Randall 15 IMAX Theater

The movie watching experience was fine — the staff, not so much. I took a friend to see the movie 10 Cloverfield Lane on Sunday night; a movie for which we were both excited. I intentionally didn’t ready any reviews of the film so that I would be going into it with an open mind. The trailer looked great and I was ready to see the thriller. When we were buying the movie tickets the cashier looked at us and said «have you seen Deadpool yet?» my friend replied «no we haven’t». The cashier proceeded to say something along the lines of «I saw 10 Cloverfield Lane — it was not good. It really sucked. Why don’t you see Deadpool instead?»
At first we thought she was joking, but we quickly realized she wasn’t. We went ahead and saw the movie we had originally planned on (and really liked it) — but the whole time we were both sitting there waiting for it to «suck», looking for flaws, etc.
Even though this might seems like something a movie theater employee should do, many people go to see a movie with an open mind and like to make their own opinion of the movie. A movie theater cashier is not a film critic and I don’t believe she should put down movies she feels fit to random customers. Furthermore, the movie got a very high score on IMDB (not that it matters for this situation anyway). And film preference is subjective anyway — some people think a masterpiece is crap, while others think a crappy movie is a masterpiece. It’s a different story if we had asked her what she thought of the film, but randomly telling movie-​goers that the movie they are about to see sucks is not cool.

Great staff, sound, imax! It was very clean for how busy they were and for a popular movie. Lots of parking. We didn’t get any food so I cannot comment about concessions.
Just a fyi the seats aren’t meant for shorter people.

Great movie theater. Good customer service and decent food. This is my typical go to place to watch movies because it is so close. I do think everything is slightly over priced when compared to other movie theaters nearby but despite that I keep going so I guess it hasn’t stopped me yet. Clean, safe, and friendly.

I’d give this place 5 stars, but concessions need a little help, which obviously matters in a theater!

The dreamlounger chairs are the ONLY way to fly I say. Why do any theaters have the crappy, creaky seats?
When we saw Star Wars here, hub and I agreed… Sound was on point. Crazy great acoustics! ;)
But, gotta mention… The last show we saw, there was a patron with .get this. BLUE glitter cowboy boots… (A male, not a hot young blonde) full out sparkling… WITH spurs. Can you visualize? Google that crap… Cuz yea, rather interesting. Made my night for sure, I felt like I was in Vegas. Ride ‘em. Cowbouyyyy.
However, you need to buy seats in advance… All reserved seating here. OH, and… Drum roll… TUESDAYS 5 $ movies ALLLL DAMN DAY/​NIGHT. Hell yea. Your bonus… too may be glitter boot boy. ;).

Just saw the new Star Wars at the Randall 15 IMAX last night and it was awesome! This was the first time i have been to this theatre and it was pretty good. We were able to preorder the tickets online and then just pick them up at the kiosks at the front of the theatre quickly! Once we got our tickets we got in line for popcorn and a drink — plenty of people working so the wait time was minimal — great! I also love the fact that you can refill your drinks at any time with a large drink kiosk on the opposite side of the order counter. The theatre where we watched the movie was clean, and we were greeted with 3-​D glasses as we walked through the doors. Great experience, I would definitely come back.

We paid extra to purchase our tickets online… But then you have to wait in the regular ticket line to receive your 3D glasses! Just irritating that we went out of our way and paid extra to avoid what the theater failed on. There should have been some one at the council handing them out or at the door to the theater.

Matt is a great manager and all the kids who work there are great. Ann is a great asset to the theater. So fun to have Fathom Events ballets, etc!

Great seats and they offer FREE soda refills and $.50 refill on my pop corn. Great place!

I have always found Randall 15 to be clean and comfortable. I can’t say that I’ve ever waited longer than 5 minutes in the concession line and theirs is my favorite theater popcorn. Fresh, crunchy, and with the perfect amount of salty butter. They have free drink refills and 50¢ popcorn refills, regardless of size. Pretty cool!
Unlike another reviewer, I love the fact that they have reserved seating (as a note, the reserved seating, as of this writing, is only for shows in the IMAX theater). Before the reserved seating, a popular show might have various members of my family seated apart and all over the theater. Not any longer. I can pick my seats ahead of time and be assured they’ll be waiting for me when I get there. More time to peruse the snack counter!

