Elite Event: Carbo Italiano at Fiamma 41

Boom! (clap! The sound of my heart, the beat goes on da na na na na na-​na. j/​k)
Better late than never, always. Was this event worth trekking out to Bayside? Absolutely. For the homemade meatballs and Nutella pizza, at least. All the food I sample here was delicious and tasted like someone’s Nonna slaved away in the kitchen for me, trying to plump me up. Those meatballs were so good I made sure to point it out to the owner, and requested to Skype in his grandmother to give my personal thanks. He didn’t, but it would have been awesome.
The establishment is very obviously a family owned and operated spot, and while all the waitstaff may not be blood relatives, they certainly treat you so warmly that you’ll feel easily comfortable and welcome here. I really appreciated the obvious outgoing, friendly interactions I had with everyone who worked here. I don’t know how Fiamma 41 accomplishes it, but I was as comfortable here as I would be in a family member’s own kitchen serving me dinner.
It was great to see the other Elites, especially the ones getting fortunes read from the local fortune teller. I would have jumped on the line, but she was in more demand than cronuts at Dominique Ansel. Well, almost as much.
PS. Nutella pizza is always a good decision. KInda wish I had a glass of milk, but alcohol is just as good.

Yeah, ok so it’s almost two months since this event took place and I’m just now writing a review. That’s only because I’m just now fully digested from all of the food and drinks we had offered to us here.
Big shout out to Jando who, as always, produced a knockout event. Also big props to the owners and staff of Fiamma 41. They were welcoming and made sure that we were all well fed and never thirsty.
The food was phenomenal with the meatballs being my favorite. That being said the arancini and different types of pizza were amazing too. I mean there was S’mores Nutella pizza for crying out loud.
It was nice to have an event in bayside and it’s also nice to know that there is a new place in town (that’d be Fiamma 41 if you weren’t following) that’s putting out good food and has a great vibe. I’ll definitely be back.

I havent been to the bayside area in a little while. But this place will have me coming back.
It looks like a restaurant from the outside but the inside is very trendy, modern and dishing out some of their grandmothers best recipes!
fiamma invited a lkve band to perform which really filled the room with great music… Sometimes it was a little hard to hear, especially when they had an astrological reader,.
The staff from stoili sampled some great mixed drinks, my favorite was the blood orange!
As the food follows out came the appetizers, mozzarella and tomato skewers, mini rice balls were amazing crispy on outside with a warm gooey center, meatballs super moist! I was able to same the pizzas that came from this funky igloo looking pizza oven.
The staff was super nice. I cant wait to come back and bring my friends finally a new place to brag about that I have been to first. We are lucky that Fiamma 41 told us their secret coming to spring 15′. Bayside’s first rooftop bar!

Pizza! Pizza! Pizza!
The pizzas here are delicious!
So many varieties and including their dessert pizza.
We stood next to where they were making the pizza in the brick oven and were impressed by their skillful hands at pizza making.
Extra stars for them for making a cheese-​less pizza for my GF who couldn’t digest cheese.
It’s is great to bring the Elite troops out the to far end of Queens to discovery great restaurants I never known about.

An event in Bayside? That’s far, man! Lol.
Took us about 30 minutes with the traffic on the Cross Island but got there just in time for those sweet Stoli shots coming from the bar. I guess that would be first order of business. Well, aside from checking in with Matthew L.
Great event as usual. Drinks are flowing as much as the food were. The owner, Frank was very generous and entertained the crowd fairly well. He saw a group of us without any of their food sampling and made sure we get a slice of their fabulous pizza to try. Loved the meatballs and the mini rice ball. Muuuuuudddd geeeewdddd duuuude!
Wine was also served at a station in the middle of the dining area.
Servers were super friendly.
Live music playing, Unilocalers singing along (or was it just me? Who cares! Lol).
Restaurant located half a block from the busy Bell Blvd and conveniently right next to municipal parking. How convenient lol.
So yea. Great event Jando and Unilocal team and of course thank you Fiamma for keeping our livers working overtime and our bellies full.

