WCU Services

WCU was given to me by Old Republic Home Protection, so I did not chose them. My experience with ORHP wasn’t great, but WCU was fantastic.
They gave me a call the same day I submitted a request for service, which was on a Holiday. They gave me times that day and the next they could come out and check out my AC issues. Were incredibly friendly and helpful, and ended up replacing my outside AC unit and coil on inside unit.
I had a question about status (there was a delay in replacing my unit due to a mistake by ORHP), and when I called WCU to check they were very understanding, told me they’d call me right back, did the due diligence to find out what the issue was, and called me back within 15 minutes. This level of attentiveness was truly appreciated!
Keegan at WCU was the person who did the initial inspection and replacement of the unit. He called me a couple times to update me on status, confirm times with me, and was very friendly through all interactions. New AC seems to be working great!
I definitely recommend them, and trust them for a future need!

We hired WCU through a personal recommendation for work on our AC units, and they were professional, informative and efficient. Keegan did a great job, charged us a fair price and WCU actually saved us money by extending the life of our units through their correct diagnosis and their ingenuity. Plus, Keegan’s a really smart and nice guy. Based on above, when we got AHS, we were really happy to see that WCU is one of their vendors. I request WCU every time — they have also fixed our dryer and our microwave. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I would not judge these guys by their affiliation with American Home Shield. If you have AHS, I would insist on these guys rather than A-​US, who is dishonest bordering on criminal.
AHS wouldn’t allow me to use them even for a second opinion so I had them out on my own and they accurately diagnosed the problem confirmed by two other reputable contractors. I didn’t end up using them but I did hire them to do a smaller job at my mother’s house and they did a good job.
The ladies in the office were helpful in communicating with me and attempting to help me get a fair diagnosis and reimbursement from AHS which ultimately failed but it wasn’t for their lack of trying, even contacting the area representative on my behalf.
On the downside, they don’t do commercial work on rooftop units.

I didn’t have much of a choice. They were sent by American Home Shield. The gentleman was nice, but looked at my washer and said «they didn’t work on stacked washer /​dryers» and left. The dryer is so light, I could have lifted it off the top by myself. Heck I would have removed it for him. It was an inconvenience to be at home on a Monday & it really screwed up my day. Now after waiting three days for those guys, we have wait for someone else.

I have had AHS for about 5 years now and have had my ups and downs with them. In my experience I have to say that you just don’t find customer service like WCU anymore. I called about an issue with my dishwasher. The WCU office called me the same day, said they’d have the technician call me by the end of the day which he did. Keegan called and we set an appointment, he said he’d call me the day before to confirm. Guess what, he did! He came by, on time, looked at my issue and determined it needed a new board. He placed the order and said he’d be back out as soon as he got it. He called and left me a vm on a Sunday to tell me it was in. I was busy with church and did not return his call and he called me Monday morning again to say that the part was in. I told him I could not make the appt time because of previous commitments. Keegan said he’d call on the day before to confirm a different appt and guess what. He did! I know this may seem small but this day and age, I’ve had plenty of people say they are going to call or going to follow up, or just plain NOT do what they said they are going to do. Keegan did EVERYTHING he said he was going to do. I went as far as to tell him I appreciated this old school way of customer service, which is HARD TO FIND these days. He came by, as agreed, exactly on time and installed the part efficiently. Keegan was extremely professional and polite. I just can’t say enough about how much I appreciated this old way of SOLID customer service. This definitely stands out in my book at the 5 STARS is VERY, VERY much deserved. I went as far as to call AHS and ask them to please keep using WCU as I’ve experienced my share of duds for service calls from them. I’m old school and you just don’t find this level of service any more. Thank you.

While they seem to do well in the Bastrop area I cannot recommend them if they are chosen by American Home Shield. Replaced a display panel in my refrigerator that immediately did not work, tech suggested it had to «adapt», no it did not, it was put in wrong. Sears was given the contract and immediately saw the problem.

