Belle Of Baton Rouge

A very pleasant place to stay. I only gave it four stars, and would have given it five stars, if it had had a coffee machine and or a microwave in the room. What are you talking about OK there was a coffee machine in the room. There was a free breakfast, which was quite good. The place was very clean, and the service was friendly. My cousin lost her free breakfast coupon, and they gladly replaced it.

Not a bad hotel but not great. We got an unbelievably cheap rate so I’m happy. The lobby and casino areas are relatively nice. The room is decent: good size and smoke free. The bathroom is very small and dated. The hotel is in a great location. The River Center and USS Kidd are across the street. You can walk to local attractions such as the State Capitol. The hotel does need a major renovation.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Belle.
Our room was spacious and clean. We enjoyed wonderful live music at the lounge (no cover charge), and their free breakfast was great.
Most of all, we were impressed with their hospitality and service. Wonderful experience!

This was probably the worst experience of my life. My boyfriend and I came to stay the night at the Belle of Baton Rouge because my friend could not accommodate us in her apartment, and I thoroughly regret this decision. Here’s why:
1. Check-​in took about 20 minutes. I have no idea why. I have never experienced such a long check-​in. But my boyfriend and I shrugged it off.
2. The halls SMELL LIKE SMOKE. After reading the other reviews, the smoke smell has been a problem that the Belle management has NEGLECTED to solve and will probably NEVER solve.
3. Shower floors are hazardously slippery.
4. RUDE STAFF. We were told after checking in that breakfast would be held by the bar area. No one informed us about breakfast vouchers that you need turn in. The breakfast «supervisor» looked at us with folded arms and asked if we had the vouchers as if we had no permission to be there. She was VERY rude. Luckily my boyfriend had the packet with the vouchers and room keys with him. We handed her the vouchers and she rolled her eyes asking us, rather, offensively told us «make sure to keep the area clean» as if we were children. We noticed during our whole breakfast experience that she was very polite and accommodating to the older guests and never said a word to us or even glanced at us. Once we finished and made our way out of breakfast, my boyfriend noticed the tap on the water dispenser (next to the juices) was leaking. He fixed it and ran some of the water out to make sure it was fixed. The supervisor snapped at us and chastised us for being destructive and disrespectful WHEN IN FACT we were merely trying to help her. It was not until after my boyfriend angrily explained that he was only helping the her that she laughed and said «oh hahaha I thought you were running all the water out».
We have stayed in many nicer hotels, and we have never been treated any less than any other paying customer. This experience was completely unpleasant. I would not recommend this hotel. At. All.

This is a review of the casino part of this hotel, as I did not stay in the hotel and only visited the casino. The casino itself just has «CASINO» in big green letters on a building that is not next to the Belle hotel, but is connected through what seems to be a half mile of squirrelly walkways and staircases. Once you get to the casino, you are hit in the face with the stale smell of cigarette smoke. It is a dark and shabby looking casino, one of those places that leave the lights on real low to hide the sticky underbelly and grunge and frayed worn carpets. The beers are $ 4 for a Bud Light, kind of pricy for a casino. No draft beer available. The slots are fairly tight but some machines managed to give me back enough to play for a little while. I didn’t win and I didn’t really see anyone else winning much of anything. The crowd is kind of street thug, but I was at the casino late at night during the week so the crowd may vary. The presence of security is very noticeable, so I felt relatively safe in the casino, but walking back through the rat maze to exit the building was another story.
This is a Tropicana casino, apparently, but that isn’t evident until you apply for the Player card. If I was Trop, I wouldn’t be putting my label on this place, either. It is just a run down and sad place and you will leave smelling like an ashtray whether you smoke or not. I won’t be visiting this casino again. It just isn’t a very pleasant environment to get your gamble on, and there are other options in Baton Rouge so I’d check out something else and pass this one by.

Smelly. Run down furniture in the rooms. Horrible beds and bedding. Bad service. Apathetic staff. Stayed while on a business trip and will not be returning.

