Alder Creek Veterinary

Had a really great experience here. Took my new kitten here for de-​worming and flea shots. Very lovely and clean place and nice service. I was able to make an appointment for the next day. I was able to use a coupon which they gave me for a free frontline plus. Front desk and doctors were both nice and told me everything I needed to know about my kitten.
One bad point is that I was suppose to have a follow up appointment which was set about three weeks after my first one. But I forgot, and they never called or sent a reminder. Depending on what services you need, this is a good place in BG to go to for your pets.

I was an Alder Creek client for fifteen years, so don’t think this review is without merit. My cats were seen by Dr. Meltzer twice, and that was twice too many.
First time: My cat was diagnosed with a terminal heart condition. Meltzer recommended to see a $ 500 Portland cardiologist for my cat, right after telling me he was terminal. That’s the equivalent of paying a hairstylist $ 40 to tell me my hair is brown. No point in any of it. I was devastated by this diagnosis, but Meltzer was so insensitive about it that my own heart felt like it was pummeled.
Second time (two weeks ago — it was just the worst): My cat had a huge decrease in appetite and was vomiting profusely, and they told me the only available vet was Dr. Meltzer, so naturally, I was very tentative. He went through a battery of tests (resulting in barely anything) while I was at work, and after five hours, I came to pick her up. I was presented with three medications and a bill of $ 389, not having a clue as to why. One vet tech said it was for a «bladder infection» and I didn’t understand it. I begged for him to give me an explanation. He said that she either had one life-​threatening disease or another life-​threatening disease, and if I didn’t pony up another $ 400 within the next four days, she was going to be in a «death spiral»…he just didn’t know why exactly. (It was like one of those fake fortune tellers you only see in the movies that will only communicate in $$$$.) I left much more poor, with no diagnosis, and worried sick.
So please, if you have a cat, don’t suffer through this kind of «care.» I took my cat to the Feline Care Clinic in Orchards and they gave her the ONE TEST she needed, the ONE TEST she didn’t get, her diagnosis, and now I’m thrilled to give her the happiness she needs and deserves. I’ve never been so frustrated, angry and sick to my stomach.

Very disappointed with the service my little sister got. Philip Meltzer have made my sister feel that she does not deserve to own a cat simply because she could not «pay thousands» to take care of it. Dr. Melter was very unprofessional and insensitive. Would not recommend this place, nor ever take my pets there.

Very poor customer service. Front Desk Staff an ongoing, known problem. Ridiculous prescription process. High volume of customers results in degraded quality. Was asked to give clininc one more chance and when we did business went on as it had before and conversation had never taken place. Asked to get phone call to discuss problems encountered at the clinic and never heard back.

overall this is a great veterinarian office that puts pets first, and is very accommodating to all animals. furthermore, they took great care of my little dog when he had an ear infection and made sure he got lots of love. The only thing I would suggest this business work on is their overall customer service experience. Don’t get me wrong they aren’t necessarily rude just not very attentive and tend to ignore the humans because they’re putting so much attention into their patients/​animals. They did manage to fit me in last minute on a very busy Saturday night, but did not do so with a smile. However, I would go back to this business because they are very kind and attentive to my doggy.

I will never take my pets anywhere else. Dr. Jackie Tegarden is my dog Lilla’s main vet. My dog is a bit nervous and Jackie always manages to make her more comfortable as well as always takes the time to answer my millions of questions. I never feel rushed and always feel as if my dog is being well looked after. She has been Lilla’s main vet for about three years now, Dr. Audrey White has also helped with Lilla’s care in the past and has been wonderful too.
Jackie has also been the vet I have used for my rabbit Bun Bun. Bun Bun developed an infection that Jackie helped me fight for months. Even recommended me to a exotic pet specialist when the time came for more specialized help. Unfortunately Bun Bun recently lost that battle and we had to put her down. It was a hard thing for us since we loved her some much. I was feeling rather blue over the situation when a few days ago I received a card in the mail from the Alder Creek Clinic, It was very touching they even ALL signed it. It meant a great deal to me.
Dr. Mary Anne Haggerty even helped me out once when one of my ducks cut her foot and I couldn’t get it to stop bleeding. She was great with my duck and I would recommend her to anyone with a bird.
I live in Vancouver now and even though there are many close vets to our new home Lilla and any other pets we have will always go to Alder Creek its worth the drive to us. The entire staff is wonderful. The front desk greets you with a smile and is always very helpful. I love seeing their dogs who are always sprawled out behind the counter.
Not all vets are good vets. I worked for a vet years ago, that job only lasted a few months because I couldn’t stand the way he treated the animals. To him they where just a means of making money. If you love your pet as much as I love mine you know how important it is to find a vet who cares. These are diffidently pet people! And they diffidently care!

Great facility, compassionate staff and knowledgeable vets. Have been taking our pets there for many years and have always had a great experience.

If you love your pets, please do not take them to this veterinary clinic. Each doctor will diagnose your pet with a completely different problem and tell you to buy medications that will make your pet even sicker. It would be nice if the doctors at the clinic compared notes or checked the animal’s records before giving it more and more harmful medications.

We have taken our dogs to Dr. Haggerty for many years. She performed a complicated surgery on my lab mix and gave him an extra year of life with us. I trust my pets to no one else. The new facility is beautiful, clean and has a nice large waiting room. I will never take my pets to anyone else!!!

Dr. Mary Ann Haggerty just moved into her new state of the art Veterinary Clinic. This is our dogs only Vet. A nice caring place to go.