Do not use! These guys are rude and treat you like garbage. They were sent to me by American Home Shield, I did not chose them. The technician came to the house before the appointment time, which I thought would be a good indication, boy was I wrong. They seemed in a hurry and not happy that I was in the same room looking at what they were doing. They were there to fix an ice maker and dispenser as well as a broken dishwasher handle. The took everything out of the freezer that was in their way, that was expected. They however left a mess on the counters and did not place the items back into the freezer. The technician seemed in a hurry, and when the job was «done» he left in as much of a hurry. They did not fix the issue, the ice maker was acting the same as before they arrived. When I called to let the technician know, he said he would not be coming back, that AHS does not pay them to do so. He said I needed to call AHS. When I did call AHS they let me know that the company would be paid for as many times as they needed to come out. AHS created a recall ticket for them to come back out. When I called the company back to verify they had received the recall ticket I was greeted on the phone by a nice lady, however she put me on hold and before I know it I was being yelled at by a gentleman, using the word loosely. He said they were not coming out and would not come back out until the dishwasher parts were available, which could be 5 – 8 days. I asked why, if they had not fixed the issue with the ice maker He reiterated that AHS does not pay them to do so. I let him know that the recall ticket was in place and that AHS had let me know they would get paid… after a moment of silence he said he refused to send the technicians back out. Needless to say I requested a different company from AHS, who agreed immediately to transfer the contract.
THESE GUYS ARE TERRIBLE AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE IS! STAY AWAY.

WCU services is as good as it gets. Based in my town of Bastrop. They first saved us when during a hot summer day the AC compressor failed. We have American Home Shield who promptly dispatched our call to WCU. This was late on a Friday afternoon and they would not be able to get there until Monday. We were cooling with a portable unit and wall unit so we were okay. First thing Monday morning Ron Pettit, the owner came over and assessed the unit indeed needed a compressor. Being we have a Carrier Infinity two speed unit in five ton, he said the compressor might be hard to get but he would call me. Later that day he said he found one that would be brought in and he would be able to fix it Thursday. Tuesday early evening he called and had gone and picked up the compressor and would be over first thing Wednesday. Bingo, he was there at 8.00 and by 10.00 we were up and running a day early.
Then recently my Amana wall oven quit heating properly. Another call to AHS and another assignment to WCU. This time Keegan, the owners son came out. Assessed it had a bad board and proceeded to AHS for parts. The part was not available and would have to be sent off for repair. Three weeks. WHAT? No oven for three weeks?! So I get on line myself. Yes indeed the display board is not made anymore but usually the issue is a relay board. Called Keegan, he poked around online and decided to order that and lets try it. Bingo, another happy repair!
Now this week they were out again. The Carrier Infinity seems to be loosing refrigerant. Ron came back out, found the Evap coil in the attic leaking and discovered it was installed incorrectly and was rusted out. He was able to get all but 275.00 covered through AHS, now unit running great and a beautiful installation.
Short of this long story, every time they were dispatched, they arrived on time or early, were very professional and knowledgeable and did all they could to fix the issue quickly. I have dealt with a ton of contractors over the years and WCU rates among the best. Small family owned business that is not well known but has been in business since 1986.

The staff is so knowledgeable, kind and helpful. Your customer service is great! Keep up the great work, Austin needs reputable companies like your’s!

A contractor for American Home Sheild, — the service tech had a bad attitude when I asked him to be careful not to scratch a door — did not TEST the machine he supposedly repaired before leaving which subsequently now requires a 3^rd visit and a week without a washer SO FAR — did not return when I called within minutes to finish the job — and the office woman hung up when I insisted on the technician’s return — finally, refused to complete the service they began requiring a new contractor to come out. NOTE: I shared this pending review with them in the hope that they would make it right and they elected not to do that, so now I am posting my experience.

WCU is great. They have flexible scheduling, are professional and on-​time, and full of helpful advice.
Keegan has come to my home several times now, to fix my A/​C and to bring my stove back to life. He even worked on my A/​C (which is outside) in the pouring rain, despite my offer to reschedule!

