Olde Mill Inn

We stayed at the Olde Mill Inn for a recent, local weekend getaway The premises were beautiful, our room was cozy, and the staff was impeccably attentive. However, our dinner at the Grainhouse was problematic. The restaurant ran out of the filet, which we were not told until about until after our order had been placed for some time. More importantly, a wedding reception was being held somewhere in the building, and our quiet, romantic dinner was turned into a table-​shaking, bass-​rattling event in which conversation was impossible. Not what I would have expected from this facility, especially at the premium paid. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the restaurant for these reasons. If you’re having your wedding here, I guess you’ll have a great time.

Can you fix the heat?
We stayed here for a wedding (for which we received a $ 5 discount on our room). The lobby is nice and the staff were initially very friendly.
When we got to our room, the first thing we noticed was the heat. It had to have been 90 degrees in the room. I immediately opened the balcony door and cut the heat off. The odd thing was that it was only set at 71. We managed to cool the room down to a livable temperature. Exploring the room we saw a large door under the TV which we assumed would contain a mini fridge. No such luck. Empty cavern. The TV reception was awful and the color was washed out of the picture.
After the wedding, it was back to the room. We set the heat on 60, as it was quite cool in the room at this point. The heat just kept coming. Apparently, although there is a digital thermostat, the heat is either «on» or «off». When the heat was on it would get hot… tundra hot. Turn the heat off and it’s «welcome to winter». I spent the night jumping out of bed, toggling it on and off as we either sweat or froze. We spent the morning under the blankets, which were quite scratchy and uncomfortable.
In the morning it was shower time. I hopped in and while I showered the water was slowly rising in the tub. It was above ankle height by the time I was done. The drain must have been clogged and was very slow. During the shower I observed long hairs on the shower wall. The problem is that I’m bald and my lady had not yet showered.
We were apparently the norm rather than the exception. At breakfast the next morning, everyone was talking about how uncomfortable their room was temperature wise. The breakfast buffet was decent. The bacon was actually tasty.
Upon checkout I informed the lady at the desk, whom we had not seen until that point, about the heat issue. She handed me my receipt and said «Here you go, thanks for telling us about the heat.». No «I’m sorry that you were up all night» or «here’s another $ 5 off your stay». Either would have helped, at least a bit.

Precioso hotel, me enamoró desde la recepción q tenía galletas y sidra caliente, q fue maravilloso en uno de los días más fríos de invierno. Hermoso y acogedor lobby con chimenea y área de librería, cuartos con decoración antigua en los q uno realmente quiere pasar un rato.
El cuarto bonito, limpio y con todas las comodidades. Maquina para hacer café con todo incluido. Desayuno incluido con barra caliente y fría. (Huevos, papas, salchichas, panes, cereal, café, jugos etc.)Todo muy rico. Se sirve hasta las 10:00 am. Muy cerca de farmacias, supermercados y restaurantes.
Se oyen voces de los pasillos en el cuarto, sería lo único negativo.

Stayed here about 5 years ago and booked it again for a quick trip.
I seen to remember the rooms as being larger or nicer. The bed was ok, and the desk manager was nice enough to move us to an upper floor so one was above us. They had some kind of meeting there and the hotel was quite busy. The noise of the in wall heater/​air conditioner kept us up, but outside of that it was ok for one night. Room was $ 140 with breakfast, so a pretty good deal.

A charming venue for a wedding! I was here for a wedding a couple of weeks ago. It was perfect for the occasion. The catering team and staff executed an amazing job from the décor to service, quality food and presentation.

My friend got married here so I spent two nights at the Inn, it’s very charming and cute. I think for the most part, it’s good value. I spent $ 155/​night, they charged an occupancy fee which was not brought to my attention upon check in & check out. I don’t think that was very good business on their end. Aside from that, I had a very lovely and comfortable stay.
My room was incredibly clean and had many nice extras (Keurig machine + pods, large flat screen tv, bathroom stocked with toiletries (loofah, toothpaste, body wash, etc). The bed was comfortable and factoring in there were two weddings that night, it was relatively quite.
Breakfast is OK, it’s not bad but nothing to swoon over. I think there should be gluten free bread options as well as non dairy milk options. But there were healthy and not healthy options so you can find something unless you’re a vegan lol.
The fitness center is manageable. It needs a bit of updating with cardio equipment. I felt like the treadmill I ran on was the world’s first treadmill but there is an elliptical, bike, 2 treadmills, mats, weights and medicine balls. I liked how there were towels and a water cooler, that was a lovely touch. It was a little hot, the temperature should be much cooler…
I did not eat at The Grain House but had a drink there, I loved the décor. It felt very rustic and cozy. My friend’s wedding was very beautiful, the space was lovely and Amanda the coordinator seemed to be amazing and just on it. I noticed she kept checking on the bride, bridal party and groomsmen, very attentive :)
Overall, it was a nice 2 day stay.

