Kittatinny Campgrounds and Adventure Center

We had a group of about 40 people. We had made our reservation months in advance. We were placed on sites 116, 117 and 118 — the leech field for the septic. This place will do anything and put people anywhere in order to make money. We set up about 15 tents on Friday night to wake up the next morning to sewer smells instead of fresh mountain air. The septic had overflowed onto a few of the tents and personal items. When the child managers were asked why they would put is in that location, let alone make that area a campsite period, they replied with a sorry, we were aware of that happening, but were hoping it wouldn’t happen this weekend. Thinking they would fall all over themselves to try and make it up to us, they simply said they didn’t have any locations available for our group, but could put us in the field with the volleyball courts and they would not be refunding us any night of our stay. Fine. Our group will be going down the river on kayaks, canoes and rafts, how about crediting that activity for us to make up for this? Nope, sorry, not going to do that. Fine. How about a complimentary trip down the zip line for those in our group that would like to do it. Nope, sorry, oh well, we’ll allow the kids only. Whoop-​de-​do …
This was the worst customer experience I’ve ever seen. Too bad they possibly lost out on a group of 40 people every year at their facility.
As far as the rest of the campground accommodations… if you’re a large group of college kids looking for a place to party all night long and burn whatever you find in your fire ring, come on down. If you have no desire for clean facilities, but instead backed-​up toilets, foul smelling sulfur water to shower in, then this is your dream destination!

Worst site I have been to. The staff is rude. The security guy obviously wishes he was a cop. Lasted one night then went next door to cedar rapids. Cheaper and better. Don’t pay for the name brand!

I stayed on a Sunday night, and thankfully the place was empty. The campsites are right on top of eachother, maybe about the width of a 2 car driveway. When we arrived our campsite was covered in trash from previous campers and we had to ask someone to come clean it up. We stayed on the river… which was the only saving grace. It was 100% beautiful to watch the sunset and eagles soar. But again, we were the only people there. The real bathrooms at the main camp were disgusting and I found the port-​o-​potty to be more useable. The fire rings at the site were old and abused and had holes in them that let the fire escape and light the grass on fire.
We signed up to zipline and tube for the following day and woke up to thunderstorms. We were told there were no refunds. I was already bitter and angry about the crap show I had seen since I arrived prior and told the young lady I would just file a charge back on my credit card. It took doing a charge back for someone from the camp to actually contact me and finally agree that I was entitled a refund. They did offer me a free night of camping… which I will never use. I’m sad it took involving the credit card company to make them improve their customer service skills.
If you wanna get a bunch of underage friends and party all weekend and booze it up with no one calling the cops, this is the place to go. If you actually enjoy camping, go somewhere else.

My wife and some friends went here for a weekend, it was a nice experience overall. The staff was friendly and helpful, bathhouses were clean and the grounds were well maintained.
Some camp sites were right on top of each other, others had some decent privacy. We stayed at sight 516 and had a great time.

I wondered several times during my stay at Kittatinny campgrounds, if I died on the road coming here and I have reached hell.
The horrors began when we arrived at 9 pm on friday night and were told that we weren’t registered and they couldn’t find us in the system. After an hour of arguing and showing proof of payment, they admitted that they gave away our campground and that we can take several empty campgrounds that are available. (None of which can accommodate our 18 people group.) After finding a spot and settling down, it was nearly 1 am! Which is all for the best I guess because this is not a campground afte rall. It was a non stop party.
All the camp sites are really close to each other. I can high five the person next to us, if i wanted to. Everyone played salsa music or techno until the sun came up. 3 am: there was fire works. It is clear that we didn’t sleep at all. Have you ever heard salsa music for 36 hrs straight??? No? Pray to Zeus you never do!

You have kids that need sleep
You need sleep
You like nature
Peace is in your dictionary
You always liked salsa music (because you wont ever again!)
You do other things in the woods other than getting piss drunk
You like to get ripped off by overpriced campgrounds that do not give two sh** about you.

As far as camping goes, this place has a terrific location and does a great job of upkeep.
Have been here a number of times over the years, and we have our annual gathering in a set of sites right on the bank of a stream that feeds into the Delaware.
The campsites are neat and kept clean, they are prompt on emptying the garbage and the port-​a-​johns are also neat and clean. Each campsite get a garbage can, a fire ring and garbage bag.
Fully loaded spots with running water and electic hook-​ups are available for RVs and pop-​ups.
They offer indoor and outdoor showers and full restroom facilities a short walk from whevere your site is located.
The campgound store is fully stocked with mostly everything, including firewood. and stays open until 8pm
The facility also sponsors on-​site paint ball, zip-​line, and river rafting (canoes and kayaks too).
