Chiddy’s Cheesesteaks

Great steak, great bread. Prices are very fair and the menu is pretty extensive menu for a food truck.

The Empanadas are so tasty I almost like them more then mine. They are delicious a little pricey at 3.50 each but very good.

A solid 3.5 stars. I’m rounding up to a 4 for the great staff & the empanadas.
I was leaving the parking lot of Petco & Harbor Freight when what is that I see out the corner of my left eye?! What’s that orange & yellow thing? A truck? Tucked in the corner of this parking lot. Who’d of thunk it?! Not me!
I was just wondering to myself what am I gonna have for dinner tonight since it’s Friday & against the law to cook on Fridays. Dayum I gotta back the car up it looks like it might be really good.
I park the car & walk up. Jackie greets me promptly & asks if I’ve been here before. I tell her what just happened & she proceeds to give me the lowdown. Try the cheesesteak she says. They also serve empanadas if I’m interested. Uh, YES!
I asked where did the name of the truck come from. Chiddys named for the owners last name
Michael Chidester. Saw him leave, but I didn’t know he was the owner he was very friendly.
So I ordered the rib eye cheesesteak with onions, provolone & whiz. I also got the classic beef Empanada & a Tuscan chicken Empanada. The cheesesteak had great flavor but I would’ve liked a little more meat. Otherwise the flavor was on point. Flavorful without being over salty. Just the lack of meat disappointed me. I like the fact that Danny toasted the bread also. Nice touch.
The highlight of the truck was the Empanadas. They were packed with meat & so flavorful. In the beef I tasted good beef, onions, olives, spices with cheese. Sooo good. Now I’m not a fan of chicken empanadas, I haven’t found one I’ve liked yet. This one was very good. I feel it needed more spices & flavor but it was the best chicken empanada I’ve had yet.
So would I go back? Yes! Absolutely! For the cheesesteak, Yes, but Probably more for the empanadas though. LOL. So give it a whirl if you’re in the area.

The service was way too Slow!!! Although the food was good, the wait time didn’t seem appropriate for the level of busyness.

Cheese steak fries!!! Do it! With peppers

Having lived in Philadelphia for a couple of years I know a thing or two or about cheesesteaks. Since I moved to New York I have been searching far and wide for a place that can stand up to Philly. And not just the popular places like pats and genos but the hidden ones that a tourist can’t find without prior knowledge.
Chiddys is easily the best cheesesteak on Long Island. Philly still does it better, but chiddys is damn close! I can’t wait to go back and try some of their other creations. They are a very welcome addition to New York. Thanks for making an authentic cheese steak!

OMG! This is the best cheesesteak I’ve ever had! I ordered two juniors, one with extra Whiz and onions and the other with onions, Whiz, chipotle aioli and bacon. I had a half of each, and they were both awesome! To me, the Whiz makes it. I’m not a sliced cheese on a cheesesteak person, although they do offer that if you prefer. I drove quite a way to get this, and it was very much worth the trip! Try a Chiddy’s’s cheesesteak today, you’ll love it!

after spending some $ at best buy in bayshore we were blown away with the best mobile cheese steak i ever ate, i recommend the combo as well as the chilli… the service was fast & the food was fresh…

Hey everybody, so I have some positive input for this food truck. First off, you should know that I’m a quality first guy and then a price guy. I’m willing to pay for quality over a good deal any day. I.e. wait 10min for properly cooked vs fast food.
That being said, I didn’t get the two girls’ names but the cook (attended culinary school) was great. I could see her skill in properly preparing the meat as well cooking it making sure it was dripping or too dry. I ordered a Philly cheese steak btw. The meat was nicely seasoned and of course, hot and fresh. The meat seemed to melt in your mouth with every bite. The selection of cheese was almost overwhelming but welcome since most places pigeon hole you into 1 or 2 choices only. The bread they served the meal on was also fresh and they toasted it. No burnt bread at all.
The fries were freshly prepared as well and seasoned fairly with salt… they toss it in a bowl in front of you. The fries were also not that oily which is also welcome when most people give a soggy sad looking mess. They were crispy and kept a proper fry form for the majority of the fries. No microwave fries or steamed stuff. Also, the cheese was melted perfectly. Not too melted where it turns into water or dries into rubber. The consistency was gooey all throughout as it should be with a cheese steak.
It always helps that the staff are cheery as all he’ll which is always good. I stood outside the truck in 28 degree winds winter weather and even they made smile out there.
I should also add that, for a truck, their menu is quite robust. Plenty to order from but not too much that it overwhelms you. I also find it very convenient that they take credit/​debit since I don’t always carry cash.
The only thing I can see this truck improving on is to perhaps invest in a nice awning for the nice weather around the corner. It would surely come in handy for rainy days or really hot sunny ones.
Like I said, quality wins over a deal for me and if your anything like me, then you should definitely give this truck a try. With the cook’s expert cooking skills and awsome attitude, not to mention how clean the inside of the truck looks, it’s a win win situation.

