The Legend Of Captain Jack Sparrow

What a waste of Disney property. I felt the shoe was kind of hokey. Definitely did not meet up to Disney standards.
Here is what you get. A talking skull. Dialogue between the talking skull and some girl that shows up later.
Don’t bother with this attraction. Go wait in line somewhere, will ya! You’ll be better off,

This attraction is terrible. The only reason it gets 2 stars over 1 is the fact that the effects (projection) were so realistic that it took a few minutes to tell if there were actually actors on the stage or if it were a video.
Overall, this is not worth wasting your time on. You are herded into a room where you watch a video. There is no plot, some singing (where they tell you to sing along and assume that you know the words), and stand around for a bit. Honestly, I was bored. I absolutely love Disney, and I was completely taken aback by how low quality this attraction was.
It’s surprising that the writers /​designers got this through enough approvals for it to actually be made into something.

I hate to say it, but this attraction is just not very good. You enter into a a room with pirate decorations and stand for about a 10 minute show. It had a few amusing lines but it was not all that exciting.
I would have given it 2 stars but the projection of Jack Sparrow is so good that is difficult to tell if it’s a projection or a live actor. I just wish they would have used it to better effect.

I gave it 2 stars only because it still looks new but it’s a pretty lame attraction that looks like a Disney engineer found an unused broom closet he decided to fit a themed attraction in. There are bad angles, lame dialogue and the plot of it is lamer than most, and that’s saying a lot. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

Thank GOODNESS I didn’t have to wait in line for this. If I would have had to wait, I would have been perturbed. You stand in a open room and watch a show basically. The only cool thing is the amazing 3D hologram like projection of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. It’s amazing to imagine that it’s not an actor pretending to be Johnny, and it’s not the ACTUAL Johnny infront of you. The technology is great. Reminded me of the hologram on Star Trek.

Here is a tip. Don’t waste your time.
Here is another tip for Disney. Scrap the stupid fake movie like sets you keep moving in and out of this building and make a freaking ride, here.
You have the Pixar area right there and a wealth of movies to choose from. You have lots of wasted space, here. Move the Pixar sign up, put a ride in here from Cars or, better yet, Monsters. Give the guest something worth their dime. That way, maybe Toy Story Midway Mania will have a little line attrition.
Really, Disney, this is beyond stupid how you have handled this space. One ride and constant half hearted «attractions». I see that stupid Jack Sparrow 50,000,000 times on Pirates of the Caribbean already now that you guys have screwed with what was already a perfect ride. Now I gotta go here and see him just because you guys didn’t want to spend the money or innovate a new ride?
Ok, done ranting. Like I said, waste of time. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. This was absolutely the WORST attraction at Disney. We waited 45 minutes to stand in a room and have a projected skull talk to us. I was sure that was just the intro and then you’d move on to the real attraction… but that was it. Absolutely awful, I’m literally thinking about writing a complaint letter to Disney.

This is not a time killer while you’re waiting for a Fast Pass time to come or for the parade or for another show. This is a complete time suck of an attraction and not worth going into even if you get there as they’re letting people in. I really hate to say that about Disney; especially this park being one of my favorites. I should have jumped ship as I was pulling up the reviews rather than walking the plank into this waste of a space.
I don’t know what was here before, but my advice is to sink this pirate ship and start over. The ONLY redeeming quality — like Liz C. mentioned — is the hologram of Mr. Depp. Even Mr. Depp isn’t worth the wait for this attraction.

Don’t waste your time standing in line for this «attraction».
It was boring and you have to stand during the show.

The hologram of JD is epic. But that’s it.
I would never go on it again. I waited an hour, in blazing heat… for a joke of a ‘show’.
Not worth it. Stick to Pirates at MK.

Half a star would still be giving this experience too high of a rating. This is one of only two attractions at Disney that my family can truly say we did not like. I have heard rumors that it is still only in its early stages and they are still revamping. Let’s just say, I hope so.
Not only did we wait 30 minutes in a cramped and crowded line, outside, pouring in sweat, but once we were ushered into the first room, it was a madhouse. We were ushered in like cattle (never a good sign), and stuffed (literally stuffed, you could not move an inch) into a waiting room where we watched a little video, then ushered into another room, again, mad chaos of pushing and jerking, and then standing STUFFED in another room. We still thought there would be a ride at some point. Nope, the second room is it. Then we have to crane our necks upward to watch a holographic show (boring, boring, boring). We were very uncomfortable, my son couldn’t see anything because everyone around us was too tall, and we couldn’t move an inch to get him to a position where he could see. It was awful, simply awful.

This attraction felt like it was something Disney would construct to entertain you while you’re waiting in line. When it was over I heard a woman ask, «That’s it??» and I think that sums it up nicely. I waited forty minutes in line for this and it absolutely was not worth it. After you make your way through the line you’re corralled into a room where a talking skull on the wall prepares you for your adventure. All good so far. You enter a fairly large room that is themed quite nicely. There are pirate skeletons, gold doubloons, a wrecked pirate ship, etc. After seeing that you would think you’re about to be impressed. You’re not. You literally spend the entire time watching a floating skull projected on a screen. At one point Johnny Depp (who is on another screen) makes an appearance. JD never leaves that screen and nothing remotely substantial happens. Animatronic skeletons? Nope, just projections on the screen. Fire? Nope, just projections on the screen. I could have stayed home and watched a Pirates of Caribbean blu-​ray and been more entertained.

