Forward RISE is a NYS nonprofit committed to the real inclusion of people with disabilities through knowledge-​sharing workshops and inclusive social experiences. As civil rights advocates, we educate our community about vital social, economic and personal concepts of equality. Our goal is to remove the stigma, and awaken the public to embrace, not just accept, those of us who have disabilities.

Meet the Business Owner

Melissa D.

Business Owner

Melissa is a mother, wife, advocate & blogger who was born and raised on Long Island, New York. She has two children, both with medical needs. She believes it is her mission to change how people with disabilities are viewed as charity cases or inspirational trinkets. She advocates for social and civil justice for people with disabilities through her blog and online communities. Her articles have been featured on the prominent websites Disability/​Accessibility Daily and 1800wheel​chair​.com. She has also guest blogged on several peer blogs.

She believes in Equality For All, ALWAYS!
