A family run, family friendly bed and breakfast lodge, located on scenic highway 4 near Bear Valley, and close to Arnold, Murphys and Angels Camp. This Lodge has a common area with books, puzzles, board games and ping pong. The Lodge has a unique Mountain ambiance, European appeal and Causal atmosphere. Innkeepers Vicky and Tim, provide an ample and varied continental breakfast in their large guest kitchen which is then open for all guest to use through out the day making their own home made meals. A great option for those who are budget minded or have special dietary needs. Winter use of sleds and snowshoes are complimentary for all overnight guests to use on lodge property (5 acres if land) and for Day Visitors who pay the $ 20 parking fee –sleds, snowshoe, picnic area, wifi, restrooms and self served hot drinks (small donation). This is truly a wonderful place to enjoy your day in snow or the sun!

History

Established in 2000.

Tamarack Lodge over the year has been a welcoming spot for many visitors for day visits or over night stays. It was first used as a hunting camp back in the early 1900’s and was know as Camp Tamarack. Through out the years it has develop from camping tents and cabins to a Modern Day Ski Lodge used for recreation lodging through out the year. Recent remodel via the current owners Derek and Roz Bray changed it from a restaurant lodge to a family friendly bed and breakfast lodge with a European twist. The Lodge now has 3 buildings — Main Lodge with 2nd floor bed room — with European style bathrooms down the hallway — separate for men and women. A back Chalet that has rooms with private bathrooms and one with a kitchenette and the Barn which is a small 2nd floor condo unit with its own bathroom and kitchenette. The Lodge is popular for individuals, families and small groups wish to reconnect with the Wilderness

Manager

Vicky is the daughter of owners, Derek and Roz Bray, and has been innkeeper for the lodge since they bought it in 2000. She and her husband, Tim, and teenage children, Nolan and April run this lodge in a wonderfully casual manner that is so conducive to a relax stay in the Mountains. Vicky is an avid outdoor person and runner and is currently as coaching Bret Hart High School Cross Country and Track and Field. She is encouraging sports groups to come to Tamarack Lodge for high altitude training. Tim is a plumber and maintenance work for Bear Valley Village in Alpine county, so be assure the maintenance and plumbing at the Lodge is in proper working order.