This is a review of the Thanksgiving buffet at The Olde Mill Inn. At $ 54 per person + 20% service surcharge the dinner was not a pleasant experience and management should be ashamed of themselves. 5 of us arrived promptly at our 4:30 seating. We had to wait close to an hour while we watched other parties of 5 arrive after us and get seated.
Once we were finally given a «table» we were shocked at what we were given. It was a plastic picnic table with a white tablecloth and cheap flimsy chairs. Unacceptable at this price. On top of that, our servers were terrible. This was definitely the Q team as you could tell the staff did not want to be there. Water and bread were not provided to us. We ordered drinks and our server left and returned to get the order again 3 times. Seriously??? This is why restaurants should NOT do away with tipping. No way these servers deserved a 20% tip. They knew they were getting paid so there was no need to work for it.
Food was okay, but service and table settings were horrible and did not justify the high price tag. Avoid.

I went to a wedding here a few weeks ago. The ceremony was outside and it was lovely. Interior is very pretty as well. The food was just average and was not outstanding. The cocktail hour had a carvery — turkey and beef– which was really delicious. I would give the venue 4 stars for ambience but only 3 for the food.

Charming inn I’ve stayed at for business. It has almost a bed and breakfast vibe and it looks like a popular wedding spot. Really solid breakfast.

My husband and I had our wedding reception here almost two years ago (I can’t believe it was that long ago!) and it was amazing. Our maitre d, John Lietz, was fantastic and totally on top of everything. The food was fantastic, and the whole place just has a wonderful, charming atmosphere. Everyone still talks about how great our wedding was, the afterparty at the Coppertop Pub was a ton of fun, and the guests who stayed the night loved that they were already at the hotel, and didn’t have to take a shuttle anywhere. A friend of ours is getting married here next year and we can’t wait!

My husband and I just got married there this past Friday 4÷24÷15. We worked with Mr. John Lietz (our maitre d). I honestly don’t have the words to adequately describe how incredible our wedding was. Right down to the minute detail.
John was amazing to work with. Easy going, down to earth and fun to work with. I am a bit of a control freak and have a very difficult time not worrying or organizing things and when I tell you that he kept me cool, calm, and relaxed and I never had to lift a finger or micromanage a THING, I would not be lying. Every time I needed him he would pop up like a magician and ask us what he could do for us. Just to give you an idea on the level of service — we had brought up a unity candle for our ceremony and during sometime while we transported it to our room, it broke. I hadn’t noticed. John went ahead and replaced it no questions asked. He thought of things that I didn’t even consider and covered it all. He never stopped moving and worked his butt off to coordinate with all our vendors. A true pleasure!
Our guests are raving days later on how delicious the food was! The olde mill inn is so elegant and classy and they are so accommodating. The bridal suite is ENORMOUS and easily accommodated my bridal party of 10 girls plus stylists.
The grounds make for beautiful photos and the courtyard is a lovely backdrop for your ceremony.
Their hotel staff (concierge, housekeeping) were so honest. They found a pair of expensive pearl earrings in one of our guests rooms and notified us right away.
You would be a FOOL not to book your affair with them. If I could give a 1,000 stars I would.

Had my best friend’s wedding shower here in the hunt room. Everything was perfect the room looked phenomenal, the food was great and the staff was extremely helpful. I would recommend this spot to anyone who is looking for a beautiful space to have a winter bridal shower

The Olde Mill Inn is just dripping with charm. The service is generally very good, with a few lapses in professionalism by one or two of the bar tenders. I rounded up from what would have been a 3.5 star review to 4, because they do try really hard and some of the dishes here are fantastic (the stuffed avocado salad with shrimp & crab falls well into that category). On the other hand the menu prices here are on the high side, even for this area. So your level of expectation goes up, and maybe you question if your entrée salad & a couple of beers was really worth $ 50?
The Olde Mill Inn used to have clearly marked gluten free options on their menu. They no longer do, and while the server was helpful in determining what I could safely eat, it is discouraging to see a restaurant take a step back like that.
Having said this, if you want a really cozy, romantic bar/​restaurant to dine with a friend, date, etc. this place will fit the bill nicely. The very realistic gas fireplace (looks just like wood burning) give a warm ambiance to the entire room. Just be prepared to pay up.

Such a charming place to stay; we were here for a wedding. The great thing was that the bathroom had a sink both in and outside-​ideal for a couple getting ready!
It was beautifully decorated for the holidays, with numerous christmas trees.
The room comes with a Keurig, iHome and wireless keyboard. Also, additionall access to the parking lot which is convenient. The staff were friendly, and they offer free shuttle rides to the train station which was helpful.
We received a discount for the room which came to around $ 150 for a king bed.
FYI there is no bar or any late night entertainment.

