Love my hair stylist, but the shampoo lady’s always seem reluctant to wash my hair. They always seem unhappy and get water all over my face. I always come home and wash my hair again because they don’t do it thoroughly.

I had the worst experience. Normally I come here for just my highlights and color. Sylvana is great. And Roula is amazing at washing my hair. (Best scalp massage).
But last Sunday I was there with my mom and daughter. We needed our hair and our make up done for my brothers wedding. NEVER AGAIN!!!
I booked my appointments 2 – 3 weeks prior to my brothers wedding. I made 9am appts for all of us because we needed to be home by 11. The photographer was coming to the house by noon and I had to get home by 11 to dress my 3 kids that were in the wedding party.
There was a woman checking in before me that told the receptionist she was there for a hair appt but she would also like to have her makeup done even though she did not make an appt. The receptionist told her there were only 2 makeup artists there but she would try her best to accommodate her.
My daughter and I then proceeded to get our hair done. I was finished first so I went to the makeup counter and the makeup artist started my makeup. My mom came over next. But when she came I had just begun my makeup and the other makeup artist, Diana, was working on another client. So my mom was patiently waiting.
Then all of a sudden, the woman that had checked in before me came over and said, «Diana I have to be at a party at 12 so can you do my makeup next?» Diana replied yes of course. I then very politely said,” excuse me but my mom and daughter have appointments that we made weeks ago and my mom has been waiting and was here first. My daughter will be finishing up too and will be going after my mother. This woman did not have an appointment.” The woman then very rudely said for me not to make it a big deal and stressed she had a party at 12. I again explained to her that it was my brothers wedding day and we all need to be back at the house by 11 but the fact is we had appointments and she did not. Diana was getting very upset at me because apparently this woman was one of her good clients. I get that Diana wanted to please her client but how is it fair that we 3 had appointments and were completely disregarded. Then to make matters worse Diana walks out and says I’m not working on anyone. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE!!!
I then went to the receptionist to explain to her what was going on and she then proceeded to give me a whole new story. She said this lady had a 9:30 appt. I turned around to her and said, I heard her telling you that she did not have an appt. and that you will try your best to squeeze her in. She then tells me to come look at her computer. I said do you think I’m that stupid!!! I heard this woman and you have this conversation. She denied it.
My blood pressure was boiling at this point. I should have just walked out but I had to get our makeup done. So in the end Diana refused to work on any of us. we all had to use the 1 other girl that was there. We didn’t leave there till 11:50. It took me 25 minutes to get home. I came from Manhasset. We were late getting everyone ready including ourselves.
I have been getting my hair colored here for years and have always had a pleasant experience with Sylvan and Roula. I never expected to be treated with such disrespect.
NEVER AGAIN! If you have a big affair do not go here unless you want to start your day with high blood pressure. Shame on them!

I have visited Christie’s twice now — the first time was for highlights with John and the second time for a haircut with Cassie. Previously, I had been going to the same stylist/​colorist for 15+ years and decided to try something new this year. Of note, I have long, thick hair with long layers. John was very professional and did an excellent job selecting a slightly different blond color, recommending that I go a little lighter. I was very pleased with the color, which was perhaps just a bit strawberry blond, but it works really well with my complexion, and the highlights are natural-​looking as I had requested. I would highly recommend John. My experience with Cassie was equally wonderful. She really took her time trimming the ends and creating more long layers, and when it came time for the blow out, I appreciated that she asked if I had wanted the ends curled a bit or just straight. Once my hair was dry, she did some finishing touches on the ends, trimming to make sure any dead ends were not missed. I appreciate this level of detail and would highly recommend Cassie as well.
I thought I would also note that the reception staff were perfectly pleasant to me on both occasions, and very welcoming given that I was new to the salon and probably had that look on my face like, «please don’t hurt my precious hair!!» I also want to note that the women who washed my hair was also very sweet. The prices are perhaps a bit expensive but I’ve been so happy with the outcome of each experience that I truly feel it’s worth it. I’m not sure what the story is with the negative reviews about the staff but my impression in general is that if you’re pleasant to them, there’s not reason for them not to be pleasant to you. I’m excited to now be a part of the Christie’s family and look forward to future visits.

