They have improved a lot. The first time I went I wasn’t pleased because I like authentic peruvian food and what I got wasn’t that authentic. I went again last week and this time I was pleased with what I ate. Service is always good, the bartender is very nice and give courtesy drinks… I hope they keep it up.

Great food and great service! All their foods are savory, delicious and not all that expensive (unlike other Peruvian restaurants), great lunch menu deals as well. The only two things that aren’t great were the tallarin verde (spaghetti in pesto sauce) which was a bit bland but still tasted good. The other was their alfajor which was more of a crunchy cookie instead of a soft, crumbly pastry it should be.
While I haven’t used it, I think it’s great that you can order from them on Grubhub!

We asked for dressing on the side of our $ 17 shrimp salads. We received salads drenched in dressing with 6 tiny baby shrimp and practically half an avocado on a tiny bed of lettuce. And the dressing wasn’t even good.

I had a nice, flavorful rice and seafood dish and the servers were very polite and attentive.

not the most authentic peruvian restaurant, but it’s not bland like the other reviewers stated. If anything, it was a bit salty, but I’m not complaining!
We received a complimentary dish, which was really sweet of them! It might have been because we were the only customers, but nonetheless, it was very much appreciated. I’m not sure what the dish is called, but it had potatoes, some yellow creamy sauce and sliced boiled eggs to top it off. It’s an extremely hearty dish that you probably can’t finish on your own, but it was tasty. It’s something I’ve never tried before, but I would recommend sharing it.
My friend got the steak, which was cooked perfectly, but it wasn’t the best steak. Don’t come here for steak is all. My other friend got chicken fried rice, which was decent. Nothing special, but it was good. I had the chicken with sausage, string beans and vegetables. I think my dish was probably the best. The sauce that the chicken was cooked in was so good. I regret getting a side salad instead of the rice because the rice would have soaked up all the liquid goodness.
I think my favorite part was the complimentary corn puffs that they give you before the meal. It’s quite addicting and our waiter noticed because he asked if I wanted more.
I would come back and try their lunch special. It’s a great deal for decent food.

Peruvian food is delicious, Peruvian lunch specials make it even more appealing. :) The interior of Piura is clean and roomy with a nice looking bar.
Our server Mauricio was very attentive, informative and took good care of us. Now honestly for a $ 7 -$ 8 lunch menu we didn’t expect too much, but we were pleasantly surprised.
For starters we ordered the cold appetizer — Papa a La Huancaina. The appetizer was delicious with thin slices of hard boiled eggs and potatoes placed on top of iceberg lettuce and coated with a semi thick «Bernaise» type sauce. WARNING-​WARNING-​WARNING! For our entrée we ordered the Aji De Gallina — which was almost identical to the appetizer mentioned above. When the dish arrived it was like Deja Vu or a deleted scene from the movie «Groundhog day» The only difference was the entrée was served hot and came with a bowl of rice and shredded chicken, other than that a mirror image. I think our waiter forgot that the two items were too similar, I hope it doesn’t happen to regularly.
Our last dish was called — Lomo Saltado, delicious skirt steak stir fried with French fries, tomatoes and onions which makes for a semi sweet and savory dish. They gave us some Green sauce which always signifies Peruvian!
Our server gave us a complimentary dessert (I think he felt bad for not alerting us about the 2 almost identical dishes) He served us a scoop of «Lucuma» ice cream a Peruvian fruit that tasted nutty and had notes of pistachio, we also were served — Dulce de Leche — a cookie sandwich filled with a caramel like filling, delicious!
Piura really does have some amazing lunch specials to choose from and as I mentioned before the interior is clean and well maintained. I plan to return in the evening to try the dinner menu.

I am attaching a photo of Sudado Pescado that I tried a few months ago. Please look at the photo; it was taken after I had only ONE bite of the fish! This «dinner» came with three finger-​sized pieces of fish – that is it! The waiter was so embarrassed he didn’t charge us. It is a shame because Peruvian food is amazing and I was really looking forward to a Peruvian place near my apartment. I had been there before and eaten lunch and it was okay. But honestly, they have to improve or they won’t last long on busy Bell Blvd.