What does it say when a person travels three counties to reach an event? Crazy? Yes. Determined? Yes, yes. I am glad to say I’m among the lucky few that made this epic journey and lived to tell about our pilgrimage. All kidding aside, this was a journey of firsts. First time on the LIRR, First time on rail to Bayside, First time to an event in Bayside. My only exposure to Queens Italian fare is Forest Hills stalwart, Portofino… (but I spend an inordinate amount of time amongst Italians in the predominantly Italian part of Brooklyn Bay Ridge)
Upon arriving, we were treated to a festival of sight and sound in an inviting/​casual atmosphere. A live band, Stoli promo gals slinging shots, a wood-​fired grill spitting piping hot pizza napoletana.
How about the food? In a word, delizioso. Although, I was able to try a couple slices of thin crust pizza, a meatball, and an arancini… I’d be proud to give them a seal of authenticity. The nutella s’mores pizza at the end was a decadent surprise. I’d be anxious to try their entrées next time I’m around again.
Service was spot-​on, as the staff worked the crowd over with plate after plate of finger foods.
As for drinks, the Stoli cocktails were nice, but it the Summer Wheat beer that night that stole my tastebuds. Sorry, Stoli gals, you win some, you lose some. :)
Toward the end, Jando, and Frank, the owners addressed the crowd and talked about bringing to-​life their homemade recipes in this very restaurant. Very touching. Thank you all, Frank, Jando, Nelson, Matt for making this happen and doing all that you do. Fiamma 41 definitely is a shining beacon that puts Bayside on the map for us, one that we’re sure to recognize.

Only a bike ride, sweaty sprint, and an LIRR train ride away (only around 30 minutes for the whole trip from Astoria to Bayside surprisingly), this Elite Event certainly demanded a lot of effort and attention. I am happy to report that it was all well deserved.
I went way casual this night in regards to my wardrobe (I like to travel light and with extreme mobility for treks such as the one I endured last night), and was greeted by familiar faces I ain’t seen in some time, as well as some tall/​moderately tall and pretty drink promotion ladies. The owners of the joint were also extremely friendly, and it’s always a pleasure to see two brothers get along so well (both professionally and familial-​ly).
After grabbing a blood orange pale ale (amazeballs by the way, and I pretty much stuck with that the entire night, shots aside), I hogged the astrologist/​fortune teller for a good 15 – 20 minutes. Fascinating and fun stuff, as I always enjoy hearing about myself from other people. And if it’s any indication as to the legitimacy of this particular astrologist/​fortune teller, when talking about my writing (mad) skillz, she did divine that I am capable of producing a Spielberg-​esque screenplay at some point; are my Unilocal reviews the start of something big? We’ll just have to wait and see.
After having my writing prowess lauded for a fleeting moment, food sampling ensued. I got to try two types of pizza, both with a tomato based sauce. Both of them were spot on, the sauce was tangy, the crust was nice and thin, and the toppings (whether just a simple basil leaf or the sausage) were just icing on the cake… pie…
But the people (and the booze) make the event. Getting to catch up with some of the old heads while meeting some pleasant newbies always goes down easy. I applaud the multitude of the Unilocaling faithful that night for 1) either taking a long road to Bayside via public transit for this event… or 2) having the self control to stop one’s self from partaking in the exceptional (and, as always, complimentary) libations so that one could have the wherewithal to drive one’s self home with a legal blood alcohol level. I hate driving, so I fall into the former.
And not to be ignored in this review is the tooth-​ache inducing slice of decadence coming in the form of a dessert pizza with Nutella and marshmallows. Reminiscent of s’mores in the way of flavor, everything about this dessert was awesome. Original, tasty, nice and hot… so many descriptors to use. I wouldn’t feel safe eating this again though unless I planned an appointment to the dentist’s office prior to indulging.
As always, Jando, our fearless leader, has once again outdone himself. A tip of the hat to him and the rest of the Unilocal team. I don’t always go to Bayside, point of fact: I have never been to Bayside prior to this night… but when I do I always have a good time (batting 1.000 thanks to Unilocal).

A great Elite nite!
Place is a nice size, flat screens, art, and neon lighting. Plenty of seating. Great size bar. No parking lot, but they have a multi meter parking lot up the block which was very convenient.
Great band playing throwback classics.
Drink selection was great, red and white wine, stoli cocktails, and beer.
They served a few different wood fired pizzas, rice balls, caprese on a stick, and mini meatballs, all were really good, fresh and tasty. Rice balls were crispy on the outside and warm and melty on the inside. Dessert was S’mores nutella pizza, i’m not really a sweets person, but the crowd went nuts over this, and the feedback as my table was all positive.
The owners are really welcoming and friendly. Frank said some good stuff, you can tell hes really concerned about what «the people» think about his establishment… which equals great food and great service!