I booked the prom package for my daughter for her hair and make up. We also did eyebrows too. It was a wonderful experience! The staff was friendly and helpful. Michael did a beautiful job on her hair. My daughter showed him a photo and he recreated something even better! Diana also did a great job with makeup. They were awesome and really made my daughter and I feel super comfortable and my daughter looked amazing on her special day. Thank you!

I have been to Christies many times and it has either been and awful experience or a great experience, I guess it depends on who’s working at the time. The last time I was there i ask to have my hair died red with highlights and I walked out with dark blonde highlights. The colorist tried to make it up by making it a darker blonde but it just wasn’t what I wanted. Also the ladies at the front desk aren’t so friendly and never smile.

I was really skeptical about getting a Brazilian done but always wanted to try it. My friend said if you’re going to do it go to Rosetta. I took her word for it and I couldn’t thank her enough! Rosetta made me feel so comfortable about the whole experience when I was really nervous. We talk like friends, I can tell her anything. She even gives me advice. I look forward to my monthly visit with her. I’m not even from the area and have to travel alittle to get to her but I don’t care. She is WELL WORTH IT! Just saw her this morning– what a beautiful person and the BEST waxer around! Trust me you won’t be disappointed with her! Happy waxing!

Very sneaky salon. I asked to give me a stylist that was not as expensive as my last ($ 65) master stylist. So the receptionist said ok. A non monster stylist so she puts me with someone who charges $ 62. Are you serious. When I say least expensive I was looking for someone who charges $ 45 and lower. Maybe I should of been more specific but I thought the lady would like of known what I was talking about. Not professional at all.

It was my first time there but everyone made me feel very welcomed.
But I had just a haircut, for the cut that I had it was definitely over priced. I am new to the area and was hoping this would become my regular hair salon but it is definitely not worth the price. It was not a bad haircut but it wasn’t amazing either. I had better cuts with much lower pricing.