This is a great food truck, food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. I recommend it to everybody I know that lives or work around the area.

Went to chiddys for the first time today with my wife and daughter. we ordered both the cheesesteak and chicken cheese steaks. good food .the bread is absolutely awesome, really good rolls, prices are very reasonable and the lady who took our order was friendly and very likable. looking forward to my next visit.

One of the best cheesesteaks I’ve had outside of Philly. I got mine with whiz and onions (~$ 8.50) and it was delicious, just wish it would’ve been bigger. I also got the chiddy dog ($ 4.50) which has whiz, chopped ribeye and jalapeños on it, and that was delicious too. The hot dog was very juicy and had a good snap to it when I bit it. I will definitely be back.
The food truck changes locations daily, although most days it is near the Best Buy in Bayshore. Check their social media for their location before going.

Living on Long Island is pretty great. The quality and variety of the food is vastly superior to many other parts of the country. Sadly, there is a dearth of good cheesesteaks.
I had been looking for a place that specialized in cheesesteaks (instead of it being an afterthought on the menu) for quite a while. When I heard about Chiddy’s, I headed down there the next day.
Service: Excellent. That’s not an exaggeration. They were friendly, knowledgeable, food was prepared quickly and they brought it to my car.
Pricing: Reasonable. If I’m remembering right the cheesesteak was $ 8 or $ 9 with the works and it was a meal unto itself.
Quality: The cheesesteak was A) huge B) full. This wasn’t a situation where 25% of the bun was empty. The food was plentiful. It was also delicious. I tried to go fairly minimalist in order to judge the food at it’s standard level. I had a cheesesteak w/​provolone, onions, peppers and mushrooms. No A1, no hot sauce, etc. It was very good.
Ambiance: They are in sort of a little culdesac in the Best Buy parking lot. Plenty of space for parking. There were no chairs or tables set up (if anyone remembers, The Hot Dawg Truck in Garden City used to set some up).
Conclusion: I’ll be returning the next time I’m in the area.

Ok… what am I going to say here. i feel kind of bad because the people on this food truck were so very sweet… in fact I am adding on another star to this and giving them 3– because they were fast and friendly.
I already was pissed to see this truck sitting there where the food truck «eat me drink me» should have been sitting. I found out they alternate weeks at the TCFU artisanal farmers market.
Either way I was thinking FOOD TRUCK IM STARVED IT HAD TO BE GOOD.
Well…I don’t know I was not impressed by the cheesesteak sandwich I got– It was just bla… the topping were mediocre like the tomatoes… boring old slicing tomatoes that a deli would use. Meanwhile, right next to the truck sits «Thera Farms» vegetable stand with their huge sweet organic heirlooms waiting for the taking. If it was my truck Id be all over that. Eat me drink me uses those heirlooms. I pay $ 4 a pound for those big babies! It makes all the difference and makes good, great. The toppings were sad-​and iceberg lettucy
Overall it was lunch– forgettable, sufficient to kill the hunger beast and meh.
Sorry Chiddy’s you guys are super nice but I could have done better at home with a nice cut of steak shredded up and some good bread and toppings.

I was at Moustache Brewery’s first birthday party in Riverhead this past weekend and I had the chance to taste one of Chiddy’s cheesesteak sandwiches. It was delicious! The staff was super friendly. They had a great selection of stuff. I’d totally come back for more. Actually I WILL be back for more.

They could set up on any block in Philly and compete. This from a cheesesteak pro have family in Philly and am a Pat’s man with tony Luke and steve — the prince of steaks in the mix. Let me tell you this place ranks. Could use some hot peppers but aside from that little to say but GREAT… had classic wiz wit and a cheese fries. Meat fresh delicious fries fresh and extremely tasty as well

Hands down… Best cheesesteak north of Philly. Fresh meat, fresh veggies, soft bread, and crispy fries… every time! Quick and friendly service. Chiddy’s has become a weekly treat for my wife and I. Truck is always spotless…

As I write this review I am sitting in the parking lot where Chiddy’s is enjoying their delicious mushroom steak with extra wiz and wiz fries… hands down best cheesesteak I’ve ever eaten. Me and my boyfriend come here at least twice a week. Never disappointed! These guys definitely know what they’re doing.

I had to add this truck to Unilocal since I almost missed it. My bf and I were in the area looking for a good place for lunch and saw this truck while we were on our way to some other place Unilocal recommended. I am soooooo glad we did not pass it by! The food is amazing! I ordered the Pepper-​steak with mozzarella and onions and the meat was mouthwatering and the juices coming out of the sandwich made sort of an au jus. The cheese fries were fresh cut fries seasoned perfectly with the perfect amount of «the wiz» on top! I highly recommend you stop here.
