I love shopping at the attached grocery store and love their breakfast service.(only time we drive by to indulge) As I have watched this restaurant being built, I was so excited to be in Bastrop during their business hours(I live about 40 miles away). When the time came, I stopped in for lunch. Disappointed is the best word to describe it. I thought, maybe I expected too much!(You know how when everyone tells you: «It’s the best movie I have ever seen!» and you think it sucks?) That is kind of how I felt about my experience. I was there on a Sunday around noon. They have a buffet which I did not get, I wanted an enchilada, taco rice and beans… they don’t have tacos! This is a mexican restaurant, right? I got beef enchiladas with rice and beans.(overpriced) The enchiladas were fair, the rice undercooked, and the beans cold. I guess if they were busy I would be more understanding… very disappointed. Service was ok, never got a refill on water, waited 8 minutes for our ticket to come. Will not be going back. :-(

This place is sad in so many ways its hard to know where to start. We went to dinner on a Tuesday night around 6:30 with a party of 8. The place was a ghost town with only three other tables occupied. The food took 30min for the first dish to come out with only 3 of our eight being served. After about 5 min 3 more arrived. The last 2 did not make it out of the kitchen for another 10min. This was made more frustrating because they were simple orders. Since when does it take 45 minutes to make a chicken quesadilla? Of the 8 meals 2 where missing key ingrediants. 1 was a salad which was supposed to have blue cheese and blue cheese dressing and did not have either. When we asked where they were, we were told«we are out of them.» They were aware of this but didn’t bother to share that little detail. Most of the food was over cooked(burnt). The shrimp chimichanga was hard as a rock. The shrimp po-boy was missing the the sauce. It took the staff 2 trips to get it right. In short, bad food, slow service and ugly décor. Still looks like the chinese buffet it used to be. Do yourself a favor, go anywhere else including Taco Bell for Mexican and for cajun go downtown to La Rouix. The two together do not work here.

A Mexican/Cajun restaurant? What really? Well yes Las Haciendas is just that. I didnt try their Cajun dishes since I was in the mood for some carnitas and boy are they good. The rice and beans were uour typical tex mex rice and beans. One thing that sets is place apart from other restaurants is the warm salsa that they serve. While I am not a fan of it, I must say it is different and worth a try.