ROSETTA…the Imperial Goddess of all things Hair… REMOVAL. I am not a shy person. I have waxed all over NYC, and still will if things get out of control and I absolutely have to (three small children and a business… hard to find time). However, if I think there is even a remote chance of fitting in a trip to Christies for a wax, I will hold out as long as possible. It is as simple as THERE ISN’T ANYWHERE — OR ANY PERSON BETTER — IN ALL OF NYC — THAN Rosetta at Christie’s in Bayside. Period. Full stop. Final answer. etc… for those of you thinking about it trying Rosetta and are not newbies, you will exhale with complete surrender and satisfaction. Yup. she is all that. It will be the first time that waxing will not be a stress-​filled, pain-​filled, disappointing necessity. If you are new to waxing, well, you are in NO BETTER hands than Rosetta. Newbies, Waxing is PAINFUL. What I can assure you is, it is LESS painful with Rosetta than with anyone else. Im not exactly sure how long I’ve been waxing with Rosetta-​long enough to forget-​and long enough to KNOW exactly what Im talking about.
JOHN…Bless Him… he has MASTERFULLY achieved every color whim that has ever crossed my mind (which has been A LOT – I own a business in the fashion district… ever changing trends!) Please, bring a picture of your goal color. He will either nail it EXACTLY, or will get as close to it as your hair will allow. He is easy to talk to, has seen and understands every trend since… forever (sorry john :)))) and will let you know every step what he is doing and why… SO awesome. For example, just 3 days ago, I brought in a picture of color that I was hoping he could replicate on me. well, I KNOW MY HAIR, and knew it wouldnt be easy. His suggestion was to lighten a certain amount, but then use a SHAMPOO to brighten it the rest of the way. What I wanted was white highlights with beige/​platinum low lights. My hair is dark ash blonde that lightens RED. Yes, a challenge. I said okay. I will admit some apprehension to using a coloring shampoo, having gone down that road before… but… VIOLA!!! I left with butter-​colored hair, expertly cut, and deeply conditioned and feeling amazing. The second day after, washed with purple shampoo
VIVIENNE…is a TRUE hair NINJA. I’ll admit, I have bounced around Chrisites a little bit, trying different cutters/​stylists. There is an enormous amount of talent there. why is Vivienne part of this review? Because she is PRESENT. I know. Seems simple, right? well, i’ll tell you its not. Especially in the day and age of always connected, always online, forever social. Not only does she check and double check that she understands what you want, she will also let you know if your hair can actually do it (mine is baby fine, random waves/​curls, always processed). She truly gives it her all to make sure that the communication is in the same language, so to speak. We VIBE. plain and simple. I have only had 4 cuts with her, but, each time, it gets better, and because of my very short pixie is now a hot looking bob. Book an appointment with Viv. Bring a «wish photo». discuss the possibilities. settle on a strategy. then… watch…her hands are little bit like lightening. she has, six? maybe eight? pairs of scissors, all are different, and the way she maneuvers between them is Ninja like… I am old enough to have seen that before, but it was a long, long time ago. Probably longer than she’s been cutting.
For the newbies to Christies… walk to the second desk, the first one you reach is where you will pay when it’s all done. the second desk is where you check in, in the center of the whole salon itself, to the left of the entrance/​retail area. after you let them know you are there, walk due right (back toward the retail area, but not exactly, go straight to the jacket/​salon cover closet. hang your jacket (if you have one, get a cover/​robe from the shelf of folded ones) then sit and read. or shop in the retail area. or just watch the stylists (this is what i do if I have to wait). Its simple. Please don’t be that kind of person who needs someone to hold their hand, we are all grow women. dont consider someone is rude because they dont want to wipe your a$$. they will call your name, and direct you where to go when your colorist or hair washer is ready for you. its all really simple. don’t be intimidated by chandeliers for goodness sake.
I have not encountered one rude person in all the years that I have wandered in and out of this salon. I have not been a steady, but I do keep coming back for the quality of the talent employed here… chandeliers not withstanding…
be bold. be fearless. be precise. how can you expect perfection or precision when you don’t know exactly how to ask for it?
at this salon, more often than anywhere… you ask… you receive. PERIOD.
and yes, it’s not cheap for that.

I come here more regularly recently than I have in past 4 years than I’ve lived in Bayside. I haven’t really found anyone that I truly have been satisfied with my cut. I’ve even tried the calligraphy cut and not overly impressed with the results. However, I am very happy to have my nails done here. I have used Kelly and Annie. Both are very skilled. I have u.v. gel. They are quick and precise. There is minimal extra shaping needed after they apply the gel.
Also, recently, I decided to color my hair. I have not colored my hair in over 10 years. I made an appointment with John. I wanted to go from dark brown to blonde. I expressed my concerns and failed attempts in the past. He assured me I’d be ok in his hands. He used highlights to lighten the majority of my hair. After the wash out he felt adding a toner will help soften my base.
Viola, I’m blonde. I have received many compliments on my color change. I am still getting use to it. I’ve been orange and yellow with failed attempts but never blonde. Thanks John, I appreciate your professional skills and knowledge.
Only bad part is the dryness at my ends. BUT I did apply such a drastic change to my hair, so it is to be expected. I just use a home remedy mask for my hair and it looks healthy.

We came in here today to get my dad’ haircut. They were so nice and attentive and kind to him. Not only that he was so happy and he really looks sharp now!

Christie’s Salon is where my two daughters and I go for every beauty treatment we want. The hair stylists make your hair beautiful, bouncy and shiny. The facials make you feel rejuvenated, the waxing is done by certified waxing masters, and the nail salon has well trained, experienced, licensed professionals. Every aspect of beauty is done by individuals who only work on their specialty. There’s a hair washing and conditioning section, the hair coloring section, with certified, licensed and highly trained colorists. A nail specialist section, all licensed and experienced. Waxing rooms. Facials and massaging rooms. Then there’s the hair stylists section with the best people you’ll ever meet. All have to go through a training period of a few years. The salon is big, bright, clean, friendly and inviting. There’s plenty of parking available. My daughters and I are here every two weeks for nails and waxing, then weekly for my wash and blow dry. Alex is my stylist and Jeannie is my manicurist. Anna is my daughters manicurist.

