The Exercise Coach offers two 20-​minute workouts, twice a week that focus on total body fitness through customized muscular conditioning guided by our certified personal trainers.

Over the past 15 years, we have pioneered and perfected a refreshing approach to getting fit. Our core belief is that «muscle quality» matters more than «movement quantity.» We have created an unparalleled guided fitness experience. Our bio-​sensitive training technologies make it possible to measure your unique muscular and metabolic makeup and prescribe workouts that are perfectly appropriate for you with our right-​intensity interval training. We focus on inspiring and empowering unlikely exercisers: people who are busy; don’t like the «gym scene»; are afraid of getting hurt; or just plain don’t like exercise. History

Established in 2000.

Founded by CEO, Brian Cygan, The Exercise Coach approach is rooted in the idea of the «20-​minute stimulus.» Cygan, a former Division One Athlete and personal trainer with a degree in Kinesiology from Northern Illinois University, found that a full-​body workout could be achieved in a short amount of time using slow, controlled and safe movements of sufficient high intensity, focused on individual muscle groups.

The idea is that exercise, if it is sufficiently challenging, will stimulate the body to produce an adaptive physical response. The key is that if an exercise is challenging enough to produce the desired adaptive physical response, it can’t be done for very long. Reason being is, very simple, each muscle has a limited supply of stored energy; once that stored energy is used up, the muscles lose the capacity to perform work. As a result, a single muscle group can be worked effectively in as little as 60 seconds, making it easy to achieve a total body work.

Woody and his family own The Exercise Coach at Bannockburn.

He has been a health benefits executive and professional for over 25 years. His focus has always been directed toward developing clinically measureable programs that promote health and positive lifestyle behavioral changes. Besides his consulting experience, Woody held leadership positions for two national non-​profit organizations where he implemented and facilitated national task forces that lead to the creation of new health and pension programs for over 40,000 participants plus developed and managed health and pension programs.

Woody is dedicated to helping people develop and maintain those physical and emotional behaviors that lead to improved health with specific goals to get stronger, leaner and just feel better. The Exercise Coach is the perfect fit for Woody and his family as they guide their clients to strength for life and healthier lifestyles.
