I recently bought a beautiful old house in downtown Barre City. The street and neighborhood is nice but the city has issues. Regardless, other chimney services recommended Richard for the very old two story chimney. Richard took the time to explain the in and outs of my older equipment and did an amazing job. I could not be more happy and look forward to hiring Richard for my future projects with this old house!

Hired this firm to do an «inspection.» He spent less than 10 minutes at my house. Never got up on a ladder. Spent 3 minutes in the basement and charged $ 125! What a rip-​off! I had someone inspect AND SERVICE my furnace – took an hour and they only charged $ 90! Try someone else for your chimney work. I question their ethics and competence.

Richard Dickinson operates Top to Bottom Chimney Services and he has helped me on three jobs this year and one job three years ago. I hired him this spring to rebuild a chimney on a two story 1915 Sears Craftsman house and then install a liner from the furnace to the roof. The chimney needed to be rebuilt from the attic deck to the appropriate roof level and the liner was a full liner and cap. This was a day and a half job, start to finish, and I am really pleased with the workmanship and the price. He did another liner for a one story house in Marshfield for a wood stove. Most recently he installed an Ashely/​King pellet stove and again, the installation was professionally done. He tries not to do the stove installations now because he’s so busy with the chimney work but the impressive thing about this one was the way he made sure I knew how to operate the stove and clean it properly. A great little company that thinks about safety as well as workmanship. He won’t leave until he is sure you know what you need to know and he always says thanks.
