13th Door Haunted House

Great haunt. Amazing scenery and sets, great special FX too.
I would give this haunt more scares but we kept running into little kids who were to scared to keep going. They let us pass them and then they were grabbing onto us longing for Comfort from behind. Luckily a worker noticed we were not happy and stopped the kids from fallowing so closely.
I will return to this haunt. I want to give it another chance to get five stars.

Had me on edge the whole time, well worth the money. Lots of different scares. Way better than fright town if you’re looking for a bang for your buck.

I don’t know who screamed more between us, but I am pretty sure it may have been my husband! Well worth the price and a short que. I was surprised there were so many children there, as this warehouse is legitimately frightening, at times disorienting, and truly thrilling. The sets are great but the actors are what makes it. Glad we stopped in the bar before we went!

Fantastic sets, great actors, good scares. Not for the faint of heart. It’s definitely weird and disorienting, with adult themes… but hey, I’d say anything with axe wielding psychos and gore-​faced zombies is pretty dang adult themed. I had a hard time getting through. Bonus, you can make a night of it with the alien themed mini golf in front, and there’s a saloon next door to help chill your nerves and laugh over the scares afterwards.

We go to 4 or 5 haunted houses every year, all over the metro. We’ve even been to a few out of state… This one this year was one of the best we have ever been to. Their attention to detail and layout and setup was superb. The best part was their pacing: it made the wait time longer but the house was so much better without seeing everything happen to the group in front of you. It is dark, scary, and at times disorienting. Is it perfect? Of course not — but this year it was far better than the others we went to. We were skeptical because it’s out in BFB but it was super worth it. We’ll be back next year!

Went tonight, Halloween night. had a great time. Impressed… scary, screamed numerous times, great sets with lots of detail, good actors. Even got scared several times just waiting in line. Takes a good amount of time to get through it, felt like the $ 15 entry fee was worth it, and fair.

We went to this haunt a few years ago in its old location, and we decided to give it another try tonight. The three of us in our group all agreed that it was one of the best haunts for the money that we’ve been to. The thing we all liked the most about it was that it was longer than most haunts. It has become common place to pay $ 20 for a 30 minute wait to get inside, and then 5 minutes to make it through the haunt. We waited for about 15 minutes, but it took us almost 20 minutes to get through, which was a pleasant surprise. They also spaced out the groups going through well enough that we weren’t surrounded by 20 other people pushing their way through. It was creative and had some good scares. I agree with others who said there weren’t very many «monsters» to jump out, but the ones they had did a great job.

Hi! I love haunted houses and try to go at least once every year. I went to three haunted houses this year and one of those was the 13^th door. The 13^th door was the best haunted house I have been to in a long time! I have been disappointed by $ 30 haunted houses before and for a $ 15 ticket at the 13^th door is a darn good scare for the price! It was scary from beginning to end. They put a lot of detail in ALL the rooms and costumes, everyone was very professional and stayed in character at ALL times! Even when we were going the wrong way. There was even a time one of the creepy characters (putting on a great show), separated my friend and I who has special needs, and stalked me away from her. I whispered to him she was special needs and needed to go back for her. He did not break character once and guided me back to her by acting as though I was being chased! As we bravely strolled our away out of the pitch black maze area he continued to make us feel very eerie as if nothing happened. Everything was great, well planned, and very professional! A little tip if you go to haunted houses, its not going to be fun and scary if you have high expectations. You have to walk slow, listen and wait for traps to reset, and most important use your imagination. It is pretend after all.

WOW – I was greatly disappointed in our experience this year!
For someone who hasn’t gone to a haunted house in a few years, I wasn’t expecting too much. However, I did have higher expectations for 13^th Door from the last time I visited either in 2009 or 2010 (when it was located further East on Canyon).
I did enjoy the actors who ghoulishly went through the line as we waited for our turn. From the «woman» who had a baby torn from her incredibly gruesome stomach to the zombie looking for change – they were fun great entertainers, but didn’t distract us from the line waiting for our turn.
There were two lines, both 45 minutes to an hour or so longer. First line to purchase your ticket, second line to go in line to enter the «haunted house». We saved ourself the first line by purchasing our tickets through the website, but the line to enter was still lengthy.
With a group of 13, we decided to split to allow for more umpf to be scared. Man, were we mistaken… We ran into the another group that went ahead of us, our second half ran into us, and another group ran into our second half. The timing was terrible, the haunts were more of a joke, and it felt as if everything was rushed.
I’m not sure if 13^th Door had anticipated this amount of traffic, or maybe they did? I’m sure the profits were plenty, but I guess numbers mean more than the end user experience.

One of the characters, a grown man, told my 15yr old sister «I’m going to stick it in you raw and give you herpes»!!! We paid the fifteen dollars to get scared, not to get sexually harassed. It was a good haunted house, but that ruined the entire experience for me.

Absolutely awful. Almost as if I paid 15 bucks to wait 45 minutes to walk around a prop shop for an hour. There were about five actors in the entire house, none of which seemed to have any experience. As a previous haunted house actor for Fright Town, I was extremely disappointed with this performance. There were many opportunities to really scare customers, and they weren’t taken. I feel bad for the makeup artists who spent their time and materials decorating un-​dedicated and inexperienced volunteers. I’d go to my neighborhood haunted house before wasting the gas to come here again.

Going in this year I was a little skeptical. The price was reduced ($ 20 in 2012 to $ 15 in 2013), but they also changed locations, so I wasn’t sure if the price decrease was due to a quality decrease. I am glad they reduced their price because $ 20 was getting a little steep for a haunted house.
The ambiance while waiting in line leaves a lot to be desired. At the old location, you were kind of near a wooded area in the back of the complex, and they had a lot of spooky decorations and actors running around and scaring people in line. This year, the line was completely indoors, and I would say the ambiance was «warehouse.» It was really bright due to the streetlights and they didn’t black out the giant windows at the storefront. There was also some random guy selling drawings and «synthetic dreads»? Ok. Weird.
Anyways, the haunted house itself was pretty awesome. Even though there was a lot of extra light at the entrance, they were still able to get it SUPER dark and spooky in the actual haunted house. I feel like 90% of what makes a haunted house great is timing — the people making sure that your group is let in long enough after the group before you that you don’t end up running into them. Since most of what is scary about haunted houses are the people catching you by surprise, you lose all of that if you’re stuck directly behind a group of teenage girls getting all of the actors jumping out at them. In this case, they did an awesome job of spacing for our group, and we didn’t see ANY other groups the entire time we were going through. They got about 7 good screams out of me, which I think makes for a solid haunted house.
The sets, as always, were really well done. They could have had a few more actors, but 80% of the ones that were in there were really creepy.
Overall, I’d say they deserve 5 stars. There are things that they could have done better, but the fact that they reduced their price made up for it.
This is definitely too scary for kids.

Definitely better than expected! It was really good for a haunted house on a Sunday in early October! I can only imagine how scary it’ll be closer to Halloween!.. very creative. new material.not your typical horror «themes»… It’s pretty long too so not recommended if your looking for it to be over in under 10 min… their actors are pretty into it their roles so be prepared to be startled :)