I live in geneva. Have been going to this theatre for years. After going to Yorktown Amc in Lombard it is so very clear to me that the Randall needs updating badly. It’s dirty. Looks outdated. Smells odd and you can hear sounds from next theatre on both sides. I will not be going to this theatre again until if gets a much needed remodel.

This theater’s bathrooms are disgusting. I’ve been in multiple times now and nothing ever changes. The Men’s bathroom is always filthy and my girlfriend says the same thing about the Women’s bathroom.

I will never go to this theater again bc of their new policy on reserved seats! I had no idea this was happening & had I known in advance, I wouldn’t have gone to this theater & wasted money to be uncomfortable all night. Most annoying, stupid experience of my life. I can’t believe people are okay with reserving a seat. You are already paying money for a ticket to watch a movie, we always get there early & pick our seat in the middle and it depends on who walks in. If someone annoying & loud sits next to us, we move. If they start texting, we move again. If your seat is reserved, you have NO IDEA who you will be sitting next to & you also don’t have option of moving in case someone rude sits near you!
So here’s what happened to me. Went to see Avengers tonight, Sunday @ 9:30pm with my husband. We never get to go out because of the kids so this was suppose to be a treat. Didn’t think it would be busy on a Sunday night but there was a long line to buy tickets so we used the self-​help. We sat down at 9:15 & were the only ones in the IMAX theater which is huge. A couple walks in & comes over to say we are in their seats. She explains that she reserved her seats. We argue for a while, I tell her I didn’t get the option to reserve a seat & I offer to move, even though we arrived first & she should just pick another seat since there’s a million open. So we move but now I’m in a bad mood. A few minutes later, another couple comes in & sits directly behind us. Then another couple sits two seats to my right & talked thru the entire show.
My husband spoke to the manager to complain & was told «all theaters are doing reserved seating». First of all, terrible job on defusing the situation. Everyone’s doing it so we have no right to complain?!? If that’s the case, I’ll wait for movies to come out on DVD/​PS4/​Directv on Demand. Secondly, the popcorn tasted like crap & the theater was filthy so we will never ever go to this crappy theater again. Never ever!!!

I like this theater. It is not our regular as it is a drive, however the seats are extremely comfortable, the layout is very well done inside the viewing areas.
The entry way seems to be set up to reduce long lines and staff is very courteous and seem to be well trained.
Everyone complains about the cost on concessions, and this place is no different. This is where they make their money and they are in line with other theaters.
The only issue I have is that their rewards system seems to be confusing and difficult to track,. I will concede that may be because I am used to my regular theater, but I have tried and to be honest, have just given up on it. I also did not see if they had a «bucket» type program for regulars, however I may have just missed it.
When in the area, this will be our theater of choice.

I left my wallet after seeing the last Hobbit movie on 12/​26/​2014. I didn’t realize ’til 4 hours later, and I then placed a call in to the theater. I got the manager on for the night shift; Anne K. She took my info and said she would personally search for my wallet once the movie let out. She stuck to her word and found my wallet over 7 hours after I originally left. I think this says something about the type of crowd this theater draws, as well as the A+ management. Truly couldn’t have been handled any better. 5 stars

This is by far my favorite movie theater in the area– friendly staff, lots of theaters and showtimes, and good popcorn. The theater is equipped with a couple of DBox movie theaters (where you have special sound and moving chairs), but I’ve never tried that out. I also love the I Max screen– it is very pricey to go– but worth it for a special treat. The I Max theater has a huge seating capacity which is great.
The biggest tip you need for this movie theater is that you must join the frequent moviegoer program. It is free to join and there are several benefits. The first is that you get a point for each ticket you buy (you can hook it to an e-​mail account as well for tickets purchased online), and you can use the points towards food purchases. The second perk is that each week there are movies (usually those who have been out a bit longer) that are labeled as Frequent Moviegoer Movies and they are reduced price (usually similar to matinée prices).
My only complaints with this theater are the same I have with almost all theaters– the snacks are very expensive, the 3-​D and I Max movies are expensive, and the bathrooms could be a bit cleaner (though not terrible). However, it is still the best theater in the area– so I will return for sure!
