have a grilled cheese, but I couldn’t resist the Philly Cheesesteak special. The bread was fresh, the cheese was hot and wonderful, and the sandwich was topped with loads of caramelized onions– perfection!
My friend chose a healthier option, roasted eggplant and roasted red peppers with pesto on grilled whole grain bread. A ton of veggies, can’t beat the price ($ 6.99) and it was outstanding!
A great find on a dreary Baltimore day, I highly recommend it!