The worst attraction I have ever seen at a Disney park.
The wait can be long and I really cannot recommend it even if there is no wait at all. It seems like a quick after thought of an attraction to fill some space.
First, you have to stand the whole time so if you wait 30 minutes in line or so to see it you have to continue to stand throughout. Secondly, all you are going to see is a video projected on a wall anyway.
This entire setup is very un Disney and there are much better uses for your time.

As others have correctly pointed out, this is not a ride! This is a show that is literally standing room only, so if you like standing in line and then standing some more to watch Johnn Depp talk on a screen, go for it. But I wouldn’t waste my time since there are much better things to do at the park. The show is so bad that I actually felt embarrassed for Captain Jack Sparrow.

The only thing worth seeing in this attraction is Hologram Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. He shows up towards the end of the «show». Other than that, all you’re going to do is stand in room while a projected skull on the wall talks to you about being a pirate.
I can’t believe I stood in line 30 minutes for this. They didn’t even let you sit down for this «show». You stand the entire time.
My guess is this is really just an opportunity to sell Pirates of the Caribbean merchandise at the exit door.

DON’T GO ON THIS. DO NOT RIDE THIS. IT IS NOT WORTH THE WAIT!!!
Okay, now that i’ve gotten that out of the way. We were looking for something to do to kill the time before Fantasmic but didn’t have enough time to ride a big ride. So what then? Let’s try this cool looking pirates thing!
Mistake #1 — Getting in line. It’s super long and moves slower than you’d think. It took about 45 minutes to get in and about 40 minutes of that was standing in the same spot. My back was hurting and i was tired. Needless to say, i was NOT comfortable
Mistake #2 — We didn’t read the reviews. You all warned us but we didn’t check the reviews until 30 minutes into it. At that time, we were commited.
We were joking that this would be as bad as «Poseidon’s Fury» from Island’s of adventure. We were wrong. It’s WORSE. The only «cool» thing about it is that the imagery for Captain Jack Sparrow actually looked real.
So the actual experience is a series of images on different surfaces to portray skeletons and ships and you’re in a battle or something like that. It’d be cool for kids who LOVE pirates I guess… but if I were a kid, i’d be annoyed.
TL:DR — Just avoid it.

Long line for a boring show.
I really love the technology that they use to project textured images onto fabric/​walls/​etc. to make the ship actually look like a moving ship. BUT you just stand in a room and see some waves crashing and Johnny Depp yell incoherently at you.
If there is no wait, I would recommend it just to see it, but not to wait longer than 20 minutes.

Cute, but mainly for little kids. The wait time was pretty long: 30 – 45 minutes for what was promised to be a near on-​set experience. Ok, I’m game.
I walked in, and it does seem like you’re on a sound stage but maybe it’s a 270 soundstage and not 180. There’s definitely stuff going on behind you. You stand the whole time for this 8 – 10 minute interactive show that is led by the Jolly Roger flag skull head. To «become a pirate,» he has you do all this stuff to ward off evil that showed up in each of the movies (mermaids, cursed gold skeleton zombies, The Kracken), etc.
Then, at the end, you have about 3 minutes with Captain Jack Sparrow. I must admit the technology is super cool at this point. It is Johnny Depp in the flesh! …in the Disney Magic! He ensures that you cap off the whole experience by taking his Pirate Oath. And then the show is over…
Hmm, if your kids (6 – 10) are huge Pirate movie fans, they’ll love this. Make sure you can get them towards the front so they can see. However, most of us just found the «storyline» kind of hokey and not very fulfilling given the waiting experience and standing up to watch the show…
If your kids are scared easily, this is a pretty immersive environment which they might find a little too overwhelming.

This is a 1-​star EASY… only saving grace is the technology is pretty cool. You’ll see. That is, if you can stand the wait in line for this NON ride NON sit down attraction.
Here are my tips:
1) If you must check it out (you have kids, you love the movie, whatever), then go EARLY MORNING!!! I went at 9:30AM and it was only 20 – 30 min wait. This attraction is (to me) not even worth that length of time of a wait.
2) Stand middle-​right for best view. But best view would be outside walking by and not spending any time waiting for this attraction.
It’s pretty much just a come inside, look at a few screens, listen to some talking, and that’s it. One room. Standing.

I was surprised to see a new attraction in Hollywood Studios so my family and I went in to check it out. What a disappointment. I guess this is geared towards kids or something because I sure had a boring time.
You stand in this small room with replicas of Jack’s ship and treasures scattered about. There is a TV on the wall and you sometimes see that pirate skull talking through there. But the pirate skull is mostly talking through the sail on the ship. It is somewhat interactive when the pirate skull asks you to chant or say ARRRR or stomp on the ground, but that’s about it. You get to watch an amusing hologram Jack Sparrow but you really don’t do that much in this attraction.
Also depending on where you stood you can’t see the TV on the wall very well because the mermaid on the ship’s front is totally blocking your view. That was disappointing.
Unless they make drastic improvements I am not coming back to this attraction!
