I provide home-​based, comprehensive speech and language evaluations, intervention, and family coaching for children from infancy through adolescence. My particular areas of expertise are: articulation, phonological awareness, language development, and literacy. I also serve children who require intervention to address feeding/​swallowing, stuttering, apraxia, dysarthria, social-​communication, and selective-​mutism. There are several training programs and methodologies that have shaped my intervention style and approach: Hanen Centre’s It Takes Two to Talk; Lindamood Bell’s Visualizing Verbalizing, Seeing Stars, and LiPS programs; Neurolinguistic Language Theory by Ellyn Arwood; Social Thinking by Michelle Garcia Winner; Understanding & Treating Selective Mutism by Dr. Shipon-​Blum.

History

Established in 2005.

I began my own private practice while I was taking time to raise my kids. A few months into my leave of absence I began to receive calls asking for my services. I took on a few cases out of love of my profession. It has continued to grow via word-​of-​mouth ever since.

I have been a Speech-​Language Pathologist for 20 years. I consider myself lucky to have a career that I love. Everyday presents with exciting challenges and rewards. In addition to providing therapy, I enjoy spending time coaching parents to advocate for their child. Helping them to understand the Special Education process and the different parts of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) is important to me. My other hobbies are spending time with my kids, running, reading, and baking. I have 3 girls and a granddaughter who I adore. Each spring, I spend 15 weeks training with a group of high school students to run the Helvetia Half Marathon. It is very rewarding and a highlight of each year. I enjoy reading a variety of genres, but currently spend most of my time reading what is on my students’ book lists. I acquired a love of baking from my grandmothers and mother. I have many family favorite recipes, but Monster cookies are by far the most popular.