I stayed here all week for work Monday-​Sunday. It’s a great location downtown which is close to LSU and many other things. The staff were all friendly and helpful. (Even when I lost my room key 2 times in 2 days.) For the money I don’t feel there is a better deal on downtown rooms in Baton Rouge. I felt our room was cleaned up to standard daily. We didn’t have a «modern» TV in our room but I’m sure that’s a priority during their renovation. I would definitely stay here again. 5 stars

This should be a two star hotel at best no way should it hold a 3.5 star rating. Grungy and extremely small bathroom and the room smells like it was smoked in heavily for the last twenty years and then a pine tree air freshener hung in the corner. The bed is horrible and the sheets feel cheap and wore out. Completely outdated. If you enjoy the feel of staying in a shady motel 6 then this is the place for you. Otherwise stay anywhere else.
Day two come back to room in a big hurry. Door lock won’t work. Go back to front desk where they re-​key but say it’s likely the lock has a dead battery. Wait 20 minutes for maintenance to come up and try and open the door. He can’t and is now going down to get me another room. Luckily I was hoping for an excuse to find a different hotel and all my stuff isn’t locked in the room.

I really like the architecture of the building but that’s the only thing I liked. Small pool area. Room seemed okay and clean. I honestly expected more from the hotel considering the price… $ 20 more down the street will get you a better experience. The hotel had a lot of empty open space downstairs. Some guests of the hotel seemed rude. One guest was walking around in house shoes/​slippers, another was having an obnoxious loud cursing conversation on the elevator that clearly should’ve been held in private, trash was left in the corner of the elevator and young kids wandering around with no adult supervision. I know the hotel has no control over who their guests are but really… Restaurant connected to hotel was not much better.

Downtown Hotel was very pretty. Loved the location, very close to restaurants and bars but most were closed because it was Sunday.
Not happy that the casino closed early. Would have enjoyed losing a little more of my money. I thought that should have been told to me when I made the reservation. Maybe that was the reason I got such a good price. The room was nice and beds comfortable but the hairdryer was broke and no coffee maker.
Did have a fridge and microwave.
It was an ok hotel but probably will not stay here again.

It’s one of those inconsistent kind of places. There’s no real «high» marks to be made here, because the rooms are ok — some are clean, some are not, some smell terrible, some smell really good. It’s the same with the staff — The front desk staff are friendly, but the security guards are oblivious (Their parking lot on the side of the hotel was full so I went to the one in the back and you need a code to get in, I was checking in so I didn’t know it and when I called the phone number I asked security what to do — and they had NO idea what to do and his only excuse was «I just started working here, so you have to walk around the building» note it was raining and later I found out their office for security was behind the front desk– LAZY), and the maids are inconsistent in when they clean and where they clean. The other things: Food — don’t eat here unless you have to, gamble — don’t gamble here unless it’s the weekdays, Hang out? Not really. I’ve had a number of people walk by me outside and ask for cigarettes, money, or food.
The one staff member that stands out is Brie at the front desk, walked into room 807 and it smelled like a sweaty swamp, went back down and Brie changed it right away and she’s very sweet and nice.
Other that it was a really nice place to watch fireworks at during the 4^th of July because as long as you’re on the river side, you could see the fireworks better than anywhere else along the water.

Stayed here at the hotel while on a business trip to Baton Rouge. I found the room to be very pleasant and clean with a great view. They offer a breakfast in the morning in the atrium and is centrally located downtown. If you have a bike this is the perfect hotel to stay for LSU games as you can ride up to the campus via the bike lanes along the Mississippi River behind the hotel that takes you right to LSU. The also offer free protected parking, nothing not to like here.

GHETTTTOOOOOO!!! I seriously like being around people of color, I am more comfortable and i always seem to fit in better than being around stuffy white folks.
I like the low table minimums and the dealers were nice, but it was dirty, dingy, and packed.
I actually had another player say to the dealers face, «why you gotta keep letting the white man win?» Why can’t you take care of your own? NO BS! Out loud to everyone at the table. This place attracts the lowest denominator in the city. I just bailed and went to New Orleans. Dueces BELLE!

My stay here at Belle was not so bad. Everything in the room was great, but the tv. Everybody who worked there were so nice and friendly. It’s very kid friendly and always had something going on.
The only down fall I DIDNT like was the convention and having to walk all around the hotel to get to my car. The people who worked for that convention were so ugly and rude. But over all I really enjoyed my stay at Belle Hotel.

