GadgetBar was started as a mobile iPhone repair service in Los Angeles, CA out of necessity. Working as struggling musicians in L.A., business partners Brian and Nick found a quick way to make extra cash… fixing iPhones!!! They would play shows all over Hollywood and use the stage as a way to promote and announce their little side business known as GadgetBar. Brian later moved back home to the midwest to raise his son and be closer to his family. He continued the business as a mobile iPhone repair service here in Chicago but later found out that the price of gas and the stress of cold weather on electronics was not an option, so he opened a brick and mortar repair shop near downtown Barrington IL, a Northwest suburb of Chicago. Stopped in to see if they could revive my dead macbook. Didn’t have an apple tech available, but searched for a solution anyway and advised me what to do for no cost. Worked perfectly once I got home and tried the fix. Definitely service beyond the norm and recommend heartily.

I brought my Nexus 5 in for repair as it wouldn’t take a charge. Brian tried a couple of different charging ports and even ordered a new battery attempting to figure out the problem. He worked diligently and methodically at testing the different hardware issues it might be but unfortunately it turned out that the main connection was faulty and to he advised me that to repair it might cost as much as a new phone. I really appreciated his honesty and after spending all of that time on the testing he refused to accept payment. I can’t recommend them enough!

I called GadgetBar in mid October when my son’s mini Segway/​hoverboard was not working properly. I had purchased it from Amazon and the chinese manufacturer was not helpful in facilitating a return. Brian at GadgetBar told me he would do some research to see if he could help with the problem. He called me back the next day and I was amazed at the amount of research he did to see where he could purchase parts, etc. I was very impressed with his customer service and how upfront he was on whether he may be able to fix the Segway. Needless to say, Brian went above and beyond to find the appropriate parts for my son’s mini Segway and he fixed it!!! It took a while to get the parts that were needed but Brian kept in contact with me all the while to let me know where he was with the process. We are just thrilled with the results and I would recommend GadgetBar to anyone who is looking to have any electronic device fixed and most certainly a Segway!

Great job on microphone and glass repair and great support!
I got the glass on my phone fixed on vacation in Minnesota and the other company completely messed up my phone. I brought it in to Gadget Bar and they fixed the glass and microphone the same day and it has worked great since. I had another issue with my phone not ringing and they troubleshot the problem over the phone. Great place that is very fair!

Terrific. A friend of mine recommended Brian after her own experience with Gadget Bar, and he couldn’t have been nicer or easier to deal with. Came in with a cracked screen, he replaced it immediately and quickly, and when we had another issue a few days later, he fixed it for no cost. Will definitely take future phone needs to this guy!

I had broken my iPhone 6 screen and brought it in to be fixed. Though they had two replacement screens on hand, neither of them worked properly. The staff overnighted a batch of new screens and discounted the cost of the replacement. They did a great job and fixed it in 20 minutes.

Couldn’t be happier with the service here! GREAT service, reasonable prices.
I came in to have the glass of my iPhone replaced. When he found out how far I had come (about 30 minutes) he volunteered to work on it immediately so I didn’t have to make a second trip. True to his word it was ready in just 30 minutes.
As I said, I couldn’t be happier with the results. I highly recommend Gadget Bar!

I reaffirm my last post — these guys are great!
Shortly after my recent repair I dropped my phone and cracked the screen.
Forgetting that it was a holiday I stopped by the store only to find it closed. However, Brian just happened to be there and said he would take care of me. Twenty minutes later I walked out with my repaired phone.
Can’t get better service than that!

I shattered my iPhone 5 screen last night, and after reading all of the positive reviews about GadgetBar on Unilocal,I figured I’d give them a shot. Taylor not only did a fantastic job fixing my phone, he also did it within 2 hours!
Unilocal has a $ 10 for $ 20 deal with GadgetBar, so that made my new screen only $ 95. Super reasonable price, such a better deal than shelling out money for a new phone. I highly recommend using GadgetBar if your phone is out of warranty and something happens to it!

Incredibly grateful for Brian and the staff at Gadget Bar! I dropped my phone at a convention on Saturday and shattered the screen/​digitizer/​lcd. Brought it in on Monday night and the phone was finished on Tuesday afternoon. I used the coupon on the Unilocal page and I thought the price was very reasonable for completely new parts on a phone. No bulls***, just straight up honesty and quality service. I got a Otter Box so I don’t mess up my phone again. Again, very grateful, they saved the day!

Wow – these guys saved the day for me;I accidentally dropped and cracked the screen of my corporate Blackberry z10. Brought it to GadgetBar last Friday afternoon; they fixed it/​had it ready for me to pick up the following Tuesday! If I had not had GadgetBar fix my work Blackberry, my company would’ve stuck me with some random downgraded phone; Instead, sweet baby Jesus sent me a GadgetBar angel, and now I’m back in business with my fixed up Blackberry! Thank you, sweet baby Jesus and GadgetBar! Hollah!

Avoid Apple store at woodfield, come here.
I made the mistake of taking my iphone to Apple’s dummybar at woodfield. They could not fix the phone and made it unrepairable! I took it to gadgetbar. These guys have the tools to look at circuit boards and truly diagnose issues.
So all Apple tried to fix my phone was replacing the battery, but because the «tech» was lazy she simply pried the battery off breaking some leads on the board. Gadgetbar could have fixed the phone if I brought it there first, but now the leads under the board are impossible to get at.

Wow, what a surprisingly good experience!
No one ever enjoys getting something fixed. It’s an annoying, unexpected expense and the process is usually a huge nightmare — calling in warranties, dealing with automated phone systems, getting the general sense that no one cares whether or not you get your computer back in time for that big presentation or not.
That was not the case at Gadget Bar! I dropped off my obnoxiously large, self-​built computer for them to take a look at. I was having issues with my graphics cards or something and wanted an outside opinion on how to address the issue. I left the computer and expected a response in a day or two.
I heard nothing for a whole week. My red flags went way up! Was the whole computer and phone repair business and elaborate hoax to run away with my multi-​thousand dollar computer system?!? I called ready to get my business voice on, but was reassured that they were working on it and dealing with custom systems takes time.
The next day I got a phonecall from the technician, Tyler, assuring me there was significant progress and my computer was just more messed up then either of us had anticipated. Over the next few days he gave me daily updates and asked for my approval before making potentially expensive mods to my case and hardware. The process was very painful, and as someone who knows a good deal about computers he absolutely was not taking advantage of me.
The whole process took about a week and a half. I picked up the computer and the total repair costs were MUCH lower than I expected, even when dealing with such custom hardware! I was impressed with the work and the professionalism! The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 was for the week with no contact, but they quickly changed their tune once they knew it was an issue for me!
Overall I had a very pleasant repair process with the homies at the bar, and will be bringing my stuff back if I’m ever unfortunate enough to have another computer problem I can’t fix on my own!

iPhone 5s screen cracked. Took it in without an appointment. Told me it would be done in an hour, took only 45 minutes. Under promise, over deliver. Really good guys running the business as well.
Side note: about a month after the screen replacement, the phone functions perfectly.

This place is great! I cracked my iPhone 5C and they fixed it perfectly within about two hours. The man at the counter was extremely nice and explained everything to me which was a nice touch. Competitive pricing as well, especially with the Unilocal deal. No complaints!
Happy that they are so close by in case anymore accidents occur!