I was a disappointed with my order. The papas huacaina had about 4 maybe 5 slices of potato an an egg. Not enougn to even share. For $ 8 I wot dive expected more. The rotisserie chicken for $ 18 jus be been the tiniest chicken I’ve ever seen. And totally dry I found this place to be so overpriced d for mediocre food. But I can say the huacaina sauce was delicious

Very poor experience. As other reviewers have stated, the food is extremely bland. Based on my visit I can offer the following information.
*The pollo abrasa was clearly par cooked then microwaved. It arrived to me still cold inside with pink raw parts.
*My sister had the same exact thing and hers arrived the exact same way.
We sent both back kind of grossed out by the experience and decided after we hardly ate that we will just pay for whatever else we ordered… And go to another Peruvian place.
The waitress brings the bill, charges us for one chicken and took off all the other items from the bill. Odd, being that the sides added up to more than what one chicken was. I said something to her and she went back to the register re rang it this time resulting in a larger bill (which I thought was totally fair being that we didn’t send those items back) … We paid and left.
I won’t ever be back. I doubt they will survive unless they step up their food game. Which is a shame because I’d love to have a Peruvian place in the neighborhood.
Save your time and go to Richmond hill… Armandos… You’ll love it.

If you want authentic Peruvian food do not come here! I stopped in excited that there was a Latin restaurant on bell blvd. I ordered to go and was so disappointed the chicken was bland the beans were mush! It wasn’t even Peruvian! They need to get a new chef or pay a visit to a real Peruvian restaurant.

I’m sorry. I hate to say but please do listen to the previous reviews. They are all pretty darn accurate.
This is not your average Peruvian place. The chicken is bland and not fully cooked.
The rice is hard and the beans have no flavor either.
The service didn’t help either.
I hope they read all of these reviews and work on their ingredients as well as customer service.

I love the authenticity of this restaurant. It’s true Peruvian Cuisine down to the speciality cocktail, Picso Sour. The food is flavorful and delicious. I enjoyed the homely ambiance and the servers are all very friendly. «Firme y feliz por la unión»

Fuimos mi esposo y yo, el pidió una jalea, primero que nada el pulpo era imitación, del resto 2 pedacitos de pulpo, 2 camarones y unos cuantos calamares sobre una cama llena de yucas medio duras, para lo que sirvieron me pareció caro, yo pedí el steak cusqueño no estaba malo pero tampoco nada extraordinario como para regresar, tenía 3 pedazos grandes de grasa, los tragos un pisco sour y una margarita estaban buenas a parte de eso lo único que puedo salvar es la atención, estuvieron muy pendientes de llenar nuestros vasos de agua y de si necesitábamos algo, la verdad que me quedo con el Pio Pio para comida Peruana, difícilmente regresare, tienen que mejor mucho, tanto en sabor como en porciones.

Invited by my friend to check out this new Peruvian restaurant on Bell blvd. Out of curiousity I went along. First, let me make it clear that this is my first experience eating Diced Corvina Fish marinated in lime juice with choclo. While I find choclo kind of interesting, this giant corn is tasteless. I definitely prefer regular sweet corn. As far as the fish is concerned, it is kind of chewy and fishy. Not my kind of food. On the other hand, Chicken Paella is OK. Overall, pretty disappointed. Waiter is very helpful and friendly, however, I will not go back.

The single worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I ordered the calamari and half chicken and couldn’t eat either of them. The calamari was flavorless and the chicken was absolutely disgusting! The skin was terrible and chewy, I was shocked at how bad everything was. I usually don’t write bad reviews but this place was such a disappointment, from the food to the service. Definitely look elsewhere if you want authentic Peruvian food.

