Excellent service! I called and within 30 minutes he showed up at my house, he assessed the problem and was very honest about the repair. He got my central air unit to work but as my husband had already assessed it needs to be replaced. He gave us a good price for the replacement unit and discounted the temporary work he did today. If you’re looking for an honest, competent and accountable air conditioning and heating unit technician, meet Eric. He is the owner of A&R. The storm we had a couple of days ago messed up my air-​conditioning unit. I called an emergency air-​conditioning technician to come and look at it at night. Despite the fact that my air conditioning unit is less than a year old, this so called technician was more interested in selling me new products and services than actually fixing the problem. Sure enough, within 24 hours my air conditioning unit stopped working again.
I called my neighbor for recommendations and he immediately suggested I reach out to Eric. Eric came within two hours to diagnose the problem and fixed it within 30 minutes. The previous technician had apparently messed up all the wires. All I can tell you is that Eric was thorough and very open about his fees. No hassle, no BS.
He is local and has been a technician for 35 years. I highly recommend him.

These guys are wonderful! We have a home warranty (came with the home purchase, and it’s a joke), so they sent out their hvac company when we called about a leak. The guys came once, tooled around for a bit, didn’t even open up the unit, and then charged us $ 50 and called it fixed. Two days later it was leaking again. We called them to come back, and they (again, without even opening the unit) decided that a bunch of parts needed to be replaced. Then they said the warranty company wouldn’t cover most of it because our unit is too old. They quoted us $ 1500+. I said screw that, and called A&R after seeing other positive reviews. They came out the very next day, actually looked to see what the problem was, fixed it, and said that they would only charge us for service! They also said that if the problem persists, they’ll come back ASAP to discuss other options. I’m assuming we’ll need a new heater/​ac unit at some point, and I know who I’ll be calling! They are also super nice!!!

On July 15, at the start of the heat wave, our central air system stopped blowing cold air.
I called a major company, «H», and the technician replaced the outdoor unit capacitor and hard start unit, charged us nearly $ 425, stated that both units needed to be replaced, that systems only last 10 years, that both the outdoor unit and indoor air handler needed to be replaced due to a change in the compressor gas, and conveniently made an appointment for a sales rep to quote new units.
Within an hour and a half, the outdoor unit began to periodically vibrate loudly followed by a loud electrical humming noise. The compressor once again shut down and failed to generate cold air. This left us to continue to endure the intolerable indoor temperature of 86 degrees.
Anticipating a major investment, we called A & R the next morning. The owner, Eric, examined the outdoor compressor unit and found the hard start installed by «H» was defective and that the relay was sticking. This caused start winding in the compressor and not to disengage resulting in the compressor overheating and shutting down. He removed the hard start and after the unit ran for 20 minutes and generated cold air, they cleaned the condenser (fins) which is a simple maintenance task that «H» should have performed had they not been trying to sell complete central air systems.
The unit has been working flawlessly ever since and they even called the next day to check on us. The service call cost only $ 90.95 including sales tax. He further informed us that our R22 compressor unit could be replaced without replacing the air handler for a cost of $ 1,600 to $ 2,400.
We have researched central air systems since then and found that even HVAC pros say that all brands are the same, with the same components and operation, merely varying in price due to the brand.
We cannot thank Eric at A&R enough for his honesty and excellent service. We are very grateful to him for saving us between $ 13,595 and $ 18,540 which is the amount «H» quoted to replace the whole thing.
Please do not hesitate to call A&R. Eric is a very experienced professional, honest, prompt, and a nice person.
Please DO hesitate to call «H» who were intentionally incompetent and unfairly took advantage of the heat wave in order to sell a central air unit.
