History
Established in 1979.
In 2001, Dr. Susan Jong opened Advanced Eye Center’s second location in Lafayette, LA to provide vision therapy to the Lafayette area.
In 2003, our Baton Rouge location added Sensory Learning Therapy for patients with autism, ADD/ADHD, and traumatic or acquired brain inuries.
In 2004, we added Photo-therapy (Syntonics) to enhance our vision therapy program in Baton Rouge and Lafayette. We were the first clinic in Louisiana to use this unique form of therapy.
In 2008, we became the first clinic licensed in Louisiana (5th in the nation) to use the proprietary Gentle Molding lenses (non-surgical technique to reduce the need for glasses/contact lenses).
In 2010, Dr. Susan Jong completed the requirements to become a Fellow in Vision Development, making us the only vision therapy clinic in Louisiana run by a board certified practitioner.
In 2011, we added MPOD (Macular Pigment Ocular Density) testing to identify patients at risk for developing macular degeneration.

Business Owner
After graduating from Southern College of Optometry (Memphis, TN) in 1979, Dr. Jong opened her practice in the Baton Rouge area. For more than 30 years, she has been dedicated to providing her patients with the highest quality vision care by using cutting edge technology for Eye Care and Eye Health.
Dr. Jong specializes in Vision Therapy and Orthokeratology (non-surgical technique to reduce the need for glasses/contact lenses). In 2010, she became a Fellow in Vision Development, making Advanced Eye Center the only vision therapy clinic in Louisiana run by a board certified practitioner. She also became a certified ChromaGen practioner in 2011. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, College of Optometrists in Vision Development, and Optometry Association of Louisiana.
In her free time, Dr. Jong enjoys spending time with her husband, David, and four children. She is an avid LSU fan and loves to watch her tigers play!