We get whomever the home warranty company sends, so I was a little apprehensive about how our A/​C repair would go today. The last outfit that the home warranty company had referred us to had terrible reviews on Unilocal,and we actually cancelled rather than have them come out. But the A/​C was now not working at all, and we HAD to deal with it. So WCU Services was assigned to our call.
First, they called within less than half an hour to set an appointment time. Initially, the lady told me they were scheduling for Monday (today is Friday), and I kind of groaned. She asked me if she could check their schedule and give me a call right back. Sure, no problem. So, within 5 minutes, she called me back and set an appointment for today, between 11 and 5. Fortunately, I was available all day today, so I took it.
Well, I hardly needed to worry. Brandon called me back at 10:45 to let me know he was on his way. He was courteous and efficient and got right to the task. He hopped out there and not only diagnosed and replaced the defective contactor, but trimmed up the overenthusiastic brush around the outside unit. Bing bang boom. He was finished in less than half an hour. And sure enough, the A/​C is on and cold!
I’m thinking of nominating Brandon and the folks at WCU Services for sainthood or knighthood or whatever ‘hood will get them some good perks, because I don’t think there is any calling higher than that of A/​C repair during a Texas summer. These folks just could not have been any more awesome, period. They had the job done within just a couple of hours of my call, which I would not have dared to hope for in my wildest dreams. Our A/​C unit is already beyond its expected lifespan, so I know it will need attention in the future. I will be sure to request WCU Services when I call the home warranty people again, and I would gladly pay out of pocket for service this outstanding. What a gift and a pleasure to do business with a company like this one!

I had a similar experience with WCU as Hello H. and Joshua G. WCU was sent out by contract from American Home Shield to repair my furnace. They had to come out three times before it was fixed, not because it was a difficult problem to fix, because the technician never listened to my complaint. Instead he comes out, shuts off the furnace by the main switch located in the attic, turns it back on, and once he hears the furnace kick on he thinks all is fixed. So he leaves.
I told him the furnace comes on, that is not the problem. The problem is that the furnace does not match the set thermostat temperature. The furnace shuts off long before it will match the temperature set by the thermostat. So this goes on another 2 times, finally i am home when he arrives and i make sure he doesnt leave until i am satisfied. The furnace finally is fixed, but now i have another problem. The technician scratched the door to my new dryer when he was accessing the stairs to the attic.
Does WCU take responsibility for damaging my property? NO. They send out another technician to evaluate the damage, and he concludes they do not need to take responsibility and that i could take them to court if i wanted. That is how they handle complaints. How are they still in business? I will never us American Home Shield again, and i will never voluntarily call on WCU ever again.

I used this company for a household appliance repair. They were fast, pleasant, on-​time, correctly fixed the problem, and were resonably priced. I will call them again.

I also had WCU sent out by contract from American Homeshield. I had a leaking indoor AC ceiling unit. The technician, Mr. Petit I recall, came and pecked around, blew some air into a drain pipe. He seemed in a hurry. A day later the leak was worse. Homesheild sent him out again three days later. He said the problem was a dirty filter. The next day my bathroom ceiling was sagging from water damage: niagra. I demanded a new technician from Homeshield. Within 20 minutes the new plumber found two causes. By blowing nitrogen/​air into the drain pipe, WCU just pushed the clog further down the line. One had to open up both ends!
I now have $ 1,000 in water damage. I asked Mr. Petit to help with the repairs. He refused, rudely, and without apology. «Preexisting problem,» he said. I’m looking into taking him to small claims court for negligence.

Exceptional. I have a home warranty through American Home Shield. A/​C has been acting up and now that it’s 100 degrees every day this is a source of a bit of anxiety. We requested service through our home warranty and the first A/​C service provider was extremely unaccommodating to our schedules and suggested we cancel and rebook. I am glad we did because our service request was referred to WCU instead.
They called in less than four hours to confirm our request. They called again Friday afternoon to confirm the time they would be coming on Saturday. They were here on the early side of their two hour window. They were done in less than 30 minutes. Keegan was fast, friendly and informative. He not only explained to me what was done to fix our minor problem, he provided some routine maintenance suggestions. I am kind of at the mercy of our home warranty company and who they assign to any specific service request but if you need to come out of pocket I would recommend calling WCU directly. This father and son, family owned business services the entire greater Austin area.
