This was my first visit to the Batavia Pier1. A greeting upon entering the store as well as a friendly farewell. I do not remember the employees name, but she was super helpful and informative, making us feel good about our purchase.

While I recognize Pier 1 is a chain, I’d actually never been inside one prior to recently heading to this location with my momma post-holidays to score some discounted Christmas swag. We lucked out — the day after Christmas at Target, you can get like three brown stockings and a half empty box of tinsel with teeth marks on it. HERE, they had lots of great stuff half price — adorable wall hangings, ornaments, and general cheerful décor. I even got some soap dispensers and towels for the bathroom. A quick swing around the rest of the store revealed a whole slew of things my apartment isn’t nice enough for, and still other things I would adore for a week, then forget to dust. But maybe if I was looking for a really great table decoration or a housewarming gift for someone whose tastes I knew quite well, I’d come here. I did notice they had fantastic furniture — all very modern and attractive stuff — remember back in the day when Pier 1 was just that place where you could buy those«papasan chairs?!» Well, they still have those, but also other functional and cute items, too. The staff was bubbly and helpful, parking was easy and convenient, and the store was bright, large, and clean — even despite us Christmas vultures picking over the wares. If they had more practical items, I’d likely rate them even higher, but either way, they’re a perfectly adequate little-bit-of-everything kinda store.