We had Thanksgiving Dinner at the Olde Mill Inn this year.
Oh gosh — we showed up an hour late for our reservation. They accommodated us and were so kind.
They have a few options for Thanksgiving dinner (with turkey of course being one of them) and a big dessert spread. Food was good — nothing to write home about, but good considering it was mass produced. The dessert spread was pretty done by the time we got there, but it was adequate.
We will probably return for brunch to see how the food is when ordering from the menu.
Again, very kind and down to earth people here. Definitely an older, laid back crowd. Good energy here. It would be a lovely place to stay while in town visiting.

I attended a wedding here. While to food was pretty good and the drinks were good, the service was lacking the setup was dirty. Staff were rather rude. They bumped into us frequently but never ever said excuse me. And when ordering my dinner, I tried to order a one of the 3 available appetizers since I could not have 2 of the choices. I was told that he only cared about what I wanted for dinner. Later when the appetizers arrived, I got one of the apps I could not eat. When I asked to change it for a salad they got annoyed telling me I should have said something sooner. I informed them I tried to do just that when ordering. I eventually got my salad.
I was later given the wrong dinner though they have me the right one a few minutes later. Thankfully I did not eat any of it yet.
That and the speaker for the wedding ceremony was blown out. It sounded aweful.
Overall not bad but not good. I hope the bride and groom are having a better time than I am. I would not get married here.

It is a very popular wedding destination as I came here for one of the best weddings I have ever been!

I’m definitely not their targeted demographic. As I reported to my two girls, this is a ‘chick hotel’. The loofa (sp) in the bathroom confirmed that.
I gather that this caters to the wedding crowd … and I’m guessing that they do a decent job. Great service. Nicely appointed common areas, and the rooms were old but also nicely appointed and in good shape. Not crazy over the top nice, but well put together and well maintained.
There are an abundance of little sitting areas with tables through out, and a nice courtyard [except maybe not for 0-​degree afternoons like right now]. No funky odors common to older places. Wide hallways. Complimentary breakfast. A decent, 24-​hr fitness room. And, quiet. Not just because there weren’t many kids, but looking down one hallway out the window, I could see through the winter trees to the ever-​present, steady stream of cars passing along 287, not more than 100 yds from the hotel, and nary a sound of the traffic. I’m sure that there were plows on the adjacent streets, and I didn’t hear a thing, there, either.
There are many stairs, but there is also an elevator for every level and ‘half level’.
Wifi was okay. Kept kicking me off. I had to call the front desk several times during my stay to restore access. My only real gripe.
I may not be back, but that isn’t their fault. I got my estrogen fill. Too bad it’s so close to my company’s office. But, this is a nice place, where I felt very comfortable. So, maybe I will be back.

Came here for a wedding this weekend and it was lovely! Nice rooms, comfy beds, and good food. They did a great job with the wedding, they seemed to be very experienced!

I’ve been coming here for many years with my parents and family. It’s a lovely old inn, with a huge, lit fireplace in the main dining area and a cozy, sunken, lower-​floor pub as well. The food is the best in the area. I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve eaten here. On our last visit, about a month ago, I got the Homemade Spinach Fettuccine. It was incredible! Homemade pasta with big chunks of lobster and sopressata in a light cream sauce. I hope this one is here to stay. The mix of the sweet seafood and the spicy, savory sausage was perfect.
Our one regret is that they stopped making their warm cinnamon-​raisin scones.
My husband and I also held our wedding reception here on a beautiful winter day. It was in the old part of the inn, on one of the lower floors, with a fireplace and a small wood dance floor. We chose it for the food and cozy ambiance and loved our experience.

Stopped by here for lunch at the Grain House restaurant — they’re further back from the hotel part of the property, so don’t get as confused as I was. Large parking lot here. Entering, you can see wooden ceiling beams — if you’re tall, that could be a problem as most of the lodge is relatively low-​ceilings. Two separate dining sections that I saw, and a bar space for those here for a drink and an appetizer.
With a menu that is more or less $ 6 – 12 for appetizers, and $ 11 – 17 for lunch sandwiches, it all comes down to what you want to try as opposed to price. There are specials — you have to look on the table, our waiter didn’t bother telling us. Their menu indicates local and organic sourcing, so that’s what justifies their prices — time to figure out what their taste is.
I chose a burger (comes with a choice of cheese, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, fries, a few onion rings, and a coleslaw salad — and you pay extra for anything else). It said 8 oz. which was a very decent ½ lb burger. Cooked medium well, with swiss and I had the sauteed mushrooms on top, it was a filling burger, but I didn’t really get any burst of flavor like at Shake Shack or Five Guys. Something was missing for me.
The service to refill water was swift, but the actual servers taking orders and checks, etc. were a bit slower, but perhaps that’s a mentality of this place rather than any particular knock on the servers.
I can see how people reserve this for weddings or parties, but it also feels like a country club aura and not a place the average person would go normally, it caters more to the business and older crowd from what I saw.