My wife and I went with my father and step-​mother the other day. My parents are big fans of their Mexican restaurant (Cinco de Mayo — used to be in this location but moved down the street to a larger location) so we figured we’d give the Peruvian a try.
First, it took a very long time to get our food. We didn’t order any appetizers and just ordered dinner. It probably took 20 – 25 minutes for the dishes to come out… and there were only 3 tables seated. Not a good sign. Admittedly, we didn’t try a diverse selection of dishes as two of us tried the Arroz con Pollo and two of us tried one of the specials (I forget the name, but it was skirt steak sauteed with tomatoes and onions).
We all thought the food was somewhat bland. I’ve never eaten Peruvian food before but I expected something with much more flavor. I’ve read the other reviews and the first three didn’t surprise me at all. I’m more surprised by the last review (left just yesterday) that gave the place 5 stars.
My step-​mom and I both tried the arroz con pollo. None of it had much flavor. I was tempted to get some hot sauce but I really didn’t want that at that time of night. My stomach isn’t what it used to be. There were about two (maybe 3) this slices of cooked red pepper in the dish and it would have been better with more of that. Just more flavor overall. There was four pieces of cut chicken with bone in and I should have known better. Cleaning the meat off the bones is pain. But that’s on me.
My wife and father had the steak dish and they ate it, but both said it wasn’t anything they would go back for. I had a bite of steak. It was okay. I also ate my wife’s tomatoes (she doesn’t like cooked tomatoes). They didn’t even have much flavor.
There was plenty of food… and it wasn’t bad tasting, which is why I’m giving it 2 stars. It just wasn’t good tasting either. And then we waited forever to get the check. We were clearly done (2 completely empty plates and two with just rice in them… forks down, etc.) and the waitress just never came and asked if we needed anything wrapped or whatever. We actually had to bug her for the check after about 15 – 20 minutes. With all of the choices in Bayside, we won’t be going back.

Came here for the first time today for their lunch special with 2 other people. Service was very attentive and we were seated immediately — it was kind of empty around 1PM.
What we got:
— Complimentary roasted Peruvian kernels: It was weird, dry and gritty but addictive… could have also been because I was starving lmao
— ¼ Rotisserie Chicken served with rice and beans — $ 7. Pretty mediocre, nothing special, friend who ordered it said that the chicken at Boston Market is actually better. Waitress offered two sauces to try with the chicken.
— Lomo Saltado, skirt steak strips sauteed with onions, tomatoes and french fries, served with rice. AMAZING, so freaking good! Get it.
— Aji de gallina, a classic Peruvian dish, shredded chicken with Peruvian yellow sauce served with a hard boiled egg and rice. My sister enjoyed this dish and I enjoyed trying it! :D
— Coffee: had some cinnamon in it and was really yummy, when my sister asked if refills were free, the waitress said «It’s not, but I’ll give it to you anyway» — that was super ice of her =]
— Flan $ 7: Was good but for $ 7 I’ve had better
— Inca Cola: Can never go wrong with this lol
Things to know:
— Lunch special is everyday from 11:30AM-4:00PM. Prices range from $ 5-​$ 8
— I probably wouldn’t go here for their normal menu because of the prices.
— I am NOT an aficionado of Peruvian food lol I’ve only have 2 other experiences to compare this meal to which are my handful of visits to Pio Pio and my Peruvian friend’s mom’s home cooking. I can’t really comment on the foods authenticity but a majority of it was delicious and has my group and I wanting to come back.
Other note: I’m pretty sure some of the other reviews of this place are fake. Try it for yourself and make up your own opinion on this place!

DON’T BE FOOLED! This is not a peruvian restaurant! Not even close! The food is terrible! STAY AWAY!

Absolutely horrible. If you are Peruvian please don’t even waste your time with this place. The closest thing they have to authentic Peruvian food is the Inka Cola aka champagne cola… Rice is instant rice… «green spaghetti» sauce has no flavor and sauce is straight from a jar of cheap pesto from the grocery store. Food is dry and has no flavor what so ever… worst experience I have had when eating in a peruvian resteraunt. This isn’t authentic Peruvian food. at best it can be called an imitation.
