Description

Specialties

The Trailhead Café is the locally owned and operated, year round coffeehouse in Bar Harbor, Maine. We’re the source for exceptional coffee, tea, espresso, smoothies, and healthy picnic lunches to fuel your adventures here on Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. Voted as «Best Coffee on Mount Desert Island» 2010!

History

Established in 2001.

The Trailhead Café started it’s life as a small South American coffeehouse called Café Milagro. Milagro is Spanish for Miracle and it was indeed a miracle in 2001 to find a decent cup of coffee in Downeast Maine. Espresso was almost non-existent. That all changed when Milagro got to town. Milagro brought South American coffee goodness to Bar Harbor. In the course of time Milagro discovered the mountains, ocean, backroads, and trails of the local area and the wonders of Acadia National Park. Milagro changed focus, and ownership, in 2009 becoming the Trailhead Café. We still serve the finest coffee and espresso around but added a healthy picnic lunch menu to fuel your adventures in and around Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Exceptional coffee and espresso for mornings in town and the best healthy picnic foods for afternoons of heading out onto the trails of Acadia.

Meet the Business Owner

Adam W.

Business Owner

I came to Bar Harbor over 20 years ago. Drawn by the summer ocean working as a sea kayak guide and heading into the mountains during winter to coach alpine skiing. I met my wife kayaking here and when it was time to settle down and raise a family, the choice was easy… Acadia National Park had drawn me in and we settled full-time in Bar Harbor where we’re raising our children and enjoying life DownEast. The Café was a logical progression of coming in from the cold after a lifetime of working outside (although I still commute by bicycle nearly everyday). My goal is to provide a year-round community café that supports active lifestyles with great coffee and healthy food to fuel your outdoor adventures.