I am not by any means one of their «regulars» which is probably why I’ve had such awful experiences here. If you do not go often or don’t fit in with the rest of their clientele it is very hard to get their respect. Dating back to almost 10 years ago, my boyfriend had gotten me the «Queen for a day» package with manicure, pedicure, facial and massage. I decided to use it a week or so before the prom. The massage was fine, the manicure pedicure was OK, although the ones I usually get at any other lower priced places usually last longer and the facial-​left me in scars. They knew I had never gotten a facial before yet they still dug and dug at my face until there were awful scars left. They did correct the issue – I must commend them for that. They profusely apologized and gave me another package and free air brush make-​up for prom to cover up the damage they had done.
Fast forward 10 years and I won a gift card to use at Christie’s. My first instinct was to try to give it away but couldn’t find anyone that would use it so I decided to go against my better judgement and use it to get my hair and make-​up done for my engagement shoot. They did my hair well – with big curls like I asked. My make-​up, I didn’t love. She contoured my face so much that I looked broader and puffy instead of the purpose of contouring to thin the face. So then it came to paying… with my gift card, which they knew I had ahead of time. I hand in the gift card and the cashier calls over the manager who then explains to me that the giftcard was for a package – one that no longer existed (mind you I had gotten it just 3 months prior). There was some arguing and I finally gave up and reluctantly paid with my card. They gave me 20% off «for the trouble.» I was beyond upset because it was not money I planned on spending and there was no reason I should have. I had a gift card that was valued at $ 100. The fine print on the back clearly stated that the card was redeemable for its face value if it was not applied to the specific package. What a joke! Here it was supposed to be an exciting day for my fiancé and I left this awful place in tears having to fix my make-​up myself anyway. My then fiancé (now husband) wanted to take legal action against them because they clearly ripped me off but I chose not to. They aren’t worth the time and aggravation.

Alex was amazing. My hair never felt so soft and healthy. He even took the time out to explain what products work best. Please note, I only requested a wash and blow out. Nothing major.
My only complaint was the half dressed, blonde, reception staff member that greeted me coldly and had a condescending tone during payment and when I asked a question about other services. I have read many reviews about how the staff is very rude and I wonder if it is the staff or just the same middle-​aged blonde in a sheer crop top.

Took my daughter for a haircut, and unfortunately they gave her a REALLY bad cut. It has been 4 months and we are still waiting for it to grow out normally. I took her there because it was convenient, but now I regret it.
As for color, I have usually had good results. The quality of the dye they use is good, I feel it lasts awhile (compared to other salons) in regards to staying power (does not fade quickly). I think I have had good results because I bring pictures and always ask the price before the service has started. Furthermore, I always make morning appointments so that the stylist does not feel rushed and can take her time with me to discuss my color options. HOWEVER, I have had a stylist (at Christie’s) get annoyed with me for brining pictures and I really did not appreciate this. What might be one color in my mind might be a different one in yours, it is better if we are looking at the same picture. I am in no way faithful to Christie’s for color, they are convenient, easy to get an appointment with, and there is free parking.
I agree with the reviews regarding the rudeness of the administrative staff. It is really a mixed bag with this group, sometimes they are nice, sometimes they are downright awful. I think they are just stressed out when it gets super busy in there.
I got my hair blow dried here after my recent color. I again, showed a picture (of Bar Refaeli). I wanted my hair to be blown out like she had in a certain picture. My style was NOTHING like that. I came out with big olé Texas beauty queen hair. And I had to pay $ 50 for it! Disappointing. How can a stylist just give you something completely different from what you want and you still have to pay for it?

Warning! Do not go here if you have very curly natural/​ethnic hair! Took my daughter for a blowout and it was traumatizing. I’m giving 1 star because when they saw how disappointed we were, they offered to have another, more experienced, stylist do her hair over and do mine for the inconvenience. It was still mediocre at best and definitely not worth the price! The original stylist was offended and very rude. I’m surprised that for a higher end salon –in one of the most culturally diverse boroughs (Queens) — that they don’t have the means to hire talented staff that can accommodate girls/​women with beautiful, natural, curly hair. Disappointing to say the least. Will never go back.

