History

Established in 2009.

Founded in Bayside in 2009 by Andrew Appel of Shorewood, we love our MIlwaukee Community and our pups. We opened in Bay View store in 2012. Thanks for joining the Community Bark family!

I created Community Bark because there just aren’t enough places where people can hang out and take great care of their dogs! I spent 12+ years in corporate marketing and sales and have enjoyed applying the many experiences and skills from my former career to the dog loving public. I’d love you to come in and meet Toby, my little rescue bulldog!

They got rid of the coffee bark lounge. Used to be a nice place to grab some coffee with the pup. Price is up there for grooming services but I can’t attest to it since I opted to go to my dogs regular groomer instead.

This place is awesome. It has great products for your dog and we even felt comfortable enough to sit and wait while our dog got his bath. Kind employees and a nice sitting area make this place a win in our book.

Wonderful experience for us! The women dog washers are super kind and do a very good job. My dog smells and looks so nice, and everyone compliments her coat. The blueberry facial is the best part. Every time I kiss her face it’s like heaven. :) They also sell bones that my dog loves. So glad this place is in my neighborhood.

Like the idiot that I am, I decided to take my two dogs to the dog park in the early spring when the snow is melting. We were ALL covered in mud from head to toe. We needed to change that, so I took them to Community Bark Dog Wash. The staff was AMAZING and so helpful! They showed me how to work everything and walked me through the entire process. They even babysat my puppy as I was giving the large dog a bath. They had two different soaps! A BLUEBERRY facial soap that was completely safe and used for the face and another soap that was gentle as well. And when it was all done, they cleaned their ears out for you!
My only criticism is that their prices are a little high for doing it yourself– but two clean pups was worth it. I will definitely be coming back. AWESOME place! I didn’t get to try the coffee because trying to wrangle two dogs at once was a feat itself, so next time!

Love this concept and location.
Brought my dog in for a wash with the Living Social deal and they did a wonderful job in an hour. We were able to go across the street for an hour and enjoy lunch and then return to pick up a clean Remy!
The staff is friendly and helpful, prices are good and my dog smelled absolutely wonderful… until he went to the dog park again. ;)
I will definitely bring my dog back here!

Took my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel here to be groomed for the first time. Staff was extremely helpful as I had no idea what I was looking for in a grooming.
Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Since I got there early, I got to enjoy their comfy seating area. Very nice and clean. Definitely going back!

The staff is always very helpful and friendly. I am glad to have this service available. I always do the «self-​bark.» This is where you bathe your dog yourself, but using their equipment. You’re in and out without an appointment, it is affordable and you can dirty up someone else’s tub! (you can get full service if you want). It also is much easier to give your dog a bath standing up than at home in the tub.
And, I can’t forget to mention the blueberry facial! It’s a fun little extra.
I only wish they were open in the evening during the week.

What an amazing place. Friendly people, great coffee, wonderful dog treats and toys, and most importantly fantastic dog cleaning facilities. We have a Great Pyrenees, and we like to wash him ourselves. But there aren’t many other places around Milwaukee that offer «wash em yourself» facilities and supplies, and the ones we have found aren’t well set up for big dogs. It’s economical, the shampoos they supply are top shelf, and the drying area features super fast dryers and a variety of brushes. The staff is incredibly helpful. Highly recommended!

This place is so great and I recommend it to people all the time. I go here specifically for the deer antlers they sell. That probably sounds weird but I recently discovered them here and my dog LOVES them! They are totally safe because they do not splinter. They are naturally shed in the wild and then cut into different sizes– small, med, large, xl and giant. Today, they only had the giant, which is good for my 80 lb Yellow Lab. They come at a hefty price of $ 27 however they last a couple months. Also, the antlers do not stain anything in your house because they are all natural. If your dog loses interest, soak it in cold water and that usually brings back the scent. These are the only «bones» we give her since everything else is chewed up in a day. These are long lasting and keep her interest!
We continue to wash our dog here occasionally as well. They have a frequent wash program– with both self-​wash and full service wash.
They serve Alterra coffee as well!

For about a year, I’ve been bringing my King Charles to CB for all of his grooming needs. Andrew – CB’s owner – and all of his staff have been wonderfully attentive to my anxious pup’s needs. I know anytime I leave him there for either a bath or a full grooming session that he will be well cared for and loved!

We need more great places like this in the North Shore area. This is a wonderful, locally owned business with a very friendly staff. Our poodle is a regular «customer» and the coffee shop next door is perfect for all of your Alterra coffee and baked good needs. Go and hang out with your dog and enjoy the free internet.

Love it! It’s a coffee shop that you can take your dog to!
They serve Alterra coffee and bakery. Plus they have tons of quality food, treats and toys for sale.
Tables, couches and a gas fireplace make it a great place to have your daily joe with pup in tow.
Since my dog is small enough to wash in the kitchen sink, not that I do btw, I haven’t taken advantage of their you wash or we wash services. However I have always had Comm Bark’s wonderful staff trim Ollie’s nails and they do a great job!
Super convenient right off of hwy 43 too!

The entire staff is always very friendly. The atmosphere is clean and inviting, whether you’re coming in to get your dog washed or groomed, or just for a cup of coffee. They serve Alterra coffee, so the quality of their brew is the best in the area.