Hotel/​casino review: staff courteous.
Room decent /​nothing broken Cleanliness very poor. Fridge had left over food from previous guest. Lots of remaining hair in tub from previous guest. Noise: quiet !
Casino: prepare for a looong walk! If your staying at the hotel. Staff: obliging. Cleanliness: poor Noise: LOUD a lot of people shoved in a small area and VERY poor ventilation. And my guess are the slots are very manipulated by staff behind the scenes.

This review is for the Hotel, as I didn’t spend time in the Casino.
This place is the dumps. While most of the staff was friendly… the Hotel itself is just terrible and inconvenient.
1. Rooms are ok at best.
2. NOTHING is open! How do you have a hotel and not have restaurants open more then a few hours a day on certain days! The only place to get food are their vending machines that only take $ 1 bills or their terrible concession stand in the Casino.
3. Make sure you lock EVERY lock on your door. While the housekeeping staff was friendly, twice they attempted to come into my room and were only stopped by the latch. They literally knocked, said housekeeping and IMMEDIATELY attempted to come in even with a Do Not Disturb sign.
4. Housekeeping is soooo loud in the morning! They were banging things and talking loudly. Every morning I woke up to their noise and wasn’t able to get back to sleep.
If this wasn’t a business trip I would have left and gone somewhere else.

First of all, when you walk in to the (admittedly huge and potentially gorgeous lobby), there’s a funny smell. Like sheets of plastic.
As I walked through the hotel, everything else is run-​down. The style is out of date. Little things don’t work like they should, lots of details aren’t looked after. If that were the worst, though it’d be fine. But it’s not.
One morning I found a cockroach at the breakfast buffet. I pointed it out to a supervisor, and he killed it, and that was it. I didn’t see them cleaning the buffet or replacing the food. They went back to a their chat.
I know someone who stayed here who noticed a musty smell in their room and got ill.
I’ve found in general their staff, while nice, are not very good. They’re largely indifferent to what makes good service and while most of them try, they fall short. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Let me preface by saying that I travel A LOT.
I’m staying for 4 nights and was worried with all the bad reviews. It seems to me the management may have listened to some of them as I am not seeing many of the issues described.
Overall– I arrived late at night and was treated by name. The front desk staff wasn’t Disneyland happy but they were amiable and courteous. The parking is well lit and convenient enough.
The room is comfortable with nice furniture (nothing broken or falling apart as has been stated). Small bathroom but I only need it for two things, neither of which requires a mansion. Come on people, it’s a bathroom for Pete’s sake! The TV is updated with good channel selection. The internet worked just fine for me.
I don’t usually eat at hotel restaurants. I find they are overpriced and not up to par with other local places, so no comment there. My only complaint is the noise. Trains, river barges, traffic. It is what it is. Look on a map before booking. If there are train tracks near by, guess what… It’s not the hotel’s fault.
I am pleasantly surprised. My advise to those who complain… Go pay $ 400 per night at the Hyatt.

I’m reading all these bad reviews on Belle Of Baton Rouge. I see they’re all about the casino, so I’ll write about the Hotel.
When pulling up to the hotel it was cool. Walking in, it kind of felt like a convention center and less hotel like.
The staff were very nice and helpful. When given my room key they give you a code to the guest parking lot. I think this was great, because we didn’t have to search for parking with the people visiting the casino.
The room was very clean. It wasn’t anything special. But clean is good enough. It was also modern, except for the tube television. But it was okay.
Check out was easy.
They change the parking lot code on Fridays. That was a problem, but nothing to make me not come back. I enjoyed my stay

This review is for the hotel only. I’m here right now and I would leave right now if I could. I’m checking out two days early, in the morning, for the following reasons:
1. The smell
2. The dampness on the bedding, carpet, you name it
3. The grime on walls
4. The two kinds of hair and more grime in the shower (I am actually dirtier after taking a shower here.)
5. The noise
6. The unfriendly staff
7. The scary parking lot
I’m hoping to escape this hell before the list grows. I would certainly not eat here.