Fiamma Fiamma Fiamma!!! Boy oh boy was I beyond pleasantly surprised. Everything that came out of the kitchen was absolutely wonderful and left me craving for more. But the meatballs… oh gosh! They made me do my food joy dance over and over again. Every bite was like the 1^st time.
The live band and fortune teller added a nice touch to the nite.
Deanna, one of the cool bartenders, made me mint Stoli cocktails quick and tasty all thruout the nite. Cheers to her!
The owners and staff were very attentative and mingled which was appreciated.
Hitting us with the surprise dessert of Nutella Smores pizza made everyone’s nite.
I cant wait to come back and enjoy a sit down meal here with friends.

Queens Represent! Elite Event in Bayside, Queens I had to be there … Fiamma 41 a new spot that is here to stay (Huge Municipal Parking Lot Right Next Door). From there Meatballs, Rice Balls & Variety of Pizzas, showing off traditional Italian recipes at it’s best. This spot has that youth feel Young & Beautiful, from the Owners, Bartenders, Waitresses & Waiters. All on there *A* game.
Drinks were flowing everywhere. The Stoli were good a little sweet, but the Blood Orange Beer was my choice for the night :)
I had the pleasure of meeting some of the coolest Unilocalers by far. Through following then on Unilocal,I felt like I have known them for years! They had me smiling all night …

Fiamma 41 is conveniently located two blocks (barely) from the LIRR and literally next to a municipal parking lot– so even though it’s deep into Queens, it was fairly easy to get to. We came in from Jersey and Brooklyn.
I probably would have never tried this place if it weren’t for this YEE, but I’m really glad I did. The restaurant is still fairly new, so it’s very clean (this is a wonderful thing). The live music was a bit loud at first but I had a much easier time talking later on, they may have lowered the volume.
The food was yummy and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. There was SO MUCH CHEESE. I don’t usually like pizza but I really liked their margherita pizza and the cheese riceballs. The stoli shots were sneaky– they were sweet so the alcohol didn’t hit me til later! I also had the blood Irene pale ale, very orange-​y, in a good way since I like the lighter, fruity stuff.
The nutella smore pizza– that was something else. I don’t usually have nuttella, but the dough really helped balance out that heavy sugar. I don’t think I could have ate more than my one slice, but it was just enough to enjoy as a desert.
The owners were extremely friendly and fun. The restaurant is relaxed and the food and alcohol is delicious. I’m looking forward to coming back to see how their full menu is. They said they are planning a rooftop space for next spring!
I seem to be making way more friends than I can remember though… I’m REALLY bad with names. And faces. But that’s OK because Unilocal events are awesome and have name tags!

This was my first Unilocal elite event. I had so much fun! At first when I arrived I didn’t know anyone but by the time I left I had met at least 6 other Unilocalers. Yay! The food was great. The meatballs melted in your mouth. The riceballs were so ooey gooey with cheese and piping hot. I loved them. The pizza was fantastic. This was the first time I had tried nutella pizza and I LOVE nutella. I would come back just for that.
Frank the owner as super cool! The vibe was really friendly. I didn’t stick around long enough to get my cards read by the tarrot reader but that’s ok. For my first elite event this was fantastic. Shot outs to Jando for saying hello and making me feel so comfortable and the cool ladies that I sat and enjoyed food with.
The severs were extremely attentive and the bartenders were super friendly and served up your drinks before you could blink, That and the fact that this place is close to home is enough to make me want to come back again and again. Great job on this event to all involved. Fiamma41 is fantastic! :)

I’ve walked by Fiamma about a dozen times on my way to other places on Bell, so believe me when I say that I am very thankful we were fortunate enough to have a YEE there. Beautiful, modern, filled with very very attractive staff and a really great selection of thin crust pizzas, Fiamma is already on my calendar for dinner next week.
I had an absolute blast sampling some of their offerings and mingling with my Unilocal friends both old and new. Thank you to the owners, the staff, Jando and the Unilocal gang for yet another awesome event. You guys seriously have to give this family owned restaurant a shot! Unilocal QUEENS WHUDDUP

The second I walked in (7pm on the friggin’ dot by the way) until I walked out half past event end time)… I ate. Slice after slice, meatballs, fried mac and cheese balls, wash rinse repeat.
The owner came by and made sure everyone was taken care of, there was live music playing in the background, a fortune teller (I missed her I was so busy eating…) and most importantly the company kept made it a great night.
Thank you Unilocal,Jando and Matty (for the ice tray too!). Thanks for keeping the rest of us fed and entertained on otherwise mundane weeknights.