If you would like your hair to look horrific for your wedding day, please see Enza. After two failed trials that I paid for, with promises it would be perfect on my wedding day, her poor attitude and skill landed me with a horrific hair do.
When Enza did my hair for my wedding day, not remembering anything from our trials, she just did something new that looked ridiculous. My hair looked flat and prom like and she could not replicate simple updos from photos I provided. I still get mad when I see my wedding pictures! I should have thrown a fit and asked for someone competent but due to time restraints I had to deal with my immature hair style.
This place is pretentious, overpriced, and their customer service is beyond lacking. The only reason they survive is due to the elderly population of people in the mass amount of apartments around them.
If you’re unhappy with your trial, which you will be, don’t be led astray by false promises of future perfection like I was. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

I’m reviewing this place for the Manicure/​Pedicure & Blowout/​Haircut section of the salon.
First of all, I can’t speak for anyone else’s negative experience however each time I’ve been to this salon I get treated like family. I’m here at least twice a month because I’m always getting wash/​blowdry, extensions, and manicure pedicures.
My wash girl is Valencia. I call her «my» because I always go to her! She’s extremely sweet and always gives me an awesome head massage! She’s fantastic!
My blowouts, cuts, and clipping of extensions is with Maro who is AWESOME with giving me a beautiful face frame hair cut. She knows I love big hair + extensions so she always makes my limp fine hair hair super voluminous! She’s also an expert at hair extensions so I only go to her when it comes to my hair. Especially cuts.
If Maro isn’t available, I recommend Jamie or Lisa for blowouts if you like big bouncy hair.

I used to go to Marie Nails in the city because I love nail art/​gel nails however the commute was getting a bit much for me and I really couldn’t keep up. I still love Marie Nails in Soho and recommend them for anyone in the city (I wrote a review for them) however Maro told me to try out someone at the salon who does similar work.
I was paired up with Ellis for my nails and she does an even better job than Marie Nails! My nail shape looks even better than what I had previously and she does the same kind of nail art that I always usually get. She is fantastic and a perfectionist. I’m obsessed with my nails! and I’m so happy because it’s so convenient for me too.
When I used to go to the city, my nails took 2 ½ hours to do. Ellis does my gel nails (fixes broken nails) + works her nail art magic in 1 hour Flat! maybe 1 hour and 15 mins.
I remember when I asked her «so will I be done in about 2 – 3 hours at least» she looked at me like what the hell? hahah she’s amazing.
I’ve gone to many nail places for pedicures and within 3 – 4 days my paint always used to chip, plus my shape was all distorted. Since I started getting pedicures at this place my nail paint lasts at least 3 weeks! No chips, nothing! And my toes looks perfectly shaped! I don’t get pedicures from any other place than here. I’m very happy with Christie & Co services!
The front desk women are all super sweet to me. I don’t understand these negative reviews for complaint of attitudes? It’s a busy salon so if anyone feels they are getting spoken to rudely etc. try to think of it as nothing personal against you!
Just go get whatever you need to get done and you’ll be good. Go to the women who I recommended and you’ll be very, very happy.

So after years of drugstore diying my highlights and yes, even cutting my own hair I ended up with a stringy mess with overgrown roots that the colorist, Tricia, was kind enough to call «ombré.» She fixed my two inch long mousy brown roots by giving me amazing natural looking blonde highlights. Thank you Tricia!
Marcus gave me a great haircut with lots of layers that makes my thin hair feel like it has tons of body with a nice bounce to it. Thank you Marcus!
I 100% recommend this salon, they know what they’re doing.

I have been a client of Christie’s for over 35 years. This is the best salon in Queens. If you are looking for coloring I recommend John. He colored my hair for years.
As for a stylist I recommend Jonita. She styles my hair and my husband’s.
Very modern décor and friendly staff, oh and ample parking to boot.
